No registration is required and your identity remains anonymous. For several months I was taking Coreg tabs, 12.5 mg 2X day. I had mitral valve repair, and my MD doubled my dosage. Now I can barely move or concentrate--and have almost no energy. How long does getting acclimated to this drug at my docage take. I find this drug's side affects to be almost worse than my symptoms??? ## According to the FDA, Coreg may cause dizziness, fatigue, increased urination, joint pain, and vision changes as side effects. Ref: Coreg Information How long have you been on the new dosage? Typically, side effects last about 4 to 5 weeks, until your body gets used to the new dose.
1 REPLY UpdatedI have stage 1 chf. I had a mitral valve replaced with a St Jude valve. I am taking 25 mg of Coreg twice a day. Wouldn't a pacemaker keep the heart rate up? Do I still need Coreg? I exercise regularly, eat a heart healthy diet and have no symptoms. ## Congestive heart failure is caused by fluid build up from elevated blood pressure, and usually elevated sodium levels. Your heart starts to become so stressed that it weakens and can no longer pump properly, which causes blood and fluid to back up into the lungs, a person develops edema, and usually starts to experience tiredness, and shortness of breath. Thus, it is very important to keep your blood pressure regulated, too, not just your heart rate. You can learn more on Medline Plus Heart Failure. A medication, such as Coreg, can als...
1 REPLY Updatedtablets for heart ## is there ashortage of coreg?is something wrong with this drug?i am told by medco that its no longer available. thanks ## Coreg contains the active ingredient Carvedilol, it is often listed under the active ingredient, since it is now available as a generic. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, increased urination, and hypotension. Shortages tend to come and go, so they usually eventually rectify and the medication becomes available, again. Is there anything else I can help with?
2 REPLIES Updatedwhats this med for ## a doctor in the hospital prescribed this medication when I was released. I was in for detox - alcholism. ## This is a beta blocker that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. It is common for someone to experience elevated blood pressure, when detoxing, so it may have been prescribed as a precautionary measure. Were you prescribed any other medications?
2 REPLIES UpdatedHello. I was wondering if Coreg could affect my O2 levels? It just seemed that a few weeks after starting this medication my O2 level dropped to 85. I am now on O2 24/7, but all tests and imagery come back good, never smoke and my doctors do not agree on a diagnosis, maybe COPD but won't confirm. So I thought I would see if there was any connection since I passed all my tests including a stress test just before taking this medication for afib. Thanks. ## Whether or not it's listed as a side effect, I think because you noticed a change in O2 levels shortly after starting Coreg, that Coreg is likely to blame. Have you experienced any difficulty breathing since being on Coreg? According to NIH.gov, the following symptoms are listed as side effects of Coreg (Carvedilol): -rapid brea...
1 REPLY UpdatedStarted taking Coreg approximately 1 yr ago. Started at 10mg daily then increased to 10mg bd for past 5mths. About 1 month now is having increasing fleeting bouts of dizziness. Would like to know if this happened to anyone else. I am also in menopause now 7 yrs on no HRT's. ## Was forced to take Coreg while in hospital for congestive heart failure. Because I have a G6PD deficiency, I had a hemolytic event in hospital. My liver turned red, my skin and eyeballs turned yellow, my stomach and back were in so much pain that they gave me morphine. But they did not stop the drug despite my liver damage. They told me that this is a cardiology unit. Shut up and that your medicine. This drug was taken in tandom with Atacand, which also causes liver damage. Both of these drugs also made me diz...
4 REPLIES UpdatedI've been on coreg 4 days. Side effects are so bad, I'm so tired I can hardly move and just feel s****y. I stopped for 2 days for a stress evaluation and had no problem at that time. Then I took one 3.125 last night. I don't want to take anymore. Is there any problem stopping treatment? My blood pressure wasn't that high to begin with, maybe around 140 over 80. ## Hello, Ralph! How are you? Those side effects can be normal for the first few weeks after starting such a medication. As reported by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. However, they are usually transient and should go away, once your body gets used to the medication. The danger to not taking it is that your blood pressure could keep going higher. It's actua...
4 REPLIES UpdatedI have been on carvedilol 12.5 mg twice a day for about 2 months and am wondering if it might be the cause of what i would describe as mild to major panic attacks as soon as i wake up. They are scary. I am filled with a sense of doom. I am tired but get up ,drink some coffee and toast and start moving. This helps. I am also being treated with wellbutrin for depression (low dose as well as lorazepam. This all scares me and i need help figuring what is triggering these attacks. I recently had a ICD biventricular pace maker put in because of CHF which was diagnosed some 6 months ago. Prior to carvedilol my DR. had me taking metoprolol which gave me nightmares and disturbed sleep. So he switched me to carvedilol. I also high hypothyroidism and take levothyroxine for that. I most always feel...
