Does it matter if I take this med in the am or pm? I also take lotrel and microzide for high blood pressure in the am. Bystolic was prescribed for heart rhythm. ## Hello, Eddie! How are you? I just started on 5mg of Lisinopril. I feel a little tired while exercising but nothign else so far - how long does it take side effects to start if you're going to have them? ## You should start experiencing them within a few days after you start the medication and they will usually last anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks, which is about the same amount of time that it takes your body to get used to the medication. Generally, if you just took one extra tablet it isn't going to have a very large effect. Your blood pressure may go a little lower than normal, but this medication does take time to reach its full effect in your body, so for any severe issues to occur, you'd usually have to take extra regularly for several weeks. However, if your blood pressure and heart rate did start to go lower than normal, you may experience some dizziness, severe drowsiness, trouble breathing and if you do, then you should seek medical attention. Age 44 Female, family history of heart attacks, strokes, hypertension. Finally went to the internist after feeling weird for about one year--I kept testing high BP repeatedly over the last year. I have 6 members of my family on lisinopril. Day One Lisiniopril HCTZ Report. To ease into it, I took a half pill (10 mg pill cut in half, so 5 mg). Side effects started within 2 or 3 hours. I had a (all too often these days) migraine when I woke up, so I cannot blame the drug for that. After I woke up, I took my BP 131/85, Pulse 83. Then I took my first half pill. I have only taken 5 or 6 of the atenolol but my bp and my heart rate is fluctuating way too much. It has dropped my heart rate to 51 this morning so I'm not taking this anymore. I'm going to start taking a supplement called "under pressure". I have no other health problems except a sinus problem. I had always taken supplements for my bp which worked fine until I went to a dr for my sinuses and the dr., gave me two nasal sprays. One of them was named msg which is a steroid that caused my bp to get out of control. The doctor put me on amlodipine-benazepril, which gave me tinnitus, then he gave me lisinopril which swelled my tongue.
