Do you have any more questions or information to add? Please post back if you do. ## I too am on Triamterene and ran out about a week ago. I called my pharmacy to see if my refill was ready the day before I ran out. They told me I didn't have any refills left. I asked if they could call my Doctor and they said no that I would have to call him, so I did and was told they would call it in. The pharmacy gave me 3 pills until the Doctor called it in. So 5 days later I had been without for two days so, I called the pharmacy and they said yes it was ready. Naturally I asked how long it had been ready and they said since ye...

I'm not really sure what to call the colour; somewhere between peachy and yellowy. The pills are about 6 mm, round, and scored on one side, down the middle between the APO and the 25. The other side is entirely blank. I've been all over several pill identifiers and such, but the closest I get is the same description with an added mark... one of them is a diuretic and the other is an antipsychotic/sedative and neither are the same as these three little pills I found. Any leads? ## Have you tried asking a local pharmacist? Most online identifiers only list U.S. tablets and I know many of the ones with these types of markings are from Canada…..and the problem there is that in order to try to curb the influx of fakes, Canada has started keeping their markings under wraps, so t...

Hey, I was wondering if Triamterene hctz can help you lose weight? ## Hi Amberlee, Because Triamterene is a diuretic, I can honestly only see it helping you lose water weight temporally (as you'd obviously have to rehydrate sooner than later LOL). Personally I wouldn't encourage you to go down that route at all, but if you do, please be sure to consult a doctor first to go over proper/safe dosing protocols that suit your individual needs. Keep in mind too that this medication's primary intended use is for high blood pressure, so if your levels are already low or you don't know where they general range from, it would be imperative to have your blood pressure evaluated or monitored before starting treatment. I hope this helps! ## My doctor just told me she was putting me o...

I do not take triamterene every day as it says on the prescription, it does say as needed so I take it every other day or every two days, I have been getting constipated lately, and I wonder if I am ok in doing what I am doing with this prescription. thank you. ## Hello, Leslie! How are you? This is a diuretic and they can be prescribed and taken on an as needed basis, so taking it that way is fine, as long as your doctor approves. I have a standing prescription for one myself that's only to be taken as needed, because I dehydrate too easily to take it all the time. The FDA lists its typical side effect as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. It's hard to say what may be causing the constipation. Are you on any other medications? Have your eati...

I'm prescribed to take this drug for all life on a daily basis (not related to hypertension). Does anybody takes it on a regular daily basis? Are there any severe side effects of long-term use? ## Hello, Wise Mike! How are you? This medication is classified as a diuretic, which is used to remove excess fluid from the body. Yes, some people do take it daily for life, due to high blood pressure, congestive heart failure or edema/fluid retention. The most common risk to long-term use is dehydration, if you don't take in enough fluid each day. There is also a slight risk of kidney damage. The FDA lists other common side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. Is there anything else I can help with?

My husband has chf so takes this med. It hasn't worked after taking double dose. He weight is increasing..ten lbs since yesterday. Could this be kidney relater or a low postasium level. ## Hello, Donna! How is your husband doing? It would be best for him to contact his cardiologist for an emergency appointment. It's difficult to guess why he isn't responding to the medication, but yes, it usually signals that there is some other underlying cause. Is he on any other medications? Does he limit his daily liquid intake? Does he limit his sodium intake? The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and dehydration.

Hello, I have stenosis of the left and right ICA. The left is 75% blocked and right 50% blocked. I possibly have Moyamoya, as well.(Hence the stenosis) My family doctor just switched me to this combo because after being on 50MEQ of potassium, I finally reached a normal level range of potassium. Is this something I should revisit with my doctor? I can't afford anymore narrowing! They are still trying to figure me out. ## Hello, Sheryl! How are you? I've not found anything listed in the side effects provided by the FDA that says this medication may cause more narrowing. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dehydration and increased urination. Have you consulted a cardiologist?

can you still use hctz 25mg. that expired 5/15? ## Hello, Blondie! How are you? It would be best to dispose of it and contain a fresh supply, medications tend to degrade with time, so it may not longer be as effective as it was, when new. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and dehydration. Though I admit it does look like 2900, because the pressing is somewhat off. Are there any questions or concerns?
