I live in Birmingham, AL and I just can't afford getting my methadone though a clinic since I lost my job, and I do not have insurance. Are there any doctors in the local area who prescribe methadone as maintenance program?

I'm sorry, but under the current laws, private practice doctors cannot prescribe it for addiction/maintenance treatment. That can only be done in a clinical setting by those that have been specially trained in its use for such.

And really, a private practice doctor is going to be more expensive than one of the clinics.
Have you tried seeing if there is an assistance program that you qualify for?
