My Doc Will Not Refill My Xanax Im Feeling Sick (Page 11)

Updated

I was prescribed Prozac & Xanax 10 years ago by my psychiatrist for depression & severe panic attacks. He started me on 1mg 3 times a day. Around Dec 2005 he increased my daily dose to 1 mg - 4 times a day. I have been a patient of his now for 10 years where I see him every 3 months. Through the years, there has been a few times were I had to call to reschedule my appointment and a couple of times he had to do the same. He would call in my meds for the amount I would need to get me through to my next appointment. This month I had an appointment for May 27th I called to reschedule due to transportation. I do not drive now and my ride canceled on me. so, I rescheduled my app. for June 17th I then requested my meds be called in until my appointment, a 3 week supply. She said she would call me back when it was called in later that day. Not hearing anything I called back the next day to find out what was going on. I was told my doctor feels uncomfortable due to liability reasons to re-fill my medication, until I see him again in June. I asked her what about the liability to take me off medication I have been taking for 10 years? She told me to go to my primary physician to get my meds. I told her my primary care doctor will not prescribe me those medications without my medical records from this office and I just signed a medical release form a few days ago at my first appointment with this new primary doctor, so she told me to go to an urgent care if my symptoms became to uncomfortable for me to deal with!! I had enough xanax to last me until today. I took my last xanax this morning and I am already starting to feel sick, my head feels cloudy, I feel like I'm getting the flu. My heart is racing, I'm feel really anxious & closed in. Has anyone out there gone off xanax cold turkey what more should I expect? I don't understand how a doctor can prescribe medication like this for 10 years and just make you stop so suddenly it doesn't seem fair. I have lost trust in my doctor now and I don't think I can continue to be his patient anymore. I am scared and I don't know who to turn too.

Here's why. He is not in the office. And has not been in for 6 months . I was told by a prosecuting attorney he was a criminal. This person said he was giving out too many hydrocodone pills. And was charged as a criminal. Made me so mad I could have slapped them. My psychiatrist is a wonderful Dr. I have been seeing him for 10 years! I flat told them. No he is not a criminal. If there were any problems with him, It was he had too kind of a heart. And he really cared too much about his patient's. His reward was to be brought up on charges?? I wish I had known. I would have told him to take the patient's that were screaming at him to get the hell out of my office. He wouldn't have done that anyway!! I now that he was so harassed by legal problems that they made him sick! Real sick. I am worried for his health now!! Because I care about him. The new psychiatrist I am seeing is awful. I have been told by him they are not going to give out no more xanax period! They are trying to change me to clonazepam. It is just another addictive drug in the same family !! At this point I do not know what to do??? They were trying to change it in one week. Steve Tyler said he had to go to rehab 5 times to get off of xanax. So when did DR's decide they were God? I am going through some very hard time in my personal life. And this is just not a good time for this to happen. I guess I will reach out to God and ask him to help me. If I die from convulsions so be it. I am tired of all the torments that come with it. If you need some christian help listen to "Jeremy Camp's song -There will be a Day" on youtube. It is very uplifting. It helps me. Not much else I can say. Or listen to Jon Micah Sumrall's "Psalm 56". Both can help you with your pain. Thank-You!!!!

Many opinions here, and mine is pretty much the same as others. Xanax seems to be your friend, until you want to get off it or run out of it. Then withdrawal hell, and that hell really starts because no doctor explains to you what you may experience or what to expect or how to slowly get off or taper. Yes, it is not fun...having dealt with withdrawals. It is the strong will within me that kept me going, I wanted more desperately off the medication than stay on it. Many days I wanted to run back and refill or take a half a pill. Listen, please do work with your doctor and go to a support group in your community (check with local hospitals for info.) or join a support group online. If you have insurance request rehab, depending on how bad you feel. Everyone is different so the experience may be worse or milder depending on how much or how long you took it. It was nice to know what I was going through was not unique to just me. Many others feel similar things. To the original poster I hope her appt got moved up, due to someone cancelling their appt.

