Anyone Else Trying Savella For Fibromyalgia? (Page 12)
(Newest replies first)

This is a new medication that just came out for fibromyalgia. I have several other conditions involving spinal degeneration , herniated discs, arthritus, etc.
I've been taking this medication for a little over 2 weeks now and have worked up to the full dose. My biggest symptom seems to be upset stomach but I don't know if it's from the Savella or from de-toxing from 7 other medications that I've been on for over 10+ yrs.
Is there anyone else out there that has started this medication that can give me any information that they may have on it?

I just started taking Savella 2 days ago and I'm taking it with my the doses of pain meds. I have noticed less morning stiffness. I hope in a few months it helps me reduce my pain meds to the point where I won't need narcotics anymore.

The whole insurance thing is a little much...Is there any insurance that covers Savella? I have the $25.00 off card that takes it below the $100.00 for the next 2 refills. Anybody out there with a better deal?

Well..it's now been many days since I was off the trial pack..and I have been waiting for my insurance company for
two weeks to approve of the Savella. They sent me a letter saying that they want me to try neurontin first, and THEN they'll agree to Savella, even though they approved of Lyrica months ago...go figure.
So now, I haven't been taking it...yes, I have had left chest pain right under my clavicle area off and on for many years. It's one of the trigger points. I do find just taking motrin early in the morning seems to nip alot of the pain before it gets to bad throughout the day. I also take fish oi 2x a day

I am on my 6th day Savella, I have noticed the sweats and a few small side effects. My energy level is up and am looking forward to how this will help with my FM pain. Anyone in Iowa on Savella? How about the FM left chest pain that lasts at least a year??? I am going through it now...anyone else?

I just started Savella 12.5mg today; I was really nervous about it, because I have been on lamictal and also pristiq for the pain and I had bad s/e from both. I was pleasantly surprised today; felt good, and my doc says I can stay on 12.5mg if it works for me..hope it stays that way...I did have a little nausea in the am..(.he said to eat breakfast, then take it.)..but 1/2 of nausea is nothing compared to a day of hellish pain!

I`ve been on 50mg of Savella 2x day for almost 2 weeks now. I have had a runny nose and sneezing almost like a cold or allergy. Not sure if this is related to taking Savella or not. Has anyone else had this probelm since being on this medication?

Been on Savella for 10 weeks now. Went through some mild side effects (excessive sweating, increased heart rate), but am feeling better overall. Also taking Lexapro (history of depression) which has helped. Unable to do complete workout at the gym as cardio exceeds recommended levels, but am working through this problem (had to lower my expectations). Although Savella has not been a magic solution, it has eased much of the pain that occurs on a daily basis. It does not help on days where I have major flare ups. After 30 years of this, I'll take as many good days as possible.

well i started savella yesterday after being taken off of cymbalta. no weight gain or loss on cymbalta but my pain was increasing instead of reducing. today after my dose of 12.5 mg of savella i have alot of blurred vision while working in front of the computer but no other side effects besides nausea. the withdrawl from cymbalta though was the worst. i had continous nightmares and dream all night unable to sleep well. i'm so glad im off it and hope the savella helps much more with fm pain relief.

After an injury, I developed RSD, thoracic outlet syndrome, torn rotator cuff that couldn't be repaired due to the RSD, frozen shoulder, bulging discs and impingement syndrome. I can't begin to remember all the drugs tried on me. Looks like we might have found the magic pill (don't want to say it too loud). Started the Savella about a month ago. I'm taking it along with topamax, cymbalta and zanaflex (muscle relaxer). I have the headache and pretty much no appetite along with the hot flashes but have gotten back energy and 'my glow' according to friends. It's been almost 10 years. I have also found that I can decrease the nerve pain with my diet to a degree. If I eat things high in the vitamin B catagories (all of them) it tends to calm the nerves down. That includes beans, lentils, pineapple, peas, etc. You can find a list on the internet. Just remember not to overdo it and drink plenty of water. My dietician friend helped me work on the diet and then when I didn't feel like eating it became just eat what tastes good (found my body was craving the B's) and make sure you are getting protein. If you aren't getting enough protein that makes you ache worse too...at least it does me. So, you can always mix a smoothie with protein powder and some good fresh fruits. Just an idea for anyone looking.

