My 25 yr old son has severe panic attacks how can he get a physician to prescribe this if he's on methadone for opiate addiction!!!????He s not able to keep a job because of panic attacks????Please help me get my son the help he needs!!!!??? ## Hi tina, Sorry to hear about your son's tight situation. In the end I believe it really just comes down to the discretion of the physician or psychiatrist who prescribes/recommends the clonazepam. From my experience, a psychiatrist can write up a report after an in-person evaluation, to help determine your son's true needs for this medication. If he can get a good psychiatrist that is willing to work with him, their reports can certainly convince a doctor to reconsider things for him. That may be something to consider first before app...

Several yrs. ago I went to sub. dr. for opiot dependancy. He started me on one and half strips per day. The strips read 8mg-2mg. He weaned me down and I got off them. Not gonna get into story but I got messed up on pills again and went back to dr. yesterday. I told him I have a different insurance now and they won,t pay for suboxone so I,d be paying out of pocket. He prescribed the Subutex pill 2mg and said to take one and a half per day which is 3mg. He said this is same dose I started on back when I took the strips. I thought I was starting off at 12mg. last time with strips. This got me very confused. I guess I don,t know what the 8mg-2mg means on the strips. I thought the 8mg on the strip package was the ingredient that kept away the wds. I,m sorry this is confusing sounding but any...

Hi I'm new to Wa and transferred to a methadone clinic here about 3 months ago from California. I don't like how they are ran an I would rather go through a private doc, can anyone someone PLEASE help me???? Oh an price here for clinic is double then what it was in California. ## HI, Makenz! How are you? I understand why people don't like the clinics, however, by law a private doctor can't prescribe Methadone for addiction treatment and that applies to the entire U.S. Methadone can only be given for addiction in a clinical setting by those who have been specially trained in its use. I wish I had better news for you, but I don't. Regardless of why you were going to a clinic, since some people resort to it for pain and I have no way of knowing if you were doing so as w...

Really wanted to know if I can take advil pm.for my head ach and help sleeping, but im on 8mg sub.a day and 10mg flexeril??? ## From what I've read, apparently there are dangerous drug interactions listed between the Buprenorphine in Suboxone and the Cyclobenzaprine in Flexeril. I'm not sure if you were already aware of this, but the interaction states that using these two central nervous system (CNS) depressants together may increase your risk of a Buprenorphine overdose, life-threatening respiratory depression, coma, and even death. Having said that, extreme caution on proper dosing should be advised by your doctor if he/she hasn't already mentioned this to you. Regarding Advil PM, the diphenhydramine in this medication also interacts with the Buprenorphine in Suboxone. Not...

I have been addicted to pain pills for nearly 20 yrs. can anyone tell me a good methadone doctor in hickory NC. ## Hi, Coy! If you are looking to use it to break your addiction, then you will have to go to a Methadone clinic, a private physician isn't allowed to prescribe it for that under the current laws. To be used to treat addiction, it has to be used under the supervision of those that are specially trained in using it for that in a clinical setting. Have you considered treatment with Suboxone? They have a website at suboxone.com with a feature that will let you search for doctors in your area and it only requires monthly visits to the doctor, with counseling, rather than daily visits like the Methadone clinics. Learn more Suboxone details here. It also has the added bonus of e...

I am wanting to go to India for 3 week. I am currently taking methadone , been dependent on Mathadone for 3 year now. Will I be able to take my medication with me to India? ## Hi Leon, Based on my research, prescription drugs are said to be exempt from the standard TSA (airport security) rules. However it's possible that the rules may be somewhat different when traveling abroad. As long as you declare them at the security checkpoint, you should be fine. I'm sure the TSA has to make exceptions all the time for various medical necessities; but I would just recommend visiting the TSA website for more details on what they do and do not allow, if you need more specific details on the matter. I hope this helps!

How much does generic suboxone cost compared to real thing ## Prices are actually going to vary according to a number of different factors including: location, quantity, dosage, dosage form (i.e. sublingual, film, or vial), etc. However as a rough estimate, based on what I've seen online, suboxone can be up to a couple hundred more or less depending on whether or not you get the generic vs the brand name. Definitely a significant difference in price, but I believe many would argue that you do get what you pay for in the price difference. Everyone may react/respond differently though, so I would just be open to generic options if you've had luck with them in the past. I hope this helps!

I been taking methadone 10 XML three times a day. Why is it not showing up in a urine test? My doctor is taking me off if the next test is the same. I already had two negative test.why. is this happening? ## It is possible that they are just running a standard 5 panel screen. Methadone does not test positive as an opiate. They have to run an extended screen which test for methadone. I would think your doctor would know this but I would verify.

was getting methadone at clinic but they wont take medacare need doctor in reno nv help ## Hi, Andrew! Sorry about the problem that you're having. However, a private physician isn't allowed to prescribe Methadone for addiction treatment. Even if that's not why you were going to the clinic, that is what it will be listed as in your medical records, so no doctor can prescribe it for you. Doctors that aren't trained to use it for addiction treatment can only prescribe it for pain. Have you tried to see if there are other clinics in your area that accept Medicare?

