How Long After You Stop Suboxone Do You Have Withdrawal Symptoms? (Page 36)
UpdatedMy 63y/o mother survived chemo and radiation for throat cancer but was unable to stop the morphine 15mg twice a day without horrible withdrawal symptoms. Her MD put her on Suboxone 8mg/2mg once a day in June. She even took half the strip on most days and the doctor was very pleased and anticipated that she would be able to stop altogether in November. She unfortunately had a stroke 14 days ago and has been in the hospital. The first 7 days she was confused from the stroke but now she is weak and forgetful but is no longer disoriented. She told me tonight that she thought she needed her Suboxone. She said she thought she was going thru withdrawal. I was floored. She is not having any outward signs of withdrawal: no back/stomach pain, no nausea/vomiting, no sweating or tremors. Isn't 14 days long enough for the Suboxone to be completely out of your system and for withdrawal symptoms to have come and gone??? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.
Yup. Restless legs due to wds are the worst. Honestly for me, most of the other symptoms are tolerable but no sleep because I can't lay still is what got me every time. I would be exhausted. To the point of practically hallucinating and would still only get 20-30 minutes of sleep a night for days on end. It was almost a full week before I was able to get 2 hours of sleep. I was a zombie. And nothing over the counter worked for me at all. Eventually I tried some Gabapentin nerve pain pill) and that was a life saver. That's when I started sleeping at night and was finally able to get the monkey off of my back.
Yeah I knew about rls I had it when I was taking the pain pills every now and then before the addiction, at one point I was buying leg cramp pm and leg cream cause my legs would absolutely kill me at night. I figured it was from standing on my feet all day. But I only get it during withdrawals now. I still find it odd I feel so drained instead of not getting sleep like others feel. I could sleep all day sometimes I do but that helps me with the withdrawals but makes it much harder for me to get up. Then again it could be the same reason the fact I haven't went a day without a piece. I've been doing one tiny under the fingernail piece a day. I'm going to do it for about a week before I feel like I can jump. Idk if I'm suppose to eventually feel better when I wake up to where I don't need a piece or if I have to force it.
Not sure if my last message sent but yep I thought I had rls a while back before withdrawals cause my legs kept me up all night. I was taking leg cramp pm and leg cramps cream.
But I'm not jumping yet so I'm not sure if I'm feeling the full withdrawal affect cause I do not have any sleeping problems. I take about a under fingernail piece a day so tiny tiny to get me up. I start to withdraw a few hours later but nothing serious like I used to. So I'm wondering if I'm going to start feeling like I don't need it anymore in the morning on my own or if I have to force it. Like force a day without.
That's what I get as well.. sometimes it helps to take a warm bath.. at least it helps me.. I looked up ways to calm the restlessness.. Monday I will be 3 weeks off of subs and I'm STILL dropping dirty for them..I took a test Monday and Wednesday... stiill there!!!... being restless when your tired is the worst thing Ever! Especially when all you wanna do is sleep and you got 3 kiddos!! A 5 year old 1.5 year old and an almost 3 month old!!... how long does the restlessness actually last...? Please tell me not much longer.......
I do not know your dosage and time on Suboxone, however I started withdrawals at day 7 and now in my tenth month and they are just as bad. No relief whatsoever.
I read that drinking a lot of Vitamin C and eating sugary snacks like m&ms help a lot. I've tried it before and it helped me a bit but that was before I went through daily withdrawal. Idk how you all are just quitting I can't get out of bed without my Lil tiny piece. One day. One day soon.
