Hi, I am an Indian, age 78, 5'7" in height and weigh 60 kg. I'm a vegan, I do yoga and light exercise. All parameters pathological test reports normal except that I've been on high blood pressure medicine for over 20yrs. Previously I was taking atenolol 50mg and amlodipine 5mg, whereas my blood pressure was quite controlled. About 4 years back symptoms of Afib developed. Doc prescribed telma CT 40/6.25mg, metoprolol 50 + cilacar 10 and xeralto 20 in the morning and telma 40 in the evening. My BP still ranges around 150/95, no improvement in Afib - which repeats every month or so. Is it not a case of being over-medicated? Can I go back to just taking amlodipine? How do I get rid of Afib? Are there any changes you can suggest? ## It is really hard to say, and it would be b...

I have been taking losartan for about 3 weeks now and I wanted to know if it changes your menstrual cycle because as of right now I'm pretty late or could it be a possibility of pregnancy? ## Hello, Candy! How are you? No, causing a delay or lengthening of your cycle isn't listed among the side effects of Losartan that are provided by the FDA. They typically include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. How late are you? Have you done a test, yet? ## Same here! My period is late and I started taking Lorsartan about 3 weeks ago. My period is usually right on time. There must be a connection. ## Hello I also started taking Losartan and my period is late could it be because of the medicine?

Would like to know if this happened to anyone else. I am also in menopause now 7 yrs on no HRT's. ## Was forced to take Coreg while in hospital for congestive heart failure. Because I have a G6PD deficiency, I had a hemolytic event in hospital. My liver turned red, my skin and eyeballs turned yellow, my stomach and back were in so much pain that they gave me morphine. But they did not stop the drug despite my liver damage. They told me that this is a cardiology unit. Shut up and that your medicine. This drug was taken in tandom with Atacand, which also causes liver damage. Both of these drugs also made me diz...

Hello, does anyone have advice or comments regarding severe sweating when running while taking Valsartan (160mg)? I’m a distance runner and not a huge sweater especially indoors on the treadmill. Today is my second day on this Rx and I had extreme sweating on my whole body. Stopped at 2 miles. Anything to worry about? I drink plenty of Gatorade while running. ## Hello JR, I would like to start by saying our bodies do tend to act differently when we start taking new medications but be cautious because the manufacturer instructs you to immediately seek medical attention of you feel like you are about to faint or that your heart beat becomes irregular. With that being said one of the listed side effects of Valsartan is feeling tired/lethargic. Reportedly this medication can make you ...

When we tested my blood pressure it was through the roof and my heart rate was 111. I was on losartan 50mg a little over 3 weeks and started having chest pain. The first 3 times I had chest pain thought it might be heartburn. By the fourth week of taking losartan this pass Monday night I thought I was having a heart attack. Called my dr and went in they did an EKG (everything was fine) and the dr. did not want me to come off the losartan she now prescribed losartan with a 12.5 water pill. I have an appointment with a cardiologist on Jan 6 of next week. I am still having chest pain but not as bad. Should I stop the medicine? ## Hello, Suzanne! How are you? ## My husband was recently put on this medication for his blood pressure. Since taking it he has lost 40 pounds in a month, his skin is pale, he has to eat tons of fiber and laxatives to have a bowel movement, he is anxious, he has no appetitie, and he sleeps almost instantly after taking it. This is not near all of the side effects that he has experienced from taking this medication. When he called his physician his physician told him that he may have to reduce his dosage. Reduce his dosage? ! Get him off of this medication, it is killing him ! I have never seen my husband so weak, so thin, so pale. He says he feels like he is dying. So if you cannot go off of this medication without weening off of it, how do I go about getting him completely off of it before it kills him? Tommorrow wh...

I have trouble swallowing pills. Can you crush Losartan 50mg and take it, or will it take away from the effects of the pill? ## Unless you have been instructed otherwise, this can be done with any regular release medication. I break my Losartan in half to take it twice a day, instead of just once, since it works better for me that way. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Ziac 5/6.25 mg Mylan Generic l have been taking this medication about 3 yrs now and become therapeutic, but 2 months ago l went to walmart for refill and was given Unichem generic which l have being reacting badly to it. CVS told me they have it, l switched but only gave me 15 days worth and now saying is back ordered or may be discontiuned. What is going on with our healthcare, is it all about american company or the benefit patient derive. lf it is necessary to switch generic brands then they should evaluate the potent and effectiveness of the new generic before putting it on the market ## Unfortunately, under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, the FDA allows generics to differ from the name brand by as much as plus, or minus 20% of the active ingredients. The FDA considers that to be an a...

I have successfully lost 100lbs over the last 2 years. I went off chlorthalidone three weeks ago and I have gained about 10 pounds while lowering my calories by 50 a day. My period and blood pressure are staying great but I'm depressed and don't want to get fat again. I had been on 25 mg every other day for nearly six years. I then stopped taking it at once, not gradually. I wasn't told to do that, perhaps because I only took a pill every other day anyway. ## That could be some rebound fluid retention, since this medication is a diuretic, according to FDA reports, it may take awhile for things to settle back out and return to normal. Stopping abruptly could also cause edema, and elevated heart rate. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medi...

I was prescribed this for Afib. ## This medication is listed by the FDA as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotensions. Momma V, how are you doing? If my fill date is for Sunday the 29th but my pharmacy is closed on Sunday, can I get them the day before since they aren’t open on the fill date and I will run out? ## You should be able to, but it may also depend on what type of medication it is, many pharmacies are very strict about controlled substances, and require them to be filled the very day they are due. But it doesn't hurt to ask them to find out, the worst they can say is no. We've yet to have a pharmacy refuse, but our medications are mostly maintenance for blood pressure, heart issues, asthma, and epilepsy, so we don't have anything on the real controlled list, so to speak. When it comes to most other medications, which aren't controlled substances, you can usually get them filled several days early, ...

Why is Pur bloka being used in the treatment of migraine and Anachroid cyst? ## Pur-Bloka contains the active ingredient propranolol hydrochloride, in doses of 10 or 40mg tablets. Propranolol Hydrochloride's principal effect is to reduce the response of the heart to stress and exercise and it reduces blood pressure in patients with hypertension. The indications for this drug however, have no apparent relation to Arachnoid cysts or migraine headaches. The only conclusion I can reach is that Propranolol may help with specific symptoms or your body's response to such conditions; possibly allowing your body to relax when either of these conditions could make someone restless with insomnia. Just a thought.. but I hope this helps! Have you discussed this yet with any doctor or physici...