I can say from experience that coming off xanex is life threatening whether you have been on it a month or 10 years. My husband use to be on xanex for his severe and uncontrollable anxiety. I do know that doctors have to be very careful because they can lose their medical license over writing these meds especially without seeing you. My husband suffered seizures and a heart attack from doing without his medicine for 2 days, so it's very plausible that you was already experiencing withdraw with onset of panic. My husband couldn't live like that so he weened himself slowly off of xanex under a doctor care and changed to clonzepam, he was taking 4 bar xanex a day and now he only takes 1 one mg clonapan three times a day and he is much healthier and happier, he also remembers much more! His life was more important than being bound by such a strong and deadly medicine. I understand that there are those who need xanex but I hope you could find something safer, my husband had been on xanex for 12 years when he weened himself off. I would just tell you to keep your appointment and stay open to other options but never stop this medicine immediately.

I am doing much better! Thank-God. I am taking the clononazePAM is what I am taking. I do still take two xanax at night because the new Dr didn't give me anything so I can sleep.. He gave me MIRTAZAPINE. It makes me puking sick. I tried it at night for over 2 weeks and I was deathly sick every day I took it. So If I can get him to prescribe something so I can sleep I think I can get off of the xanax period. But the ClonoazePAM is still a Benzo. I would like to get off of them for good. But with panic attack I don't know if I can? I see the new Dr the first of December and if he can do like my sons Dr and give me either 6 pills a week with one day off or even 5 sleeping pills a week I am going to try to get of the Benzo's completely. Do you know that the FDA recommends only 4 weeks for xanax? And 5 weeks for valium . Well I am just going to have to try and see what I can do because the ClonazePam does not work like xanax. It takes much longer to kick in. And it does not work as good. Still in a partial panic attack with it. It is not so bad I can't stand it. But it is nerve wracking. My Dr is supposed to come back after the first of the year. He has been gone 8 months when December rolls around. By them my medicines he used to give me will be gone. About the only thing I could get him to do is give me some sleeping pills. Good luck to all of you! Everyone please be careful getting off of these junk benzo's

In my opinion, if you lose or misplace your med one time, your Dr. Can not replace it due to restictions of this type1 or 2 narcotics. I have been taking prozac and xanax, seriquole, trazodone, etc...for8 years. I've never asked for more, even if I've taken too much or lost it (and it has happened). I will say this....I have had 3-4 seizures (one lasting 36 hrs) So...PLEASE, PLEASE! Go to the emergencyroom immediately! They left me in there for 3 days! I was very close to having a stroke. Do not play around. Because you don't even when this will tis could happen. This is very serious. Dr. Will not take the risk of having a patient die to lose their record. No No

The new Dr. I have gave me Clonzapam. I am now on it and my Other Dr will be coming back in February of next year. The new Dr. gave me a lot of crazy meds I don't like. Made me sick. But I can stay on the Clonzapam for panic attacks now I had severe panic attacks too. The clonzapam relaxes them enough I can live with it.. I just need other from my DR. who was gone now. Sleeping pills. And a muscle relaxant for stiff muscles at night. Really I am glad to be off xanax. It is a nasty drug. If there is anyway you can get off of it please do so.

I've heard quitting lyrica put you in extremely horrible withdrawals. I heard they also can last for months. That's also a drug you want to take responsible.

I have taken xanax for about 17yrs.now. The dose you are taking just taking one will make you feel the way you are. Be careful you can go into a seizure and or hallucinate! You need to wean yourself if you want to stop taking them. You can actually be detoxed for free because the withdrawals CAN kill you!

I am going to try and be nice! You need to get off of xanax! I took it for 10 years. It is a nasty drug. I am now on Clonzapam. It is not as strong as xanax depending on the prescription they give you. It is much better than xanax. It does't burn going down. It doesn't zonk you out. You can get off of xanax if I did it. I am not saying it is easy. But you can do it. Get your Dr. to prescribe you the clonzaopam. Enough and strong enough to get you through the withdrawal of the xanax. I guarantee you that you will feel a lot better on Clonzapam. Once you get used to it! It is good too to get some muscle relaxant. It helps too getting off the xanax. Good luck everyone! Try it. Be strong. You can do it!!

