Can Metoprolol become less effective at reducing heart rate over time? I've been taking it for about 2 years now. About 6 months ago my heart rate returned to its prior levels (high 50s for resting and low 60's for walking, etc). Nothing bad, but it was a curious step function in the charts. When the drug was working, it had reduced those levels by about 10 beats/minute. My cardiologist doesn't know of any reason why this should happen, so I'm checking to see if others have seen this.. I started to take a GLP-1 (ZEPBOUND) around the same time and wonder if that could be related. ## Metoprolol doesn't usually "wear off" the way some medicines do, but people can see changes in how it affects their heart rate over time. Sometimes your body just adapts a bit, or ...

When I should use pot cl and what are the benefits? ## Hi, Abdo! This is just a potassium supplement, it is vital to our overall health and a deficiency in it can cause quite a few health issues, such as high blood pressure, elevated heart rate and irregular heart rhythm. However, you shouldn't take it, unless your doctor has actually done a blood test and told you that you need to take it, because too much of it can also be very dangerous. Did your doctor prescribe this for you? ## I was prescribed pot cl micro 10 meg along with water pill. Now that I'm not taking the water pill I've been still taking the potassium since August. What danger am in. I feel something going on ## Can I crush these very large tablets? ## What happens if I don’t get enough potassium?

I am taking Clonidine for an off label use to treat Bruxism(teeth clenching at night). Currently 0.2mg just at night ,but considering trying 0.3mg. My questions are 1) I've heard some people develop a tolerance to Clonidine after taking it for a longtime(so it becomes ineffective and the dose must be increased or treatment stopped). How long can I take before I should take a break ,so I don;t develop this tolerance? 2) If I take 0.3mg and then want to stop taking it , if i reduce my dose by 0.05(half a tablet) every 3-4 days should that avoid rebound hypertension ? My doctor said withdrawal and tolerance are not problems at all so i can stop cold when i want, but don;t think it is a drug she has experience prescribing (only prescribed it as I suggested trying it ,from studies I had ...

I was taking 10MG of Lisinopril one time per day. I ended up with a cough. My doctor changed it to 25 MG of Losartan and now my blood pressure has gone back up. Are my new dozes equal to or less than my previous dosage. I do not understand the conversion of MG from drug to drug. ## Hello, Mike! How are you? How long ago did you make the switch? There may be a slight rebound effect from stopping the Lisinopril and starting the new one waiting for it to reach its full level of efficacy. Or it could be that the Losartan doesn't work for you and you may need to switch to something else. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Losartan as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. How high are your current readings? ## Hi, thanks for asking, I ...

I take Carvedilol which states that the mfg. is "ZYDU". What is the correct name of this manufacturer and where are they located? ## Zydus Pharmaceuticals Their U.S. headquarters is in Pennington, New Jersey, but they do also have facilities in India. However, regardless of where a medication is manufactured, if it is available to be prescribed in the U.S., then it has met the same strict FDA manufacturing, safety, and efficacy standards as all other prescription medications. Carvedilol may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. White oval pill with rph on one side and 121 on the other. This is a Canadian drug - I don't know if things are different in the US. ## Some are different, some aren't, so it can vary. This tablet in particular contains 300mgs of Ratio-Irbesartan, which is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure, and certain cardiac conditions. Ratio-Irbesartan details and description can be found here. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. I need to know the inactive ingredients because I'm allergic to talc. I had a reaction which is low blood pressure, dizziness, irregular heartbeat, and feeling very tired. Unable to walk. On a patient with heart failure. The did well with the aid of another water pill. ## The inactive ingredients for Zaroxolyn 2.5 mg are listed as: - Magnesium Stearate - Microcrystalline Cellulose - D&C Red No. 33 NDC: 53014-975 What you've reported sounds like some of the possible side effects of this drug according to DailyMed: dizziness/lightheadedness, drowsiness, fatigue, weakness. And just to confirm - you are taking the brand name and not a generic form, right?

