Pain Relief Overview

An analgesic drug, also called simply an analgesic, antalgic, pain reliever, or painkiller, is any member of the group of drugs used for pain management. Analgesics are conceptually distinct from anesthetics, which temporarily reduce, and in some instances eliminate, sensation, although analgesia and anesthesia are neurophysiologically overlapping and thus various drugs have both analgesic and anesthetic effects. Analgesic choice is also determined by the type of pain: For neuropathic pain, r...

Morphine Sulfate 15 mg expiration date

Is it safe to take Morphine sulfate 1 mm rel 15 mg tab after it's expiration date? ## can you take propox-n/apa after expitation date ## I have some extended release morphine sulphate 60 mg from 2015. Is it ok to take?? I need to go to an event without being in such pain. I usually take 15 mg and 15 mg of oxycodone. ## Under U.S. FDA regulations, tablets and capsules expire one year from when they are dispensed to you by your pharmacy, since that exposed them to the elements that can cause degradation, such as heat, light, and moisture, so under average storage conditions in most homes, that is the longest period of time they can guarantee full efficacy. Liquids, creams, and ointments may have shorter expiration dates, and capsules/tablets that are still sealed in their factory orig...

Daylight Saving Time ill effects

Anyone else having horrible time adapting to the time change? I have been in horrid pain since yesterday morning. I go through this every year. I don't know why we have to change time. I was in bed all day and had to cancel a foot doctor appointment, there is no way I can walk far today. ## Oh yes, I hate it. I wish they would just pick one or the other and stick with it. Definitely feel more tired and foggy, even after getting the same amount of sleep. And there are many articles published on the negative effects of forcing the time change on everyone. One would think that schools and other places could gradually adjust their start times for a few days to ease the pain. ## I got less sleep by 2 hours, both yesterday and today, I too am foggy.and I hurt like hell. I took a nap today...

MORPHINE SULF ER by RHODES

I have been getting my morphine from CVS for over 5 yrs. They will only get Rhodes mfg. generic. These pills are so bad some times my nose runs, I am in a with draw state. Every month its the same some thing. It seems like sometimes they have the right amount of morphine in them while most times Its as though I am taking nothing. Anyone else out there with this problem? I think some of these pills are bootleg. No way to prove it and CVS does not seem to care. ## Have you tried asking them if they can order in the ones made by a different manufacturer for you? They usually can, but you'll have to pay any price difference between it and the existing generic, because your insurance usually won't. Another alternative would be speaking to your doctor about trying a different medicati...

Difference between Oxycodone HCL & IR?

I know the oxycodone HCL has some sort of salt in it and it’s just regular oxycodone. And I understand the IR is immediate release. Then they have extended release. But is the oxycodone HCL an extended or an immediate release?? Thank you! ## Oxycodone HCl just means the basic drug - the HCl is a salt that helps it dissolve. It does not tell you if it’s fast-acting or long-acting. - IR means immediate release (works quickly). - ER/XR means extended release (released slowly over hours). So, Oxycodone HCl can be either IR or ER. If your bottle doesn’t say ER/XR, it’s almost always the immediate-release kind. If you'd like, share the NDC code that's on your prescription, and I can look up the leaflet from the manufacturer just to make sure. ## Thank you! Very...

drug name dorvasal

small & round, orange ## My mother has been suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis for last 10 years. We found out about Dorvasal from an RA forum. An RA doctor in Mexico prescribed Dorvasal for my mother. She took it thrice a day with analgesics for 4 years and we saw good results with her mobility and pain control. However lately she is complaining of dizziness, spinning motion in head, mouth ulcers, itchy skin and skin rashes, insomnia. We abruptly stopped Dorvasal because of these side effects and now her condition has really deteriorated. She is bed ridden now. Does this drug contain any steroids? Also we are not sure if the side effects were because of Dorvasal or the analgesic pain killer (Tramadol Hydrochloride) she has been taking. (She also has hypertension and high blood pre...
