I had bunion surgery 7 wks ago. my foot is still swolen and in a lot of pain. I took my 1st 15 mg Meloxicam last evening and was wondering how long it takes to take effect. Also it seems that most people have been prescribed Meloxicam for muscle pain and arthritis do you think it's appropriate for me since mine is an acute injury? I'm a bit fearful of taking this med due to it's possible side effects. ## Hello, Renee! How are you? The FDA classifies Meloxicam as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that is used to treat pain, fever and swelling, so yes, it can also be used for problems such as yours. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. It should have some pain relief properties shortly afte...

Does anyone know any known dangerous pharmacological or toxic negative interactions of combining 50 mg of each? Nortriptyline 50 mg AM + amitriptyline 50 PM. Any more amitriptyline than that and I struggle to wake up, but 50 or 75 mg lacks the antidepressant properties of 100 or 150 mg. Tried only 100, then 150 of nortriptyline, but perhaps the SRI mechanism is the reason for the difference. And one's a metabolite of the other. Any thoughts?

My pain mgt. doctor has decided that he wants to take me off Oxycodone 40mg per day and put me on Belbuca. I don't want to do this, but he is leaving me with no choice. What should I expect? ## How is he doing the transition? In order to start the Belbuca, you'll need to be off the Oxycodone for several days, otherwise it could throw you into precipitated withdrawals. Belbuca contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine, so the FDA warns that it also carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Ref: Belbuca Information Many doctors are switching their patients as a precaution to help prevent them developing opiate abuse. ## How many days should I be off? Withdrawals do not sound like fun. somewhere close to columbus indiana husband has been taking for 8 years and family doc wont presribe cuz of new dea rules ## There are no new DEA rules governing Methadone. Go to their website and look it up. ## BL is correct, the rules are the same. If he was taking it for addiction/maintenance treatment, then regular doctors have never been able to prescribe it for that. That can only be done in a clinical setting by those specially trained in its use for such. And for pain, the new regulations concern all narcotics, not just Methadone. There have been severe restrictions placed on general practitioners and surgeons regarding what they can and cannot prescribe, so if someone needs such a medication for the long-term treatment of chronic pain, they will have to see a pain management sp...

Doctor who perscribes methadone in indianapolis, indiana for pain ## Drs that treat chronic pain ## Hello, Laura! How are you? I'm sorry, but there is no directory of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. What you need to do is set up an appointment with a pain management specialist and go from there. Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that location? Melissa, what is your general location? That would make it easier for someone to suggest doctors, if they know of any. ## There’s a walk in clinic I heard of in greenwood. Any names of doctors who will prescribe vicodin for degenerative disks in IN? ## Hello, Alex! How are you? There is no database of doctors that will prescribe any given medication. If you require such a medication on a long-term basis for chronic pain, you will most likely need to see a pain management specialist. Do you have a PCP that you see regularly? If so, then it would most likely be easiest to have them refer to you someone. Learn more Vicodin details here. ## I'm not sure where you are, but if you were in the UK you would definitely need a prescription. If you want to be treated or even just een quickly your best bet is to consult a private doctor. I’m having trouble getting a doctor who will prescribe my Belbuca. My current primary care gives it but am having to switch doctors as mine's retiring. Unfortunately the one I'm switching to isn’t allowed to give it due to licensing issues. Any ideas? ## I’m in Indiana, I live in scott count but found out my dr doesn’t prescribe pain meds and that’s why he has me searching for someone that does. Any information would be greatly appreciated

Recently (6 weeks) had a pancreas scare with a CT scan (later unfounded) and my doctor took me off Mounjaro. I have since developed intermittent diarrhea. I will start my day with a normal poop. Then I may have one or 2 more loose stools or some diarrhea. I have no other symptoms except increased gas. This appears more after dairy. No gastric distress, bloating or pain, no fever. Any thoughts?

