i've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol. i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred. is this withdrawal? how long will it last? i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad. ## I am experiencing the same thing and I am tapering off of the metoprolol. I have only been on for a couple of months and now the withdrawal is just as bad. I am down to 12.5 mg two times a day. It is tough. ## it went away after a week or so. i feel great now, and my BP and heart rate have risen slightly, but thats the reason we stopped it. i've lost en...
If any one can tell me where to get some over the counter I would be very grateful thank you. ## There are actually quite a few people asking about this product here in the forum. From what I could gather, if it is still available, you do have to go to Germany to obtain it (and may even have to get a prescription for it there). And after having read more details, other users are suggesting that it could even be banned by now. Below is a response from another user in the forums who states that it is currently banned: "If this helps, X112 was taken off the market. It was banned from several countries because, as that one person correctly said, it was a form of speed. That's why it was illegal for millitary to take. When I was stationed in Germany in 1999, it was not over the count...

My PCP prescribed Hydralazine to treat my BP after taking amlodipine, metoprolol, and carvidelol - not working for me. I was hoping that this hydralazine will work for me, 10mg bid 2 only. Now in 15 days taking this med, I always have shortness of breath, feeling that my lungs are super congested. Barely breathe and all in the morning, my anxiety became so aggressive, feeling of constantly sad. But I was also being told that it is just a matter of time that my body will adjust or adapt this meds. But it's so hard waking up in the morning breathless, so when I stopped taking these meds, all bad symptoms are gone. Please help, I'm worried what if my BP will spike. I'm back to my alternative meds, boiled lemon grass I drink morning at night and I think that helps my blood press...
I was put on 25 mg. of chlortalidone several months ago. I lost a lot of weight and felt terrible. I contacted my dr. and they had me cut it in half. I continued to not feel well and started having irregular heartbeat, tingling and numbness, muscle cramps. My dr. sent me to a cardiologist who ran a stress test and echocardiogram. It showed irregular heart rythmns but he said he thought I was ok. I had read about low potassium while on diuretics so he asked if I'd had a blood test (which I hadn't nor was it ever suggested). My potassium came back below normal so the cardiologist & fam dr. were all worried and told me to increase my potassium and get retested in a week. I did and my results came back normal. But I still feel awful--irregular heartbeat, tingling, stomach issues...
Hi, I'm trying to find out what a tablet is: It is small, round and white. It has the letter R imprinted on one side of it and 177 on the other. Does anyone know what this might be??? ## tablet identity white round marking R/177 ## it is a tablet that controls blood pressure ## it is called AmlodipineSQQWPM ## White round pill with 177 on one side and R on the other side
I took 100mg Losartan Potassium at 3pm but I think I may have taken one at 3 am also. I work shift work and I don't remember taking the 3 am dose. Will I have a problem taking a dose 12 hours apart? ## Hi Craig, From what I've researched, standard adult dosing for Losartan is considered to be anywhere from 25mg-100mg taken daily in one or two divided doses. However, the prescribing packet doesn't go on to mention any specific time intervals. Having said that, it seems to me like you're supposed to wait a full 24 hours after your last 100mg dose before taking anymore... So if you aren't sure about the time frame in which you took your last dose then I can't say there's a right or wrong answer... You may just have to be your own best judge through self monitori...
Dear all Medical Practitioners in this Forum. I am having mild Hypertension with a blood pressure reading of 130/90 at the most. I had been prescribed Atenolol 50mg/day and Nifidepine 3x daily. I did read before that Atenolol tends to give you Psoriasis and this had appeared on me somewhere around my right leg. Can I change this prescription later? Please advise me as to what are the best remedial actions to be taken before things get out of control. Thank You. ## Sorry, there are no medical practitioners on this site. However, if the drug is causing unwanted and unpleasant side effects, you should discuss it with your doctor. There are other options available that you can use. ## I stopped taking Atenolol on my own 2-3 weeks ago when I read about possible problems resulting in my decis...
The pill is orange and round and on one side it has a crescent or half moon the other side has the number 850 ## Hi Abe, Based on the description provided, I located your round orange pill to be a 1mg Guanfacine hydrochloride extended-release tablet, marketed as a treatment for high blood pressure and ADHD. For verification, this particular pill is manufactured by Actavis (who is also known for their half moon logo). According to nih.gov Guanfacine lowers blood pressure by decreasing your heart rate and relaxing blood vessels, allowing blood to travel more easily throughout the body. This medication also affects certain parts of the brain that relate to one's attention and impulse. This aspect is where it has gained light as a treatment for ADHD. I hope this helps! ## Hi Gabe! Do yo...

My doctor have me taking 1/2 tablet Metoprol XL 50mg 1 time of day for 15 days what am i using this tablet for ## Metoprolol is a beta blocker that has several medical uses, such as treating high blood pressure, certain cardiac conditions and to help protect the kidneys. I am not, however, aware of any that would only require 15 days of treatment. Have you tried asking your doctor? ## Do you know Verwon, and Happy Holidays by the way, that starting next year if you have CVS Caremark and possibly other Drug management groups, Metoprolol ER 50mg TAB will no longer be covered, at least for the 3 month $3 supply. I am currently without a Doctor and have 5 fills left as the Doctor wrote for a year. Metoprolol in the non ER formula will still be filled. I have options including the Drug Savin...
