Hydralazine Side Effects

My PCP prescribed Hydralazine to treat my BP after taking amlodipine, metoprolol, and carvidelol - not working for me. I was hoping that this hydralazine will work for me, 10mg bid 2 only.

Now in 15 days taking this med, I always have shortness of breath, feeling that my lungs are super congested. Barely breathe and all in the morning, my anxiety became so aggressive, feeling of constantly sad. But I was also being told that it is just a matter of time that my body will adjust or adapt this meds. But it's so hard waking up in the morning breathless, so when I stopped taking these meds, all bad symptoms are gone.

Please help, I'm worried what if my BP will spike. I'm back to my alternative meds, boiled lemon grass I drink morning at night and I think that helps my blood pressure a little bit. Are there any meds that can control HB that have less side effects?

You could ask your doctor about trying Labetalol, it is well known to be an excellent medication that causes few side effects in most people that take it.

That's why I'm on it, I was having issues with most other blood pressure medications, until an ER doctor finally suggested I try Labetalol, now I've been taking it for several years, with no issues, and my blood pressure is very well controlled.

It can cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination, but they are very rare.

I'm not a doctor, so I can't say whether or not you should take it, or if it's safe for you to try, but it doesn't hurt to ask them about it.

I only took Hydralazine (25mg twice a day) for a day and a half. Of course, it was the weekend, so my doctor wasn’t available.

I experienced severe dizziness, followed by chills, shaking, and a pounding heart. I couldn’t bring myself to take another dose. Today, I feel weak. My blood pressure is 161/79, and my pulse is 97.

I’m 85 years old—any advice would be greatly appreciated.
