AcipHex blocks acid production in the stomach. It is prescribed for the short-term (4 to 8 weeks) treatment of sores and inflammation in the upper digestive canal (esophagus). This condition, known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), is caused by the backflow of stomach acid into the esophagus over a prolonged period of time. Because GERD can be chronic, your doctor may continue to prescribe AcipHex to prevent a relapse after your initial course of treatment and to relieve symptoms of GERD such as heartburn. AcipHex can also be prescribed for the short-term (up to 4 weeks) treatment of duodenal ulcers (ulcers that form just outside the stomach at the top of the small intestine), and for Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, a disease which causes the stomach to produce too much acid. The d...

Prilosec literally saved my life. I have two kinds of kidney disease, both types of renal failure. They had me on 60mg of prednisone, 3 times a day. Lipitor, Lasix, hyroclorothiazide, and a whole slew of blood thinners. And I couldn't keep any of it down. I was dying at age 15. My parents were terrified. We bought a packet of Prilosec thinking "What have we got to loose?" I stopped throwing up. I kept a little food down. As soon as I started keeping it down, my skin got brighter. My eyes weren't fogged over. By day two, my medicine started working. By day three I had started to lose all the water. I peed out 80lbs of water in a week, by urine was trace for protein, and I started building up muscle mass. I am now 20 years old. I still need a kidney, and the hospitals pret...

Please advice is it OK to continue with same medicine or should I have to switch. And will be there any problem in furhter since I have taken this Omez 20mg for 6 years. Please give me your valuable suggestion. ## Have you consulted your doctor and are they aware that you've been taking it continuously for so long? The issue here is that these types of medications are not actually recommended for such long-term usage. Omeprazole and its relatives, are usually only used for 2 to 4 months, then discontinued, so they haven't actually been studied for their long-term effects.

why shouldn't you take nexium with alcohol, when alcohol gives you heartburn ## Nexium treats heart burn symptoms as a result of excessive consumption of alcohol. Nexium prescription will reduce the severity of such symptoms. However prolonged use of this medicine is not advisable. In fact nexium pills show better relief from gastro esophageal reflux diseases (GERD) only. Some users get really ill when combining alcohol and nexium, while this combination doesn't have the same effect on others. Nexium (esomeprazole), however, is metabolized by the liver; so if you have a liver disease from too much alcohol, this would not be a wise choice. Additionally, in some people, alcohol can cause acid reflux to be worse. So while there isn't a drug interaction between Nexium and alcoho...
