I started Lo Loestrin Fe at the beginning of December. Up until about 2 days ago, I took my pills every day at the right times. I had sex while on this, but my boyfriend never ejaculated inside me. Two days ago, I forgot to take my pill and took it the next day at the time I normally would along with that day's pill. Today, I noticed that I have very dark brown, mushy-like discharge. I haven't had sex in nearly a week and half and it's virtually impossible that I'm pregnant because I took my pills every day at the right time while I was having sex. Could this just be my body reacting to missing the pill, i.e. dried blood? Could it be an infection? Does this require a call to the gyno? Thanks for the help.

I am 22 years old and on my second pack of Loestrin (week 2). I've never missed a period on any birth control, including the IUD Mirena... I always have very regular 7 day heavy periods, so you would think I'd be happy about not having one now. NOT the case. I am now 11 days late on my period. (First day of last period was 11/25/13). So far I have taken 3 early detection pregnancy tests (First Response Gold). I took one the day after my missed period (evening), one 5 days later (morning urine) and one again today (11 days late, morning) -- ALL NEGATIVE. I never intended to get pregnant (obviously, as I'm only 1.5 months into my birth control), but I actually started to get my hopes up after being so late on my period and now I'm a little disappointed to be experiencing a...

So... I was going on a cruise and according to my birth control, I was going to be on my period, so, I purposely took the placebos before the cruise in order to get my period, then while on the cruise I would be on the pill. While on the cruise I had intercourse, and now (4 weeks later) I am spotting brown very sporadically. Is this normal because I messed up my pills? Since my last period it has been 5 weeks, so I'm guessing its normal, but I'm still kind of freaking out. ## Hello, Sabrina! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you're having. Yes, that can happen if you try to adjust your cycle, because it upsets the hormonal balance in your body. You should consult your doctor to be sure there is nothing else going on, but most likely it's just due to your making t...

On the 19th of this month my boyfriend and I had intercourse. At first he didn't use a condom, then I made him put one on. I've been on Lo Loestrin Fe for almost three months now and I'm not supposed to get my period for two weeks. Yesterday I got breakthrough bleeding and now I'm on my period. I haven't been the best this month with taking my pill at the same time although I've never missed a pill. What is wrong? I read something that said I could be pregnant is this possible? Someone please help! Thank you! ## Hello, Katie! How are you? Sorry about the problem you're having. If you didn't miss any pills, then there's a very, very small chance that you could be pregnant. Its most likely been caused by your taking them at odd times. Some women's b...

I've been taking Lo loestrin fe 1-10 for 4 months. I've stopped having my period this past month. I've missed a lot of pills.. any chance I could be pregnant? I took a diagnosis but it was negative... what do I do????? ## Hello, Tina! How are you? How late is your period? Yes, if you missed a lot of pills, then there is a chance you could be pregnant and it may be too soon for an at home test to be accurate. Have you consulted your doctor? You need to do so, that way they can do a clinical test for pregnancy and they can help you find a method that you can use more reliably, perhaps an IUD or the contraceptive shots. ## I haven't been getting my period b/c of the pill so I don't no this Sunday I started a new pack of pill and only took one I did call the doctor today...

Well, I was on this pill since May 1st, 2013 (had only 2 periods) and stopped taking it November 9th cause we are trying to have a baby. Actually we were planning to have our baby by the next summer (late August or September). Reading all these things about Lo loestrin fe made me so sad and disappointed, should we really wait more months to become pregnant? Is there any exceptions among you? Please if you have any hopeful comment, I would highly appreciate it! ## Hello, Nikky! How are you? Generally, when stopping an oral contraceptive, such as this, that suppresses ovulation, it can take 2 or 3 months, before your body rebalances your hormones naturally and you actually ovulate, again. It may happen sooner, but there's no way to know for sure, it can vary from woman to woman. Have ...

