Yutopar Aka Ritodrine Experiences (Page 4) (Top voted first)
UpdatedMy husband and I have had our daughter, which is now 30, tested for everything and the doctors can't seem to be able to give us a diagnosis, and things are not getting any better. My beautiful daughter has struggled and suffered so much and it breaks my heart to know that the Yutopar that was given to me, affected my baby. My daughter is the one who suffers from it on a daily basis. My second child is normal, and I did not take the drug while carrying him. I would really like to talk to all of you, something needs to be done to care for these kids that are now adults that can not cope. They sleep, eat, are extremely depressed, suicidal thoughts, learning problems, unable to conform to society, lies, bi-polar, anti-social, can't function in everyday life and with everyday problems. We need help. If anyone out there could possible contact me {edited for privacy}.
My sister died from this horrible drug but her baby survived and is now 21. However, he does have eating problems amongst other emotional issues so I would be interested if you do find anyone to take on the case.
Here is a link to the news article about my sister from 1993 -

Wow that is horrible and I can't believe she was ignored. This drug was horrible and now we have children as well experiencing the side effects.
My son is 21 and I took this drug during my pregnancy with him. I have 2 other sons older and younger that don't have the emotional issues that he has. He always seemed withdrawn as a baby and child. He has been diagnosed as Bi-polar, has had suicidal idealations, learning issues etc. Has anyone been able to get any answers about this to see if it is the cause!
Hi there, I am so sorry to hear about your child but your posting shed some light on my daughters issues. My daughter is 25 now and has the same symptoms as your daughter..she has attempted suicide 3 times in 3 years.. and also has 3 children in the same timeframe.. we just couldn't understand why she has these problems until now. the question is what can we do about it?
I'm a female child of a mother who took yutopar, I'm 26 have experienced depression 13-14, anxiety, not really a people person. Been pregnant 3 times, my first was a stillborn my middle is disabled and also a little person(doesn't run in the family ) and developmental delayed. And my youngest stopped growing at 25 weeks and lived for a month. I've had all kinds of women problems and I've always wondered if I wasn't having some sort of issue with my mom being a des baby and the yutopar
I have a 26 year-old child who was exposed to Ritodrine for 17 weeks in utero. He is extremely bright, but has serious problems with social skills, has little or no compassion for others, (his words) and seems to have no attachment to family. In fact, we haven't seen him in years, he refuses to contact us. We have other children who were not exposed and they are normal. I would be interested if there is any research done on this or if there is a legal action. This is heartbreaking.
My son is 27 on Thursday, and I was given Yudopar when I was 6 month pregnant with him. When my son an infant we couldn't let him cry because he would lose his breath and we would have to blow in his face to get him breathing again. He has shown more symptoms over the years. He has suicidal thoughts, lies, anti-social, depressed, can't sleep, he doesn't eat. I always wondered about side effects with this drug, but I put my trust in the doctors. I have 2 other children and they are fine, and I didn't take this drug with them. I'm trying to learn more about this drug.
I was given ritodrine in iv form for about a week when I was 32 weeks pregnant with my son in 1982. My son has had a zillion emotional problems including depression, add, adhd, etc. He takes meds for depression. I began taking him to counselors at around age 10 or 11. He has a hard time coping with lots of things in life. Socially he barely can make friends. He is 31 now and still has lots of problems.
Anybody have a case suit going on yet?
I also took you yutopar at 7 months into my pregnancy. absolutely with no doubt I know the drug I took did this to him. he is bipolar high anxiety, self medicates has some obsessive issues, anger. As a teenager he gave black eyes several times. Didn't want to go to school but finally graduated.. He was smart and on honor roll has a but was diagnosed with by polar he has a high tolerance to pain. Living with him is a night mare. He is almost finished with his associates 4 more classes and has been accepted to a university. He has been in trouble with the law has a felony. But he plans on getting his bachelors and maybe masters. We collectively have not taken any college loans out just in case he may never get a job. It was this drug because our son is perfectly normal and I did not take this drug with him. He has the depression and the highs lows anger high tolerance to pain and a number of issues. Some doctors said he has something but they can't put a name on it. I say its yutapar.
hi Pat,
I was reading your post and was wondering if you had gotten in touch with a lawyer or someone who could help us. I too have a daughter who suffers from mental and physical issues due to this drug. I would appreciate if you could get in touch with me so we can discuss this. Thank you.
I have girl...I've talked to several lawyers and they all tell me the same thing...the child lived and that s what the medication was used for...yeah and the quality of life? Which in my opinion these adult kids struggle on a day by day basis...take all kinds of medications...see. all kinds of different doctors...have all kinds of mental issues..and no one is willing to help us...
Yes I understand your fears, frustration, and pain...I have watched my daughter experience many things all of which are bad and wrong...she has to take many meds and self medicate herself...she to take suboxone...I wish I had answers... But I to am at a loss...the only real thing I believe is this drug is bad news...they stopped using it in the US but are stilling using it in other countries...I wish I could tell you more...but we live in hell everyday watching our kids struggle.
My daughter who is 22 also is on suboxen for a year and a half now. She's on anxiety and anti depressants also. Dropped out of college and sleeps all day. I wish I knew what to do with her. If I only knew about this medication, I never would of taken it
please keep us updated!. Thanks so much.
I too was given yutopar when I went into preterm labor, my daughter now thirty has suffered numerous problems. She has been diagnosed with bi polar disorder ADHD and depression. I know that drug was responsible for our life of hospitals and rehabs. Please let me know if any information or help is available. We just want to know if there is anything we can do or any help that is available to us. This was in 1983. Every time it seems another diagnosis is added to an already long list of problems.
I am 25 years old now I have been diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia. My mother took yutapar 6 weeks before I was born and I was still born 2 weeks early. I will say that I do lie allot. Not pathological because I don't believe my own lies. I'm an insomniac but not sure sure due to yutapar unless it causes severe night terrors. They told her it could cause migraines and bladder problems in herself. She suffers from severe migraines but I had bladder problems until I was 8. I'm social awkward but yet have little strive too be accepted. Reading all these posts are horrifying but give me a sense of relief that I'm not alone. I'm sorry for everyone that's been affected by this.
I never really understood why my daughter was so different and had so many problems that doctors could not understand or give me any answers. Baby you are not alone, this drug was given to so many mothers that as myself had no idea what was going to happen to our babies. I am able to help her more now that I'm aware of the reason behind the problems hang in there and if you have any questions I'm here....thanks so much for writing and bless you.
I was on Yutopar several times during a pregnancy in 1981 and one in 1985. Both of my children have heart and mental issues. If there is a legal suit i want in. I was not told that it was an experimental drug at the time. I felt like if the sides affects were so hard on me surly my babies may suffer. At that time though all you can think about is getting them to full term and, 'surely the doctor knows what he's doing'. If anyone has information please reply.
Horrible drug. I've read over articles, and responded to people in the last two years! I've contacted several law offices and and seems to go on deaf ears. There are currently emails that I have not answered yet! Please feel free to respond. {edited for privacy}
I too was given Yutopar to stop pre-term labor. The drug made me so sick. My heart would race, I would shake uncontrollably and feel out of control. This was in 1982. My son, who is now 31, experienced trimmers for the first 6 months of his life. And all of his life has experienced anger issues, drug and alcohol addictions, social disfunction and so much more. Manipulation and control issues as well.
I would love the name of that NY attorney.