Amber- You have to be ready and want to stop that was really a motivator for me. The monthly visits for my prescription was so expensive not mention the Medicine even with insurance it was costing me lots. I was on subs for 5 years I no longer wanted to be a slave to it, tired of holding the secret, couldn't go places too long cause I would need to take more medicine, being reliant on it was becoming an issue for me. So my advice to you is to try and focus on how good it will feel to be off it. I am so much more alive not being on subs anymore. I actually want to go out and do stuff after work before I went to work and just came home to my apartment and remained in it like a hermit. Now I enjoy so many things in life I wouldn't go back for anything! It's amazing what the meds can do for u short term but I don't think long term is the way to go. My sub doctor said some patients will have to be on forever. I was like wow??? That's sad. So anyways I gained like 10lb on my detox from it, I ate a lot of food surprisingly it made me feel better. So I got whatever I wanted. But I also exercised everyday. So do what feels good to you while your going through get yourself as comfortable as you can. I would suggest taking time off work as much as u can. The more time the better. The first day I went out in public to a store, it was sooo weird I felt like I was high, everything smelled so good, everything looked good, sounds even sounded good. It was like being reborn, not saying this will happen to you, lol everyone is different. But you should get used to going out in public before u go back to work. Also make sure you have a support system. I had my parents to take care of me the first few days, then I didn't need them anymore. Keep us posted what you decide to do. Good luck!!!! And yes vitamin c is good for u for withdrawals.
Hello Amber, how are you doing? Just to elaborate on your post, I took vitamin D supplements and fish oil when I quit subs and they seemed to help a little with energy levels and general body aches and anxiety. I don't know if it helped enough to say you need to go buy these things, but I'm glad I had them. Unfortunately though, there is no cure all except time. Any vitamins or supplements will have minimal effect. They are good to use to replenish nutrients if you lose your appetite but nothing will make you feel great. Considering the low dose that you have been taking you should feel mild, but manageable symptoms. Every body is different but you're definitely helping yourself in the long run by taking as little as possible. Keeping up with your daily routine and keeping your mind busy will be your best chance at success. I always felt worse when I just sat around focusing on how bad I felt. When I had to get up and be busy, my symptoms would temporarily subside because I wasn't thinking about them. Winning the mental battle and staying positive is the biggest key to success. I wish you luck. It's not easy but it is possible! Keep us posted!
Yes trust me I want to be off. I lost my job and I should have been working through the withdrawal the 7 months I did have one. No one but my boyfriend knows I do then he was able to kick his quick I just could not believe it! He did a lot of construction work he told me he kept himself busy and didn't think about it. But he had marijuana to fall back on and I don't like the stuff, it makes my anxiety worse. The only thing that makes me take that piece in the morning is the AWFUL stomach pain in the bladder area. I looked up Interstitial cystitis because it looks exactly like what I have and the Subs could have been masking buuuut I could be having muscle spasms in my bladder from withdrawal its hard to tell cause I've had bladder problems for years and the doctors just blamed an infection or not enough water. Not having a job has gave me no choice but to quit because my bf lost his too and we live together our parents have been giving us a little food. I start an at home job the 25th and I was hoping to kick it by then but man this stomach pain is unbearable if I could go to the doctor I would. I just don't have the money or want to be listed as an addict when I'm trying to beat it. I sleep a lot so I don't have to feel the pain every time my bf eats it wakes me and I have to feel it. I did start drinking water as soon as I wake it helps a bit. I totally agree about the hermit but we don't have much of a choice. Sorry rambling I done my little piece but even so it doesn't completely mask the stomach. I'm not sure how I'll be handling the job when I start taking calls but I'll be finding out.
Unfortunately not.Try more like 30 days and that's just starting to feel better. It can take months before all withdraws are gone and even a year to feel completely normal.
I'm not clear, which did you feel was best for detox of opiods, subuxone or methadone. I was on and off suboxone for almost 2 years. Pain and functionality in life got worse, so went back on pain pills. Several years down the road, with my life at a dead end road, I'm considering methodone. Are you saying that you wouldn't take methodone for more than 30 days?