I had taken Loestrin Fe 24 for about two years without a period and about six months ago switched to Lo Loestrin. I still do not have a period. However, I generally have period-like symptoms every month during the placebo pills. This month though I have had severe breast pain and daily cramps starting at the placebos and continuing two weeks into my pack and today I noticed a brown/bloody discharge and more severe cramps. This is very strange to me as the pain has been more severe and I never experience spotting or anything. I had planned on calling my gyno today before I realized the discharge and am still planning on calling because I have never had an actual exam and have some anxiety about never having a period anyways. Any idea what this could be or has this happened to anyone else...

Should I be worrying? I've been taking it for 3 months now but I forgot to take it last night at my usual time. So I took 2 tonight at my usual time because that's when I realized that I didn't take it. I was on an antiobiotic for 5 days. I finished it on saturday and today is tuesday. Antibiotic can cancel out your bc's so I'm stressing. ## I don't think you should be worrying as long as your not sexually active while taking BC and antibiotics at the same time (due to the interaction you mentioned). For future reference, I also would've suggested sticking to your original dosing schedule as opposed to taking 2 pills to make up for your missed one. Reason being, is that the extra pill could offset the balance of your hormones, thus, increasing your susceptibi...

Hi all, I just had a few questions about my birth control. I started taking Lo Loestrin Fe a month ago, and my gyno directed me to start with the white pill on the first day of my period and go through the two white, two brown, and through the blue. I finished my last blue pill yesterday, and no sign of period yet. I was spotting randomly during the month of taking the pills which is normal according to side effects and I have had unprotected intercourse twice in the month (yes he did come in me, I know, not smart) well after the first week of taking the pills. I don't think I'm pregnant only because I'm not showing any signs, (but I will take a test and check!!) but I am showing signs of my period, which should be coming today or tonight. So my question is, if my period doe...

I've been taking Lo Lo Esterin Fe for a little over a year now and get pretty regular periods. I missed only one pill one time, and followed the directions on the pack. Recently, my periods have been nonexistent or very light and different. But only for the past two months. I know some people don't get the period on this pill, but is it possible to have normal periods and then have them stop? I've also been under a lot of stress lately. Hope it's not pregnancy! ## They are hormonal based contraceptives, so yes, this type of thing can happen, even if it's new for you. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. The stress could also be affecting it, as well as changes in diet, exercise or anything else you've recently adjusted in your life. However, if you're ...

I am getting ready to start a pack of Lo Loestrin FE, I am not due to have a cycle in about 2 weeks. If I start the pack on Sunday as directed will I start my period early? I noticed some have experienced spotting when first starting or it brought on a period. I thought the blue pills is whats stops your period. Thanks :-) ## These are hormonal based contraceptives, so it is possible to experience some breakthrough bleeding, when you start taking them. It's just a side effect of your body adjusting to the hormones. Breakthrough bleeding can include light spotting or a full flow similar to a period. This can happen for as long as the first 3 months. If you start them on the first day of your next period, they would prevent ovulation and you'll be immediately protected from pregna...

I had a miscarriage in July and was given clearance to resume normal activities on Aug. 9th and was provided Lo loestrin FE sample for bc. My Dr. told me I could start taking them that day, even though it wasn't the 1st day of my period. My period then started during week 3 of the pills and lasted 2 weeks. When it was time to get a new pack my insurance wouldn't cover it so I had to wait one day before I could get a new sample pack from my Dr. I began the new pack the same day I got the sample from my Dr. I just completed week 3 and my cycle has not started. Should it be on now since it started during week 3 last month or see what happens during week 4 of the pills? ## Hello, Tip! How are you doing? I am so very sorry about the miscarriage. As to the contraceptives, yes, you mos...

Im 17. I just finished the 2nd pack of Lo Loestrin Fe and my period still hasnt come. I take the pills regualarly every day and never missed one. I think i had some brown spotting, and that was it. I am sexually actuve, but i always use condoms as well as taking this pill. I'm starting to get really nervous that something went wrong and I could be pregnant. The first month of taking this pill, I took it on the first day of my period and continued as my gyno directed. Then, by the end of the first pack (after about 24 days or so) I got my period for the next month and that was regualr. Now, during my second pack of Lo Loestrin Fe, I'm still yet to get my period. I'm extremely nervous That I'm pregnant. ## It can be normal to skip your menstrual cycle, or have it be irregu...