Xanax half life is 12 hours so there is no way you are sick after taking your last one a few hours ago. Wait till day two or three when you start having seizures and shaking uncontrollably and your body becomes numb, your rye sight starts to get blurry and you can't sleep for days because of tremors and hallucinations. I been on 3 - 2 mg zannie bars a day for six year's and my meds got stolen by my ex
..I felt the pain I know whAt happens.
It ain't good. But feeling sick after just a few hours...

I don't believe that is your problem. You're just worried..the pain comes after day two

VERWON, you make a good sounding argument and are able to to confound those who are emotionally compromised and suffering from their own self perpetuating anxiety, coupled with the beginnings of withdrawals from Benzos, that is, IF you correctly ASSUMED that your estimated time since he actually dosed, til the time we are reading about it. AND if he explained it correctly in writing, then you have to admit it is a thin line between the Dr just covering his legal backside despite the hypocratic oath and putting the true welfare of the patient first.
I thought the patient came first? And as for the whole "Drug Seeker" excuse, heaven forbid that a patient exhibit anxiety and agitation over a hostile attitude from the Dr. they've trusted and been treated by FOR extreme anxiety for years, and all of the sudden the Dr. hides behind this Drug Seeker argument. . . Come on! How clear does the Doctor's actions AND true motives have to be?? How wide spread does this story have to be?? I personally know more than a few people who have a very similar story and I don't believe that that many people who have been prescribed Alprazalam, or Xanax are ALL drug addicts. And if they are addicts, then it is the responsibility of the prescribing physician, because they knew what they were prescribing in the beginning and they still got paid and now they want to be paid for nothing, and the patient does not know what they need.
It's all a racket to make millions and control tens of millions through their illnesses and the treatment, or better said, Non Treatment of your ailments. Everyone has to have medical coverage and a lot have a medicare based plan.

First of all you should have never mentioned liability to your 1st doc, second you go to a psychologist to get benzodiazepines for real reasons which I'm sure you got real problems for ten years. There is a handful of Benzos out there that will stop your panic attacks, xanax only last for 6 hours, clonazepam which is 12 hours. xanax is not a must, you got ativan, librium, restoril, dalmain, valuim, clonazepam, xanax and I'm sure of few more, you can go to any doc as long as your record is good. If not I suggest you get off of them because they can lead to alot of problems if you can't get them no more and someone that's been taking them for ten years, you should know better than to not get there and call, there thinking your shafting them on money if you have been going awhile, by calling in and saying to call in 3 weeks, why not a week till you can get there, something don't sound write if the family doc won't give them to you with a ten year history, and Prozac can lead to being very confused when you stop taking them, not knowing what's going on around you also. So proceed with caution, and don't ever mention liability in the future, no doctor will mess with ya and by law they have to give you your records maybe make you pay but they have to. Go to the next one who wants to help people, there out there bro trust me and not crocket at all, once you stop taking you are going to see things, sweat, not all there, heart beating fast, panicking and possible seizes, so get help asap, but don't tell no one you are a threat to yourself or no one else and don't act like a druggy. if you need to go to urgent care and can't stress enough don't lie because they already know what you have been taking, good luck.

The same thing is happening to me. I have a few Xanax left & feeling very anxious and panic attacks getting worse. I moved out from California about a year ago out here in South Carolina, and the doctor I saw told me he rather get me off Xanax slowly and don't want to prescribe them to me. I can't afford emergency rooms any more much less a primary doctor, I live off $ 299 dollars a mont from SSDI. I don't know what to do anymore!!!! If someone knows any resources to help us please let us know. Thank you and I'm sorry u don't feel well, I can totally relate to you and the symptoms u are we are going thru. Feel better.