Hello, I'm a 24 year old female and was put on methadone years ago by a money hungry so called doctor. I have a legit MRI, reason, all that. I don't care about being drug tested I just need a doctor that cares enough to help me safely get off this evil drug. I'm trying to get help but I'm just getting the run around and I'm almost to tears. I just got back into UCLA, am trying to really start my life, and methadone and all the health problems it has caused have ruined everything before and is jeopardizing everything again. If anyone knows a doctor in the Los Angeles or San Fernando valley region I would really appreciate it. Please, I'm not looking for anything except legit help. In advance, thank you anyone for your time. ## Hi, Anna! I am so sorry about what yo...

I have been on 2mg suboxone for over 4 years to treat chronic back/ neck pain. Yesterday I was told that there is a backorder on suboxone. Suboxone is the only drug that will relieve the pain with out mind or mood altering effects. Has any one heard about this shortage ## Yes, there has been a recent shortage listed due to manufacturing delays, though I can't find any more precise details. Have you talked to your doctor, pharmacist about it? They may be able to suggest an alternative medication, or dosage. ## Yes I've been traveling recently aroun time to fill my 2mg pills & manufacture back up- from WV to louisiana where I'm from so having to get dr to write me the 8mg pills again. This site has info: ashp.org/DrugShortages/Current/bulletin.aspx?id=1030 even when the FD...

Hi I am trying to find a doctor in the Rochester, ny even buffalo area that will prescribe methadone for my chronic knee pain and all I am finding is addiction treatment facilities!!! Can u help? ## Well, if you're searching under Methadone/Methadone treatment, that's all you're going to find. There is no listing of doctors that treat pain with any given medication. For pain, Methadone can be prescribed by any physician that has their license and can prescribe medications, however, if they advertised it, imagine the type of people they'd have beating down their office door. :-) The biggest issue that I think you're going to run into is many doctors not wanting to prescribe it, though they may be perfectly willing to prescribe other opiates. Many are reluctant, since ...

Hi Does anyone in the Boston ,Mass area know of any doctors who would perscribe Methadone? Thanks. ## Hi, Donata! How are you? As to Methadone, it depends why it's needed. If it's to treat severe pain, any doctor can prescribe it for that. However, if it's for addiction treatment, then that must be done in a clinical setting by those who are specially trained in its use, it is against the law for a regular doctor to prescribe it for such. Learn more Methadone details here. Can you post back with more details? That will enable people to help you! Thanks!

I was 5 years into my nurseing career when I crashed and burned hard. At the end I was misusing over 100mg of morphine /day, or 8mg hydromorphone, or 300mg meperidine. Went to heroin after getting caught and losing license. 3 to 5g/day if I could. So I was a very heavy user for 9 years or so. Went to rehab, did 35 days in patient. That first 30 was bad. Insomnia, PAWS, depression all pretty bad. But in patient, with 20 or more other survivors, structured days etc made it possible. After discharge (I went 3000 miles from home for rehab) I returned and plugged into recovery network. Meetings, sponsor, phone calls etc. First 2 weeks out (day 35-50) were tough. Restless leg, cramps, diarrhea, insomnia, depression, anxiety, lethargy, all part of PAWS. Friends in the rooms said it would pass....

Is there any chance you could have someone else look at it to see what the rest of the markings are? Without knowing them, it is very difficult for anyone to positively identify this for you. Thanks!

I have been onsuboxonefor one year, I just started a treatment of passion flower but am still taking suboxone. are there any interactions? ## I didn't find any interactions listed, but you should double check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. Since passion flower is actually a supplement, not a traditional medication, it hasn't been checked for interactions with drugs, so it is possible that they may be some problems that just aren't yet known. Learn more Suboxone details here. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## Thank you so much! I did also call my doctor to keep him updated with my medication intake. I guess I was just worried that they would counter react eachother. Since one is an opiate based and the other is to help with withdrawls so im worried ...

Has anyone out there had their feet swell? Also my knees hurt, its almost like I'm having an elergiec reaction to this. ## Actually, those aren't the signs of an allergic reaction, that would be symptoms such as hives, trouble breathing, swelling of the mouth, nose and throat. However, the edema that you're experiencing has been reported in people that are hypersensitive to Suboxone. So, it may not be the right medication for you to take, or you may beed to lower the dosage. Learn more Suboxone details here. Have you consulted your doctor, yet?

I have been on Suboxone for 7 years. I just switched to generic Subutex for financial reason. After 2 weeks on the generic Subutex, I have deveoped sever puritus on the back of my thighs and buttocks. I am pretty sure that the Subutex is the cause, as I have eliminated anything else. Little itchy bumps, all over these areas, but they are not red. ## Hi, Terry! Sorry about the problem you're having. I've had similar reactions myself from allergies over the years, so I know it can be pretty miserable. It's hard to say from just the information in your post, but usually pruritus as a result of a drug reaction is accompanied by a rash. I really think you should have your doctor look at it to be sure. It can happen due to various types of allergies, so it could be that it's u...

Looking for a doctor in upstate NY (Syracuse & surrounding) that can prescribe methadone in a private setting I am tired of the clinic and liquid dosage. wound up there because of pregnancy 4 & 1/2 yrs ago (on opiates for pain, high dosage), have several painful conditions including rsd which is nerve issue. want a life again! anyone that can help i would greatly appreciate feedback. ## Hi, Arlene! Sorry about what you're going through. However, the problem is that a private doctor is not allowed to prescribe Methadone for addiction/maintenance treatment, they can only prescribe it for severe, chronic pain. Even if that wasn't the reason you started going to a treatment clinic, once you enrolled yourself there, that's what it's listed as in your medical records, ...