Has anyone used CBD broad spectrum (non thc) gummies for anxiety? I am having A LOT of anxiety after weaning off of bisoprolol (beta blocker) 9 weeks ago. I've never suffered from anxiety my whole life, so I know it's from this med. I was given a PRN script of xanax (low dose, .25 mg) from my doctor to take until the anxiety passes from this BB withdrawal. But the problem is the anxiety, for some reason, has ramped up the last 2 weeks. In the last 13 days, I've needed to take 1 xanax a day for 10 of 13 of those days. Looking for an alternative to xanax until this anxiety passes, I decided to try CBD gummies. I have only been on them for a day, but it didn't really help at all, and I ended up taking a xanax at the end of the night. My question is: do the non-thc CBD gummi...
I was on bisoprolol for 2 years, and weaned off (with my cardiologist's ok) due to side effects (lightheadedness and low level anxiety). It's been 9 weeks. The lightheadedness is much better. But the last 2 weeks, the anxiety has gone through the roof: nervousness, anxiousness, edginess! My PCP gave me 1 script of xanax to help me get through the bad days until the anxiety subsides (low dose, .25 mg). And up until now, I've only had to take it a few days a week, every few weeks. Out of the last 11 days, I had to take a xanax 9 out of them. Up until I started taking bisoprolol, I never suffered from any form of anxiety. Or ever needed to take any type of benzo, for any reason. I am feeling pissed off, defeated. If anyone went through this and is feeling better, I could really...
Updated in BisoprololIs it ok to take instaflex if u have heart problems, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and thyriod problems? ## Instaflex is an over the counter product that is claimed to help with joint health, so as nothing more than a dietary supplement, it hasn't actually been tested for possible interactions with medications and health conditions. However, since I am also a hypertension and cardiac patient, I can tell you that one of the ingredients in it is Black Pepper and it can cause blood pressure elevations in some people. It can really depend on the person, so I'd suggest checking with your doctor, or pharmacist, before taking it. From what I've found, any of the various pepper extracts can cause blood pressure elevations in some people, so you have to be careful about taking th...
Hi, I've been prescribed Irbesartan 75 mg plus Amlodipine 5 mg. I'm wondering if it is necessary to take both daily since my BP and cholesterol are okay? I'm 70 years old. I've heard some bad reports on Amlodipine. Does anybody have any experience with these medications? I think Amlodipine was making me nauseous. I also feel that my Dr isn't very interested in my side effects, as I have COPD and asthma as well. Thanks. ## What are your usual blood pressure readings? In most cases, if someone is stable, and their blood pressure is being maintained at good numbers, then there is no reason to add more medications, most doctors usually try to lower the number of medications that someone takes. However, if you've been taking them both all along, then it may be the com...
i have stopped taking propranolol 80mg 3days ago and would like to know if there is any side effects coming off them ## I had problems just stopping cold turky after one doctor told me it would be ok, i felt panicky and anxious. Another doctor said to reduce the dose slowly over time or i will get withdrawal syptoms, One day on, one day off (2 weeks)then one day on two days off (2 weeks) so on, i still had problems and had to do it over the space of months. I am now down to one morning dose a day and ready to stop completely (after 6 months) and am feeling ok ## Any drug or substance that you take into your body for a prolonged period of time will cause some mild withdrawal symptoms if you abruptly stop using it, even if they don't consider it addictive. Because your body gets used ...
I started Metoprolol Tartrate 25mg being one tab every 12 hours. I was in the hospital with a blood pressure of 200/130, sometimes higher with a high pulse and irregular heartbeat. I experienced tightening in chest, slight difficulity in breathing, and extreme variables in my pressures. Most of the time they are in the normal range, but occasionally my systolic has dropped under 100 and my diastolic was 58. I am monitoring my foods and am also taking Ativan twice daily. I am terrified. Anybody else have these variables in pressures? I have only been on the medicines for four weeks now. I have had diabetes and thyroid neg testing. I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder??? Never heard of it before. All my family including five siblings have high blood pressure as well. ## These types of vari...
I was on amlodipine medicine for at least two and half years and I have gone through a real hell. It all started with dry cough. I thought like any other medicine the side effect will wear off, but it didn't. Then after a year later came back pain and it really got worse. I never thought that it was the side effect from this medicine. It went on for two and half years before I realized. I was running around town to get my back pain solved. I must have had more than 50 sessions of physio and chiro. I saw that I wasn't getting anywhere and I started doing some research on computer. After reading so much on this medicine, I went to my doctor and told her to change my medicine. It has been almost three weeks and I already see that there is a big change in my back. Most of the pain i...
Just learned that the chronic cough I've had for two years might be caused by this med. What would be the alternative Rx? ## Sorry to hear about your bad experience with Lisinopril. I personally used to have severe hypertension for a number of years, but was able to control it by controlling more of my eating habits and exercising. What works for me may not work for everyone, but my initial advice is to look into natural ways (before prescription alternatives) such as: Low/no sodium foods to help reduce inflammation and water retention, supplementation of garlic, as well as having a diet that is rich in potassium and magnesium. Other dietary and non dietary options for lowering blood pressure can include (but are not limited to): L-Theanine Magnesium Glycinate Coenzyme Q10 Garlic Ha...
I have been taking 10 mg/day of Lisinopril for 3 months and have developed a tightening in the chest and flu like symptoms. Within the past 3 weeks I have felt progressively worse and would like to stop. Is it ok to just quit or must I wean myself off? ## Lisinopril is used to help control high blood pressure. That said, most of these medications can cause dangerous rebound effects if you have been on them for a period of time and abruptly stop taking them, this can include increased blood pressure and heart rate, with the risk of heart attack and stroke. The side effects that you are experiencing are normal for this class of medications, you may also experience headache and dizziness. If it is getting worse, however, and not tapering off, you should speak to your doctor immediately abo...