My annual infusion is due this month. I need shoulder surgery. How long do I need to wait after the infusion to have it done? I am scheduled to have two dental implants at the end of June. May I presume that is far enough into the future? I am in my mid-70s and have had two infusions in 2015 and 2016. ## Had reclast infusion July 11, 2023 . Now need surgery for trigger finger. How long should I wait to schedule surgery. ## First, I'm 70 years old. After I had my 1st infusion 2 years ago, I was told by my dentist that after a year of the infusion, if I have enough bone, he can do implants. all of my back teeth, uppers and lowers, had root canals and crowns and they were all slowly breaking off. so I went for dentures, with the belief that I could get some implants that the dentures w...

I am wondering if anyone out there has these symptoms. It seems like in about the third month 7.5 of mounjaro I started feeling vague indigestion that kind of comes and goes across my upper back. I also am constipated and am now on the 10 mg. I have lost 12 pounds and my sugars non fasting were only 105 without any other meds than the mounjaro itself, so over all I am thrilled with what it's doing for me. But I would like to know if anyone else has these particular symptoms with the drug. ## I too have had some constipation issues with mounjaro that I’ve never had before. Dr. Told me to increase water intake and try for 60fl oz/day. I haven’t been successful with that recommendation yet. Also have some mid, lower abdominal pain that comes and goes. Not sure if that...

I took a variety of different atypical antipsychotic medications for 2 years (including Invega Sustenna and Olanzapine). I stopped 2 months ago because of the horrendous side effects. I now have chronic fatigue for the rest of my life, accompanied by insomnia and cognitive difficulties. Thank god I stopped when I did because I was starting to get involuntary spasms in my jaw which is called Tardive Dyskinesia. I was hospitalized 2 years ago because of a psychosis and was placed on extended leave of the hospital. I was then diagnosed with schizophrenia. They forced me to be injected monthly with their poison. I was honestly oblivious of the side effects that antipsychotic medications cause, the psychiatrist didn't even inform me or warn me of the catastrophic side effects before pres...

What is the maximum dose of suboxone or subutex when you have severe pain? ## What is the maximum daily dose of subutex? I'm taking it to wean off of opiate pain killers but may need to stay on it for chronic pain. My doctor has me taking 2mg up to 6 times a day, but it feels like too much and I feel sick at 6 mg. I can't imagine taking more. Any answers would be helpful... thanks. ## If u have true clinical pain suboxone will not work it is for opiate detox only. It is an opiate blocker which will in turn allow your brain to make its own dopamine. ## feelinbettergoinbroke is wrong, suboxone is used for the treatment of chronic pain. Although, I think the reason you are getting sick is because your doctor has you taking 2mg up to 6 times a day. That in itself is causing you to b...

They have me on buprenorphine for chronic pain ## Hello, Mike! How are you? Have you tried it, yet? I have been taking epclusa for two weeks. Last night my husband noticed brownish splotches on the mid-section of my back. The skin is not raised nor does it have any similarities to a rash. It looks more like large bruises. I'm not sure if this is from the meds or because I had a heating pad on my back the other evening. Has anyone else had this experience? ## Not all rashes are raised and/or itchy. Some of them are just surface spots like that, and this medication has been known to cause them in some people that take it. However, on your medical provider can say for sure. Have you experienced any other side effects? The FDA lists them as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fatigue, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. Are the spots still there? I was taking 10MG of Lisinopril one time per day. I ended up with a cough. My doctor changed it to 25 MG of Losartan and now my blood pressure has gone back up. Are my new dozes equal to or less than my previous dosage. I do not understand the conversion of MG from drug to drug. ## Hello, Mike! How are you? How long ago did you make the switch? There may be a slight rebound effect from stopping the Lisinopril and starting the new one waiting for it to reach its full level of efficacy. Or it could be that the Losartan doesn't work for you and you may need to switch to something else. I read in a medical newsletter that fermented wheat germ sold under the name of Avemar , also avaialble from amazon, is able to reduce all types of tumors, at least in the laboratory as described in 34 different publications of which I read the summaries.