I did it cold turkey after a year of 6mgs a day and I had the shakes and it sucked for a week but that was it. Try kicking methadone. Your doctor is trying to HELP YOU by taking you off a toxic medication that just slows people down and keeps them hooked. Although most psych meds are in my opinion. I'm highly skilled with getting people off drugs and although i'm not a doctor i'm filled with know how on all matters on this subject. I have one year clean off of the junk I used to use by the way! There is hope, and it does get better, TRUST ME. {edited for privacy}

Does Clonzapam really last longer than xanax? I have been off of the xanax for 3 weeks now. I get real upset somtimes and wish I could just take 2 xanax. But I do not because I am off of them. How ever I do not think the clonzapam works like xanax! I don't know how it could be stronger? Because I take it and it doesn't calm me down like the xanax used to! It helps some. But there is still a feeling of panic. I just have to ride it out. Does this seem right? I am not going back to xanax because I feel much better with out it! Just wondering!

Have you ever been threw withdrawals? If you haven't you really cannot talk about them. I have. I have even put myself inside a withdrawal hospital, where they do not let u out!. I had a couple and actually thought that one was more serious
TO find out that in my blood they or it wasn't I me. Knowing I had just taken it in the morning. I also took Xanax, and a sleeping pill. Out of all these, the worse was the xanax. And trust me the one for the pain, as I had back surgery and came out actually worse than better. Was an extremely strong one!.
As soon as they gave me a pill, don't remember the name at the moment. I felt better BUT when they stopped this pill as well, I felt so horrible.

Now I remember the name of the pain medicine, it was NUBAIN. At the time I was given this I lived in a third world County. Where u could get whatever u wanted. No one never told me the real side effects. Again I say before you guys say anything, this medication wasn't found in me. In my blood system and I had just had it in the morning!
I later found out that the Xanax was the one doing this to me. And how can you tell a person to try to go threw the withdrawal by herself? Will you be responsible if anything happens to her?. Would love to hear your answer. She could get a heart attack as she was taking it for 10 years! And so many other symptoms ad well.
The best advice would've been to pit herself inside a hospital to get taken off or seen by a Dr and she could explain her situation.

Dr's now a day take advantage of us the patients. True they go threw many many many anders just exaggerate a bit, millions of books. I think we all know this. But it was their decision to study this. We never pushed them.to do it!
They take an path at the end of their education and on part is...do not do harm! !!! You have heard of this right.
Dr's as this one this lady has or had is doing harm to her, mentally and physically. As many have done to so many of us. And I include myself in this group of a Dr doing harm.
Not as what she is or do went threw. But another way.
I had a Dr do a cataract surgery on my eye. Went threw he-- and back. First with the surgery. Even felt the lense going in. Screamed so loud that they has to knock me out. Then the way I looked. I did Sue him, but one thing I'm going to tell you now, to all here.
Always ask for your medical records, ALL OF THEM. As Dr's lie on them about us and what they've told us or done to us. I found out later. Also he, the dr, forged my signature as well. A child looked looked like they've written my name. And this is why many patients have said...Dr's get away with murder!!
This example, the lady and the xanax, as well as I. I or are example of how a Dr can get away with murder.
And xanax person, if anything would've happen to her, all she had to say was that she took ur advice. As u are part of the xanax group or company!! Your a lucky person that nothing did happen, at least I don't think so and actually, hope it did not.

Holly I found out that the FDA Made the company making LYRICA put Out a stronger warning on it because it was killing people! My Dr tried to get me to take it. I told him NO! I would rather have a few pain pills instead. When you go to a new psychiatrist they automatically think you are a drug addict just looking for more pills! Where I live all of the psychiatrist are getting out of the anxiety business. They don't want to be bothered. Too many people dying from opiates! So as far as getting any meds one needs I think we are just out of luck! My Dr whom I had been seeing for over 10 years got his licence yanked for giving out too many pain pills. Now he is not coming back at all. And the Dr whom he referred me to is going to go work for the VA
So I do not know who is going to prescribe my medicine at all. Good luck to all of you getting your medicine. I am completely off of Xanax now and feel better. It is a nasty drug! I am taking Clonzapam now. But I do not know where I am going to get it when it runs out!
