Withdrawals From Soma, Morphine, Xanax, Oxycodone - Help Please (Page 8)

Updated

I have been in pain management for years, lost my doctor along with other patients, and primary won't fill or says she can't and messes up my progress to get in new pain management in time. Now I'm losing Soma, was 3 times a day, now I have 7 tabs left. Was on 45 mg of morphine 3 times, oxycodone 15s and xanax 5 mg 3 times a day. Which she said she can not write for. Why, if she knew or thought this pain clinic was prescribing more than standard, did she never say a word until i had to go to her in desperation for this? Your primary that has to refer you and get info to get into a new pain clinic, I have very serious health issues no one is dealing with, I feel alone and suicidal. I even told my doctor and the old pain clinic staff that left, and not a bit of help, yet they know i have a history of heart failure, bleeds in brain from pain issues. No one cares, our country is falling apart and i asked again today for something for bp and high pulse, got nothing for it but a nurse, they did not send in the info two times that could have had me in pain management by now, and in having the colostomy i had to postpone since I wont do it with out pain mgmt on board.

Today they cut me back more 1 soma for a few days then no more, oxycodone 10mg 3 times to be cut on mon again and morphine cut from 45 3 x to 3o 2 times. All i can do is cry and sleep then cry more then no food, not drinking, feel horrible, and have lost desire to live and fight. These doctors put all on others and not one seems to care or no what to do with all of us real pain patients. I just want to die at this point for i am so tired of suffering and its only going to get worse. I feel so bad for all of the posts i have seen and know im not alone. All i see is the same four walls every day, go no where and before i felt i had some reason to fight and live to fight cancer and even cancer doc can not help get you in pain mang. They said today it will take at least 8 weeks to get in and ill be dead then or out of meds in a stroke etc. That is my biggest fear. Have had 3 bleeds in brain from this and pain is no joke.

The nurse said today we all are paying for those that dr shop and are addicted and i said i thought even addiction is a matter that needs treatment. They counted my tabs. I take drugs panels, did nothing wrong and most of my pain is caused from docs that did botched surgeries and cancer and injury from accident. I dont no what we all can do or if there is hope but it does not do good to ask on this site if someone knows where to get meds. Its not just docs its insurances companies and pharmacies. It's all getting way too much and hard for even a well person to figure out. I am ready to go home to my maker and wish he would take me soon. I am so tired of the lack of proper dr care in our country and its so sad i feel and pray for you all i want to know who is going to be responsible when i die or end up in a stroke due to this. Xanax withdrawals will be the worst too for i had them before for you can not sleep to escape the torture and they only get worse with time unlike opiates most docs dont seem to know this. I guess i have heart rate of 139 now and bp 200 over 133.

JAY4REAL: Valium and Alprazolam aren't narcotics. And I know what you are saying about veterinarians, but dogs aren't trying to fool doctors into giving them meds.

MARYELLEN: That is good advice. Withdrawal is most definitely a medical situation, so if you need to go to the hospital, do not hesitate.

I am opiate dependent per doctor orders! But now, the government is telling all doctors to stop prescribing. So that leaves us Chronic Pain patients left holding the bag! I understand what you are going through. My GP retired and the doctor that he pushed on to doesn't like me one bit! He refuses to refill my scripts that I really need. I am in pain 24/7 and they just don't care. What happened to "do no harm"? I, like you sometimes, just want it to stop so suicide does creep into my thoughts. Try to stay strong.

wtarin1, each individual dr prescribes the way they decide is best for their patient, Just because your previous dr prescribed you certain meds does not mean that another dr will. If you go into a new dr expecting them to prescribe the same meds and you ask for the same thing, you will be labeled a drug seeker.

I had even a worse effect. I was having horrible muscle spasm so I took one pill and 1 glass of wine then took another 2 hours later. I had never been on them before. My Mom tried to call me and when she could not get a hold of me she came over because she felt something was wrong. She found me having a seizure and was on a ventilator for 2 days. That was the last time I took Soma and the last I drank alcohol when on ANY meds. But just because I had that effect does not mean no one should be able to get it. It just needs to monitored because as you found out it can be easily abused.

Prescription medication are not running rampart in the streets. Today it is very hard to get prescription because of drug panels and state prescription monitoring programs. If prescription pills were easy and cheap we would not be seeing the huge increase of OD and deaths due to illicit drugs. In 85% of those who abuse prescription drugs never ever got them from a doctor but by a friend, party and so on. There are 10 times more people who die from smoking and 3 times more who die from alcohol related illness. When the addict does not get there drug of choice they move to something else. In this case illicit drugs. To make the issue worse the prescription pill that are in the street have been coming in from South America and China. Some of these pills are filled with Fentanyl which is much stronger then what the pills are suppose to be. Dumping the alcohol from a alcoholic never got them sober neither will severely limiting opiates. In fact the only thing that they have done is help addict get pushed to more deadly drugs and the chronic pain patient suffer. I understand there is a problem but unless this country is really willing to put money on education and rehab for those addicted the only people who will be hurt are those law abiding citizens who have done nothing wrong but suffer from chronic pain. Also those who become addicted to opiates are very susceptible to abusing other substances. It is not about the drug but the disease.

