Medications start to lose effectiveness over time, so it's not going to work as well, since it's been expired for 2 years. Beyond that, you need to see your doctor, get on a good, non-expired medication and stick with it. There is no cure for high blood pressure, it has to be continually controlled and you can't just take a medication until it's at normal levels and then stop, because it will go up, again. I have been prescribed this drug for control of my fluctuating Blood Pressure. Normaly my BP ranges between 80/140 to 90/150. Recently it shot unto 110/170. I am 61 yrs. and have been taking BP control medicine Tenormin 50 - one in the morning and Telma 20 - one in the night. Last week I got my Eco Cardiograme and CT Angeography done. The reports are clear and Normal. I have been on Metoprolol ER TAB SUC 50 mg (75 mg in morning and 75 mg in evening) for a long time. These were round white pills with"M50" on one side and a score line on the other side. I understand the "ER" stands for Extended Release. When my prescription ran out, I contacted the pharmacy for a refill. Instead of sending me the same medication, they sent me a 3-month supply of Metoprolol TAB TAR 50 mg. These are round pink pills, a little smaller than the white pills. On one side they have a score line with "93" above the score line and "733" below the score line. The other side is plain, with no markings at all. Are these smaller pink TAB TAR pills the same as the ER TAB SUC pills? And are the TAB TAR pills Extended Release? I wanted to stay on the Ex...

I have been taking metropolol 25 mg 2x/day for years. My tablet has been oval shaped with what looks like an "m" then a center score and a script looking "B" under that when the pill is held upright. My latest refill is round with "M 18" and the other side is center scored. Are these the identically same medices? It is so difficult with so many generic medicnes being white tablets. My husband had a false positive on a hair follicle test for methamphetamine and amphetamine and I think it is because he takes Amlodipine Besylate every day. The hair follicle test results were so high that he would have had to do meth everyday. I know for a fact that he does NOT do meth, but he does take the Amlodipine Besylate 10mg every day and Clonidine 1am & 1pm that is the only meds that he takes on a daily basis.
