Dark Brown Discharge After Missing One Pill Of Lo Loestrin Fe.

I started Lo Loestrin Fe at the beginning of December. Up until about 2 days ago, I took my pills every day at the right times. I had sex while on this, but my boyfriend never ejaculated inside me. Two days ago, I forgot to take my pill and took it the next day at the time I normally would along with that day's pill. Today, I noticed that I have very dark brown, mushy-like discharge. I haven't had sex in nearly a week and half and it's virtually impossible that I'm pregnant because I took my pills every day at the right time while I was having sex.

Could this just be my body reacting to missing the pill, i.e. dried blood? Could it be an infection? Does this require a call to the gyno?
