Generic Subutex And Puritus

I have been on Suboxone for 7 years. I just switched to generic Subutex for financial reason. After 2 weeks on the generic Subutex, I have deveoped sever puritus on the back of my thighs and buttocks. I am pretty sure that the Subutex is the cause, as I have eliminated anything else. Little itchy bumps, all over these areas, but they are not red.

Hi, Terry! Sorry about the problem you're having. I've had similar reactions myself from allergies over the years, so I know it can be pretty miserable.

It's hard to say from just the information in your post, but usually pruritus as a result of a drug reaction is accompanied by a rash.

I really think you should have your doctor look at it to be sure. It can happen due to various types of allergies, so it could be that it's unrelated to the medication. One very common cause of it is contact dermatitis, which is basically coming into topical contact with something that you're allergic to.

With the areas that it has occurred, have you been sitting down in public anywhere? If so, you may have come into contact with some substance that you are allergic to and developed a reaction. And wearing clothing wouldn't necessarily prevent it.

I've had this happen several times after being out shopping, because I touched something I was allergic to and then touched some part of my body. It can be very hard to remember to keep your hands away from yourself, when out in public, if you have allergies.