Atleast 30 days but I say a lot longer it's a real real long time just as bad or worse then methadone I been on both for a long time and know the withdraws are way worse theN any ops or H on this planet, it's because the half life is so long, like how long just a a little bit works for you it's gonna take that much time and more to get out your system . It's would be way better for someone to go cold turkey over trying to detox with sub because it's a week vs a month really longer and the mental effects on top of that your dopamine levels are all out of wack on this stuff, so like if somebody was on sub and wanted to go back to ops then they would be screwd, because your tolerance never goes back down and on sub you just develop a highe-r tolerance. I have no idea why they would put a 60 something year old on it that's crazy. But anyways I hope your mom gets better it's bad stuff to be mixed up in the op game welcome to the club, It's starting to affect people of importance and not just us junki-E's so I'm sure there won't even be ops at all 10 years from now, I mean look around it's already starting I know off subject but Yep teenagers or not Gonna know the pain that's a good thing but I'm sure by then Green will
Be legal everywhere and that will be like cigarettes and they will come up some kind of crazy super designer Ds or where Gonna have a super healthy society and peeps like me are gonna be hurt lol owell, ,
There not believe me. Withdrawal is a beast. U know as well as I.
They are exactly the same on the detox end but a huge difference for pain relief I take methadone over sub any day, it actually helps with pain and actually you can get it out your system faster I think, trust me been on both over ten years, if you have pain go with methadone if not go with sub, if you can only get methadone from a clinic where your from then go with sub it be cheaper but if you can get it from a doc go with methadone, there's clinic for both now but I don't why someone would go to a Buprenorphine clinic when you can get it from a sub doc easy Suboxone that is not subutex but getting methadone from a doc in Tn lol ha never gonna happen, I have scoliosis major back problems and I can't find not one dr. That won't give me methadone that I can live a normal life on but they will give me other Ops all day long but not what I know works for me, so I had to settle with sub and have to go to an addiction doc to get it and haven't done ops in 10 years, sorry for back story but yeah they both are bad but methadone more benefits for people with pain but peeps with low tolerance go with sub hope all goes well , ,
This thread is about 4 years old so its best to go off who is commenting now.
I feel Ya I been thru it all and still going thru it, Idk why I even post on these forums anymore I said I wouldn't post anymore but I always come back becaus I'm so amazed at peeps ignorance about all this stuff. And on the sub note a year like dude said its gonna be over a year and the physical way over a month don't even get on sub if you just a lil dr0 10 takers if that's the case ha cold turkey off that Tylenol lol , ,
Ive been on subutex since 2005. Initially i was on suboxone but had bad effects. Ive gone 7_10days without before any w/d symptoms and th r y were just cravings nothing physical. Guess my receptors are really saturated well!! I take 24mg a day. Im an addict and still fight the urge to take more at stressful times. I know the ceiling deal. Anyway I have had REAL W/d and its NO JOKE. Its extensive and totally miserable. My dr informed me I would have to take thus all my life. This came from a reputable addictionologist at Ridgeview Int. in Atlanta Ga. Ive been addicted ti opiates20+yrs. I have no problem with it. My liver enzymes etc are great. Im 57. So we do what we have too. It has saved my life. Good luck
It's not always best to go by who is posting now( unless you are answering a question that someone asked years ago ,and already got an answer. ) you can have ongoing dialogue with people on here, and you can ask a very specific question and find answers that are helpful then and now. It's all good :)
Methadone is a bad drug. I'll leave it at that. Bad in your physical health ext. hard to come off. I was in it 5yrz before I found subutex. I also buried my eldest daughter from dying accidental od. Please don't get on a drug Hitlers scientists made to help them fight longer. You will deplete calcium thus your teeth will fall out etc look at the eyes if people on that poison. No soul. Sad. I love my subutex. Its a clean drug and its saved my life. I never plan to stop taking it. It is equal to insulin to a diabetic. My liver enzymes etc are great.
Roxanne I definitely do not believe that it is a good drug at all. It is a drug it is an addiction and its just as bad. Think of all the pain it is covering up. A day off of it made me notice how much real pain my body was in especially my stomach.
