I need to find a doctor here in Louisville that can prescribe me methadone. I just recently got put on my husband's insurance plan which is Blue Cross Blue Shield. I was in a bad car wreck few years back so my back is in major pain on a daily basis! I even have at least 1-2 times a month that my back goes out completely and I can't walk or even move. So I was put on pain pills and not only did they not even really help that much, but they messed my stomach up so bad that I was hospitalized for liver trouble a couple years ago. After that I started going to the clinic to receive Methadone. Not only is it way too expensive, but I now that I have insurance I just want to start going to a regular doctor and just get my methadone prescribed now. I need help to find a doctor to do thi...

I've been a H addict for a long time and switched to methadone about 6 years ago. I have tapered myself down from 100 mg to 6 mg. I know when I'm going into withdrawal, I am physically addicted not mentally, and I don't think I'm going into withdrawal from this low dose. I know the half-life of methadone is 36 hours but its about 31 hours since my last dose, waiting on purpose, and I feel fine. ## Hello, Robbin! Are you still doing well? Methadone is a funny drug, while it does cause severe addiction itself in many people that take it, there seems to be a small subset of people that just have no issues with it and can walk away quite easily. Learn more Methadone details here. You do need to be very careful, but it's possible that you may not have any problems, at all...

I have a script for methadone. Took it to Walgreens, but they said it cant be filled until November11,2013... I really need my meds before i go into terrible WD. Plz help... ## If you are at a pain clinic, then you need to call them and tell them you've either had a bad month and over-taken and work with them to get you back on track. If its your family doctor? Be ware, they may cut you off completely. I've been down the road of methadone and it was a terrible drug to be on for me personally. I told my doctor to put me back on Percocets and I've been fine ever since. Nobody can get your script filled but you, however you do need your doctor or pain management doctor to understand its not working for you as you shouldn't be out so early if they were. ## Does anyone know of...

I live in Birmingham, AL and I just can't afford getting my methadone though a clinic since I lost my job, and I do not have insurance. Are there any doctors in the local area who prescribe methadone as maintenance program? ## I'm sorry, but under the current laws, private practice doctors cannot prescribe it for addiction/maintenance treatment. That can only be done in a clinical setting by those that have been specially trained in its use for such. Learn more Methadone details here. How are you and your husband doing? Due to the new regulations that were put in place this year, if he requires such medications on a long-term, ongoing basis then he''ll need to see specialists and yes, that's plural, because he'd need to see a pain management specialist for pain and someone else for the anxiety. My husband was prescribed Methadone for chronic pain associated with an amputation of his leg. We have since moved, and the new doctor doesn't want to prescribe Methadone and prescribed him oxycontin and oxycodone instead. He has not been asked to give a urine sample yet for the new doctor. How long will he test positive for the Methadone? He was on it for years and we have been told that it stays in the system longer than other medications. I was also asking because he is searching for a job, and I wouldn't want him to test positive for something that he is no longer taking. He was on 60mg's/day before the new doctor changed his medication. I wanted to know if it took days, or weeks or longer to get out of his system. Any information would be appreciated!

Just looking for a private doc to get methadone. I am tired of going to the clinic everyday ## Hello, Little One! How are you? I'm sorry, but a private doctor isn't allowed to prescribe it for addiction treatment. That can only be done by those that have been specially trained in its use for such, which means a clinic is your only option. But have you considered treatment with Suboxone? Learn more Suboxone details here. It is prescribed to be taken at home, rather than daily treks to a clinic and it also usually allows people to end up completely drug free, rather than requiring a lifetime maintenance dose like Methadone. It is, however, still a narcotic opiate, so it does have the potential to be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness,...

There are so many different answers/opinions on this topic. So i was hoping to get a simple yes or no answer. I am prescribed liquid methadone from a treatment center. I recently got a new job and im about to get hired in, but before that happens I have to go to the hospital for an initial drug test. I know it helps that I do have a prescription for the medicine I take and im not just taking drugs off the street, but with all that said, does it actually show up on a test? Should I be prepared and just get a slip from the doctor before going to take the drug test at the hospital? ## It might show up if the company/hospital requesting the test gets a detailed panel of drugs tested for. Some home urine drug test will also have it on a multi-panel configuration such as a 12 panel urine dip ...