My doctor told me to start on the first day of my period. On d pack the first pill say Sunday on top. If my period start on a Monday should i take the first pill on the pack that said Sunday or take the second pill that said Monday ## take the first pill on the first day of your period. the box the pill pack came in should have come with a list of drug facts and directions and such, and also with that should be stickers with the days of the week on them. so just peel off the one with Monday at the beginning (far left), and put that sticker over the days of the week at the top of the pack. That way you can keep track of what day of the pack you're on.

Hi. I was on loestrin fe 1/20 for about 1year and half. Love it. The best control pill ever. But is time for us to have a baby. I just stopped taking it on the last day of my period, (b/c we are now trying to get pregnant) which left one brown pill in the pack. How long will I have to wait before I can get pregnant or can I get pregnant right way(i.e when I ovulate)? I'm also worried because I didn't get my period for about three month before this last one (and spotting on August 20th) on the 17th of September(which was very little. I only needed a liner). And it ended on the 21th which was the day I purposely misses the pill. I'm supposed to ovulate oct 1st. Is not having my period for 3months gonna effect me ovulating in October 1st? Or is it possible we get pregnant. Than...

When will I start my period? I am 43. Started Lo Loestrin FE 1-10 on the first day of my cycle and felt terrible and bled non stop for 15 days. On that 15th day which was my 15th pill, I stopped taking it. Bled for four more days. When will I now get my actual period? On seven days when I SHOULD have gotten it or now not for at least three more weeks? ## Hello, Gina! How are you? Sorry about the problems that you had with this contraceptive. It's difficult to say when you'll get it now, since these are hormonal based. Basically, you disrupted your natural hormones by adding them and then did an abrupt withdrawal, so now your body has to balance back out on its own. Thus, you may get it in accordance with your normal, pre-pill cycle, or you may get it later. Have you consulted yo...

After stopping loestrin fe 1/20 how soon can I get my next period? Please help. We are ready for a baby. (: ## Hello, Lala! How are you? It's difficult to say, because it will usually take awhile for your body to balance your hormones back out on its own and for ovulation to occur. You should consult your doctor to be sure, but it's usually said to take about 3 months for things to get back to normal and for you to be able to get pregnant. Are there any other questions or concerns?

Dr give birth control call lo loestrin and she told me to take at the first day of my period this month and I just had it today . And she said maybe you not gona have ur period . So is that right the birth control will stop it . And after I leave it do I can get pregnant easily am just gona take from today until 11/3/13 ## Hi Saja, From what I understand, it is possible for you to miss a period if you take birth control on the first day of your menstrual cycle. However, hormones can affect different people in different ways, whereas some women will menstruate regularly and some won't. I don't think there is any harm in skipping, but if you are concerned about it, you should probably consult your doctor. As far as getting pregnant goes, I believe you are susceptible to pregnancy ...

Hi I've been taking this pill for about 5 years now and I've been normal from it beginning my period at the start of the week break and finishing it when I start taking my pill again. Now all of a sudden I had my period when I should began taking the pill again my period stop about two days later began again two periods in a month is this normal my periods are never really heavy except my last one before the most recent? ## Hello, Ferlicity! How are you? How old are you? Has anything else changed recently, such a sudden weight loss, or gain? More stress? A sudden increase in exercise? Are you on any other medications? This is a hormonal contraceptive and it is your hormones that control your menstrual cycle. All of the factors I've asked about can have an effect and may have...

So I started my first pack of lo loestrin fe on the 3rd and on the 16th I started spotting and It still hasnt stopped (todays the 25th) me and my boyfriend do not use condoms just the bc so should I be worried? I started spotting the day I was supposed to start my period. ## Hello, Baby! How are you? DId you start them on the first day of your period? If not, then you weren't immediately protected from pregnancy. If you start them at any other point in your cycle, you have to take them for 7 days, before they are fully effective. You're only immediately protected if you start taking them on the first day of your period. Have you consulted your doctor? Spotting can be normal, while your body is adjusting to the hormones, but it's best to get yourself checked out, just in case.