4 REPLIES UpdatedMy husband takes Coreg for blood pressure and he also was just given avalide with it. Isn't Avalide the same kink of drug? ## has anyone out there taken methadone (im on 140 mgs) and phentermine together? if so what kind of experience did you have? i have been on methadone for 5 years and gained almost 60 lbs but i am scared to start the phentermine i was prescribed! please help! ## Coreg contains Carvedilol, and Avalide contains Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, so they are not exactly the same, though both are used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Multiple medications are often prescribed, when someone's blood pressure is dangerously high, to help bring it down as fast, and as safely as possibly. Once it is at a normal level, medications can be lo...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI am suffering from stage lV CHF and taking Coreg as well as 300 mg.Hawthorne daily. I worry about negative consequences of Coreg as I believe the Hawthorne smothers the negative effects. Anyone else taking a combination of Coreg & Hawthorn ? ## Is Coreg the only medication you take for your CHF? Aren't you on a diuretic? The Carvedilol in Coreg can help with cardiac function and lower blood pressure, but it doesn't remove the fluid that's associated with CHF. Learn more Coreg details here. Hawthorn extract has been shown to improve the life span and cardiac function of CHF patients, in some trials, but I have heard nothing about it inhibiting the bad side effects of any medication. ## HEY TOMMY I GOT SOME QUESTION ABOUT THIS ISSUE! PS I PLAN ON TAKING THIS COMBO MY EMAI...
3 REPLIES UpdatedI have been on Carvedilol since December. It's better than Bisoprolol was. My side effects still are sometimes I get so cold I can't get warm no matter how many blankets I have on me, etc. Wheezing after walking a short distance, I never used to have that. Some days I feel down right useless. I felt so much better before beta blockers. Is there anything that won't cause wheezing? Currently I'm on 6.25 mg twice a day. Oh and I have no libido, I told my husband I'm gonna buy him a dead fish! ## I had the same issues, when taking Carvedilol, though I didn't have a husband then, so that part wasn't a concern. But the FDA does list these issues as being common side effects. However, due to being cold so often, I finally had to switch to Losartan. The U.S. FDA list...
1 REPLY UpdatedI've been taking carvedilol for three weeks now. I had to be rushed to the hospital one night because my blood pressure went up to 203 over 116. Never in my life has my blood pressure been that high. They had took me off of metoprolol 25mg because I was having irregular heartbeats for about 6 months. But with this new medicine I have dizzy spells, I'm extremely weak, I have right side front pain and back pain, sometimes I have numbness on 1 side of my face also and both of my hands. When I walk my legs are off balance. I wanna stop taking this medicine, but I'm afraid I'm going to have a stroke. I just need to know are there others this is happening to? ## Your not alone. Worst medicine ever. I've never felt so bad in my entire 43 years on this earth. Beware people. ...
4 REPLIES UpdatedI've noticed that about a half an hour after taking my dose, my bladder starts leaking. I asked my cardiologist about it but she had not heard that before. My primary doctor suggested that this could be a side affect. ## Hello, Sandy! How are you? Yes, though it isn't common, the FDA does report that it has been known to occur in some women that take this medication. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and hypotension. You may need to speak to your cardiologist about trying a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you so much! I knew I wasn't imagining this! ## I also have been having major bladder problems never though it could be from taking carvedilol
3 REPLIES UpdatedDeveloped bronchitis, breathing problems on mild exertion, excess musous. Had several courses of antibiotics, chest xrays to check for pneumonia. Finally referred to a pulmonary specialist and put on an inhaler for "wheezing" and maybe asthma. He wants to do a CAT scam now. My daughter researched and thinks it may be the Coreg. My GP switched me to another drug and within less than two days I noticed by balance and dizziness has improved. ## Hi, Leon! Sorry about the medical issues you're having. And yes, it very well could have been due to the Coreg, it contains the active ingredient Carvedilol and it has been known to cause some problematic side effects in some people that take it. I was on it for awhile and it caused very bad Raynaud's and made me miserable. It works ...
2 REPLIES Updatedis this generic coreg mfg or distributed by legacy ## Hello, Judy! How are you? Yes, this tablet contains 12.5mgs of Carvedilol, the active ingredient in Coreg. It is actually manufactured by Zydus Pharmaceuticals, but Legacy is a licensed distributor. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY Updatedis carca-25 safe to take for high blood pressure ## Hi, Charlotte! How are you? Carvedilol is no more or less safe than any other medication and it is actually known to cause less side effects than many others. Learn more Carvedilol details here. Really, it is much safer to take the medication your doctor wants you to try, than it is to just let your blood pressure continue to soar out of control, since that creates the risk of heart attack, stroke and congestive heart failure. Has your doctor prescribed it?
1 REPLY Updatedfor heart failure ## Need to know about Carbotelol, Coreg, and Crestor-indications of use, precribed dosage ranges, side effects, contraindications with kidney problems ## The name of the first medication is actually Carvedilol, it is a beta blocker that's used to help treat high blood pressure and several cardiac conditions. You can learn more Carvedilol details here. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and decreased blood flow to extremities. Coreg is just the name brand for it, not a different medication. Crestor contains the active ingredient Rosuvastatin, which is most commonly used to help lower cholesterol. Learn more Crestor details here. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches. As to the kidney issue, that really depend...

1 REPLY UpdatedI take Coreg CR in the morning (that is what is recommended on the insert) however, it makes me very dizzy for about three to four hours. Would it be okay to take in the evening? What is the purpose of taking this in the a.m.? ## Coreg CR contains the active ingredient Carvedilol, it is most commonly used to treat congestive heart failure. I'm guessing the reason they probably have you take it in the morning is due to the fact that it's time released, that way it lasts all day. The dizziness can be a common side effect of these types of medications, along with: anxiety, nightmares and panic attacks. You can read more here: this site is not medical professionals, so I can only advise you to check with your doctor or pharmacist, before changing your dosing schedule. Is there anyth...