Just started a week ago on Savella and have already noticed a postive difference. Cymbalta was horrible for me, my rheum.didn't really trust the Lyrica because of my extreme reaction to Cymbalta. Effexor did nothing. Ambien, as well, did nothing for the sleep deprivation. Pain pills may as well have been sugar pills. I tried the natural way, including supplements and a gluten free diet--that, as always, is my first choice. And I still follow a pretty rigid diet. But, at least for me, it wasn't enough. I do have regular complete blood work-ups-- at least twice a year, but there have been no deficiencies found. Finally, after a year of excruciating and completely debilitating pain, and many, many dead ends in treatments, my neurologist prescribed that old standby, amitriptyline. This helped some, so the rheum. started me also on Savella. I also had the nerves burned off in my lower back to help with the ruptured discs (I also have degenerative disc disease). After years of misery, this combination seems to be working so far for most of the most debilitating symptoms, including cognition and fatigue. Even if it only works for awhile, for me, Savella has shown promise in my case..

I am on Day 8 of Savella triation. Immediately upon starting at the low dose (12.5 mg) I had crawling sensation on my head and goose bumps all over. These symptoms freaked me out but doc said to continue. I also feel nauseas and sleepy with each dose for about an hour. So far I haven't noticed any benefits that out weigh the cons. Anyone else have this experience? How long does it take to receive the benefits. Fibro for 27 years.

I'm on the 4th week of the tritration pack of Savella. Previously I was on Cymbalta. I am experiencing more get-up-and-go, but unfortunetly quite a bit more pain than when I was on Cymbalta. I am going to give this drug 90 days to fully weight out which one is better for me. Right now I'm screaming to get my Cymbalta back but like I said, I'm going to try and remain patient and let the Savella do it's thing. I feel 90 days is a fair amount of time to evaluate this drug.

I have been taking Savella for my fibromyalgia for about 3 months now and it really has helped with the pain and tenderness I experience with the fibromyalgia I also have neuropathy in both of my feet which it somewhat helps with.I take lexapro with it and have not had any side effect from it so far knock on wood..I still have pain and tenderness with the fibromyalgia but the savella helps more than taking nothing at all for it..I have been on 10 different medications for the neuropathy in my feet and have not found one yet to help with that unfortunately.I tried lyrica and cymbalta both of my feet and the lyrica unfortunately I had the side effect of swelling with it and the cymbalta didn't do anything for either condition.

I am just starting the Titration Pack of Savella. I am also on Wellbutrin XL 150mg and have been for 15 plus years. I keep reading that there is an interaction between the two, something about seizure risks?? Does anyone else take Savella and a antidepressant?

I began taking savella 12 days ago. Im 18 and was diagnosed with fibro at 17 have tried cympalta and lyrica with horrible side effects from each. When I first began savella I had horrible concentration and moodiness. both has subsided for the most part but im still experiencing nausea, hands and feet swelling, weight gain very quickly at least 5 pounds already, and hot flashes. I am now up to 50mg twice a day and seems too make a difference but im sure it could be better but im worried about the side effects and how i will handle them since i am in college. so far its been a very very difficult time

I have had fibromyalgia since I was about 18 years old, so over 20 years. I have degenerative disc disease as well with 4 herniated disks and some stenosis. Those of us who have FMS know that even just a little stenosis or a few herniated (but healing) disks can make your muscles ache and spasm terribly. I was horribly depressed with this disease.

I started Savella and I am on day five currently. To me, this drug is better than Lyrica or Cymbalta. Lyrica didn't work and I gained a ton of weight. Cymbalta didn't work and made me terribly sleepy.
So far it has been working well, with just a little dizziness and lack of appetite. My tummy has also been just a bit upset. So far I have had about a 75% reduction in pain, usually in my middle back area. I am definitely sweating up a storm, and had insomnia last night for most of the night. The first few days I took it, I cried over some corny Taylor Swift music video, lol. I still feel pretty energetic today. I hope it continues to work, and that I can eventually get some sleep though!

Good luck to everyone here. :) I hope they find a cure for us!