What is not allowed while taking lisinopril; food, drugs or drinks. ## Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure. If you are being treated for high blood pressure, you should be informed to avoid food or beverage products that contain real licorice or licorice extract, since it can raise blood pressure. The only food/beverage interaction is that you should watch out for items that contain very high levels of potassium. Getting to much potassium, while taking Lisinopril can lead to Hyperkalemia, which can be a dangerous condition. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and stomach pain. I've been taking lisinopril, lupin 20 mg. for a number of years My last rx was refilled recently and the pharmacy substituted it with actavis 20 mg. With the lupin, my b.p. readings were always good. With the actavis my b.p.is elavated. I have also experienced a terrible rash and intermittent hives. Could the change in meds have caused this? Yesterday I was prescribed verapamil. (haven't started to take it yet). The pharmacy has filled the prescription with verapamil-ER 120 mg MYLAN. I have severe chemical allergies (paraphenadiamine, Balsam of Peru, methylcloroisothiolizone, quinoline mix and wool alchohols). My pharmacy has filled my lisinopril prescription with drug from Wockhardt the first month, Acta (Actavis?) the second month, and now Lupin! Lupin is located in Mumbai. Is their GMP as strict as in the US? Do I really want to continue taking lisinopril made in India? What is all this switching generics doing to my body? should I get a new pharmacy where they fill it consistently with drug from the same company? ## You are in no danger from them regularly switching manufacturers, no harm will come of it. Learn more Lisinopril details here. And the one manufactured by Lupin is made to the same strict standards as all others that are available in the U.S. Otherwise, they wouldn't be available here from your pharmacy. I am a 64-year old male and I am 6'0 184 pounds. My average blood pressure before i got on Lisinopril 10mg had crept up to "low 140s" over low to mid 80's. Over the last few years the systolic number rose from lower to upper 120's to consistently in the 140's. I started taking 10mg Lisinopril on April 22, 2025 and my blood pressure actually averages right around 122 / 76, so no complaints for my average. I have taken readings every morning since April 22 so, all of MAY, JUNE and JULY and now a few days in August. HOWEVER, I have a number of readings between 99 and 110, many, many more between 110 and 120. Likewise I have many readings between 120 - 130 and a handful of numbers in the 130's. My diastolic numbers have mostly been in the 70's but more freque...

Over the last few months my hair has gotten very thin, brittle, and I’m shedding a LOT. My doctor said it was probably hormones and my age (45 yo female). I started taking Biotin and special shampoos, but they didn’t help. Recently I started digging into the Lisinopril side effects and hair loss is cited. I told my doctor and she told me to discontinue. Has anyone had hair loss on this med, then regrowth after discontinuation? ## Dear WH, Sorry to hear about your hair loss. Based on my own investigation, hair loss isn't "officially" listed by the manufacturer or drug labeller as a side effect of Lisinopril. However, there are numerous mentions of this occurring in patient reviews, so I would consider its consumers to be a worthy citation in my book. I suppose it...

My lisinopril (90 day supply, just opened) will expire in 1.5 months. Can I finish it off or do I have to destroy it at the end of January? ## Hello, Lynne! How are you? This medication does not become dangerous once expired, but it may start to lose effectiveness. Thus, in reality, disposing of it, once it expires would be the best thing to do, however, you may want to ask your doctor and pharmacist if you can still finish it, since its loss of effectiveness will most likely be minimal by then. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with? ## How long after the expiration date of lisinopril can you still take it? ## That’s bull about disposing it on the expera...

I had taken losartan50/hctz 12.5 for 10 years, In recently years I suffered dry coughing and bad running nose allergy. I found out this is the side effect of losartan. It just may not be the right medication for you and you may need to switch to something else. ## This is very interesting to read. I started metoprolol about 6 months ago, and after a few weeks on it, I started having pain in my upper legs (thigh area) and sometimes lower legs. I complained to Dr and they say it’s not from the med. I never had a leg problem and it’s getting worse. After sitting, when I get up my legs feel heavy and painful.