BL - I TOTALLY agree with you. No two doctors are the same but my health issues haven't changed. I am not a drug seeker and understand with that statement being made. I'm seeking just the OPPSITE. I'm going to a pain clinic and then keeping our fingers crossed that this works. Otherwise the pain clinic will then make their own decision as to what I will need to keep me out of pain. At that point then my GP have to go by their recommendations. The message that I was just trying to make is that there are "Chronic Pain Patients being "tortured" by our own government.

Hi Pat,
I sincerely sympathize with the agony you are experiencing. But please see a doctor immediately to get your blood pressure and heart rate under control. Uncontrolled high blood pressure is the single greatest cause of strokes and heart attacks. According to what you've written, you are in a hypertensive crises! Go to an emergency room if you can't get to a doctor. Your numbers must be brought down immediately. We care about you!

Swim feel everyone's pain as swim has been down this road a few times over 3 decades of surgeries, but WE ALL have to have some accountability on this issue as well!

Swim loves to feel good too, but many are not taking the meds as prescribed or take them too long without questioning the doctor.

Personal experience has led me to believe it's better to ask your doctor to taper you down before it's too late. Good luck all!!

As others have mentioned, Medicinal cannabis has helped swim quite a bit in the pain management department and was a huge benefit when swim was tapering off high doses of oxycontin & percocett.

Dear Grandma Pat: I know what I am about to say will not help you much but I also am living with stage III metastatic cancer. I fought just like you, to live. I had surgery and treatments which caused more pain. For 3 years I had the blessing of a wonderful primary care physician who prescribed what I needed to be able to continue working and caring for 3 family members. When he died I tapered myself off of Fentanyl 100mcg patches, Valium 10mg, Dilantin 100mg for seizures and Robaxin 750. I am able to survive using various herbs you can buy at a health food store. I hope you have a very good friend or advocate who can check this info out and help you. I would supply the names of the supplements but I don't want people thinking I am practicing medicine and I do NOT want to give you advice that would hurt you. Pat you are in my prayers every day and I will pledge to pray for a miracle for you each morning. There are people who love you and care for you out here in CYBERLAND.... Please do not give up.

I know what you feel. I have had everything in the book happen to me and my Dr of 15 years retired. I'm on some of same meds. It took me 1 year to find dr to help me and my medical reports. Just keep the chin up and pray like I did and when you get the right dr give documentation to back you up and what I did was kinda set my foot down and tell her "I don't want to die in agony"! She understood after she read those medical reports. Good luck to anyone who suffers in pain and anxiety as I do every day of my life.

Valium and Xanax are most definitely a schedule 4 narcotic here in Texas. I promise you. And I was never implying in any way that a dog would try to fool a doctor into giving them meds. I was just making a comment about how animals take some of the same drugs that humans do for the same reasons. The only reason I mentioned it is because I work for a company that supplies veterinarians with meds. I have also been prescribed either valium or Xanax for many years do to ptsd I suffer from multiple combat deployments.

I AM a Chronic Pan patient. Was OVER prescribed and now am facing a life that I am just existing. I AM in pain 24/7 from a shoulder injury. I am not a drug addict, I am doctor dependent!! It's not fair to put all of us together. The drug company doesn't seem to be kicking back on this, so all us legit patients aren't getting our meds that we need to have a "normal" life. So we get to suffer everyday! And your are absolutely right about us CPP looking to the streets to get pain relief and the gov, doesn't seem to see it!!!

Not me. My retired Dr made plenty of medical notes for any new Dr to see that I was stable on them and did not abuse. I had 4 neck surgeries and lower lumbar spine surgeries. Also a hip replacement. I have high blood pressure, lupus, thyroid disease and GERD which is known as gastric intestinal reflux disease myalgias, radial nerve palsy and now need shoulders replacement, but am not strong enough and the Dr's concur that I would not survive another surgery. I just had gall bladder removed 4 months ago. After all this, 2 years ago I withdrawal from 1000 mg. of M's contain to 90 mg in 4 months. Yes it was difficult, but I survived because I have a strong will and during that opiate withdrawal, I went down 10% a month under my drs close watch. I could not believe to this day that I survived, but never abused once I four months. Today I have adjusted to what I take meds wise and do not abuse. A new Dr has all my medical records and is treating me with 90 mg of M's contain 3x1 a day, Soma, 3x350 mg a day and xanax, 1x3 a day, 1mg. mg xanax. She addresses my other illnesses also. I am al as o a type 2 diabetic, use lantus. I feel better now that I am at lower doses of narcotics and still am working on lowering my M's contin to 60 mg a little bit slower, but my new Dr understands the fact that I am not a drug seeker, I just want to live in peace! I don't abuse. Please, everyone out there that has been through death and life, please don't ever give up. When I get up every am, it's another day, let a good Dr help you! I am not bragging, I am just living! All my wishes and hopes for everyone in this world! You can do it, please! I will pray!

Everyone should change from oxycodone to ms contin. Oxycodone is an opiate based pain killer. Ms contin is a synthetic morphine which is, per my Dr that retired of 15 years of medical practice, showed me that it is easier on liver and kidneys. I have taken ms contin for years and even when I was on too high of a dose at one time, it caused no liver and kidney damage. Norco is not good either. Too much tylenol and if you drink, bad on liver. The only reason I am saying this is because I have been on too many high doses for many years of ms contin and did a lot of checking on pain management!
