I have been recommended Rabesec-D SR for neck pain, but there has been no improvement. Could you please explain why this medicine was prescribed to me in the first place if it doesn't help with general pain relief? ## Himani, this medicine is essentially used to counteract acidity. It contains Rebamipide and Domperidone, which aren't related to pain management. ## @himani, I found some information on a couple different medications that relate to the one you mentioned in your post. The first is "Rabesec" and contains the active ingredient Rabeprazole. The second is "Raberon- DSR" and also contains the active ingredient Rabeprazole sodium (20 mg) as well as Domperidone(30 mg). Rabeprazole is used for short-term treatment in healing and symptomatic relief of duodena...
Hello, I have terrible heartburn and taking Ocid 20. But now I am pregnant of 19 weeks and taking it regularly. Is it safe to take during pregnancy. I am worried ## Hi, Sanu! Sorry about the heartburn. Have you looked at your diet to see what's causing it? In many cases there are food or drink triggers and discontinuing your indulgence in them may resolve the issue. As to this medication, it contains the active ingredient Omeprazole, which is a proton pump inhibitor and while there have been no human studies done, animal testing has shown that there is some risk to the baby, if a mother takes this medication while pregnant. Learn more Omeprazole details here. You need to talk to your doctor about it, I've no doubt that they can help you find something you can use that is safer a...

white capsule with white band with O M on band and 20 on bottom of capsule,,,,colour is slightly off white ## Hi colm, The closest match I've found is Omeprazole (20 mg); It is a white capsule, with what appears to be one or two white bands, and the imprint OME 20 in black letters on both sides. Omeprazole is used in the treatment of dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease, indigestion, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and more. Some of the most frequent side effects of Omeprazole (experienced by over 1% of those taking the drug) are headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, dizziness, trouble awakening and sleep deprivation, although in clinical trials the incidence of these effects with Omeprazole was mostly comparable to that found with placebo. Do you think...
I have been using cylift for 5 years. My doctor put me on Venlor 8 months ago. I was doing well on cylift. I also take Pariet for GERD. Now with the Venlor I have increased accid reflux and a feeling of pressure between breasts. This I never had with Cylift. Can I go back to Cylift. I stopped Venlor TODAY to see if the accid reflux decreases. However, I do not want to "crash" again mentally like before when I used to take myself off medication. ## Hi Bebo, From your description, I don't see why your doctor would have any particular reason to deny you the ability to switch back over from Venlor to Cylift; especially if he can also judge that it's not the appropriate medication for you. You also mentioned that you take Pariet for GERD. Has this medication ever given you an...
I wouldn't even consider getting off of Nexium. I hadn't heard the stomach thing. Are you sure that's true? Gerd can cause esophageal cancer so don't know which is worse. I have esophageal spasms and the pain mimmicks a heart attack. Ended up in the ER twice thinking I was surely dying. I don't think I would get off ## What is the stomach thing you are talking about. I just started taking Nexium. I have terrible chest pains. I have gastritis, esophagitis, and inflammation in the duodemun. Will Nexium get rid of all of this. Thank you, Patty ## I have the same same diagnosisies: Nexium did not work for me--caused the gas to move quickly to my bowels. I am using Georg's Aloe Vera, Probiotics (not enough I guess). II also have a rectal ring in the sigmoid collon. An...
I am on Cymgen and Nexium, and experience extreme tiredness and sleepiness ........... any comments? ## Are you aware of the side effects associated with each medication? Esomeprazole (Nexium) lists "excessive tiredness" as a serious side effect that should be addressed by your doctor as soon as possible. Cymgen (Generic Cymbalta) also listed "tired feeling" and "drowsiness" as common side effects. It's difficult to say which medication is doing it more than the other (if not equally), but none the less, I'd recommend contacting your doctor to get a better evaluation of what's going on and how you should effectively handle it. It may be that you need to change medications to something less harsh on your system. I hope this helps! ## Thank you David, i...

Is taking Omeprazole contraindicated while taking nitrofuran monohyd macro 100 mg? One of the warnings in the information sheet provided for the medication is to "not use magnesium trisilicate-containing antacids while taking this medication." ## Hi Diane, Based on my research there actually aren't any drug interactions listed between those two medications 'in and of themselves'. However, if Omeprazole tablets do contain "magnesium trisilicate" as an inactive ingredient (which I've read that it does from several searches), then it would probably be best to play it safe and adhere to those packaging guidelines; unless of course your doctor instructs you to do otherwise for one reason or another. Is this your first time having to use either of these medicat...
This is a pink liquid in a bottle with the instructions: Swish 2 teaspoonfuls 15 min. before meals and bedtime, then spit. This was prescribed by my radiologist, Dr. Young ( I had cancer surgery and am now undergoing radiation and chemo-therapy.) But what is this medication supposed to do for me? I'll ask Dr. Young, but before I get to see her, does anyone out there know? ## Hi, Paul! Wow! You've been through a lot and aren't done yet, I hope all goes well! :-) These combinations are sometimes given because some radiation and chemotherapy treatments may result in mouth sores that can make it hard for the patient to eat or drink anything and your doctor is trying to prevent that from happening. (I can't actually speak for your doctor, so I could be completely off the mark...
What could happen if I took 2 of these in one day? ## Hi, Cat! That would be twice the maximum recommended daily dosage, so yes there could be some dangers associated with taking two of them in a day. One concern would be the possibility of your lowering your production of stomach acid too much, which could result in your food not being properly digested. That has the potential of causing dangerous stomach issues, as well as blockages and a deficiency in vital nutrients. The other issue that it may cause is an increased risk of hip fractures, just like those which may occur with very prolonged ingestion of these medications. If one isn't handling your acidic issue, then you should speak to your doctor as they are other medications you can use, or you can split it up into 2 20mg dose...
I am not on medical aid, was prescribed Altosec now would like to know if I have to have a prescription to get Altosec or is there an over the counter equivalent. ## Hi, Jill! From what I can find, Altosec is listed as containing Omeprazole, which is a proton pump inhibitor that's used to help reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, to treat or prevent conditions such as heartburn, GERD, ulcers and gastritis. And yes, it does require a prescription in most countries. However, there are some that have been made available over the counter in many countries, so you could likely ask a pharmacist/chemist to help you find an equivalent that would be cheaper for you. Is there anything else I can help with?
Will Carasate act quickly to alleviate abdominal pain from acid reflex problems. I have a hernia in my lower esophagus area that is affected by acid reflex. Also, is Carasate OK to take when you are on the drug OMEPRAZOLE? ## Hi Ken Pettichord, Are you referring to Carafate? Based on my research, the amount of time it takes for Carafate to start working really depends on your own body chemistry. From what I've read, some people have immediate results, and others don''t (results within a few days instead). Unfortunately when it comes to prescription drugs (or any type of medication for that matter), the only real way to find out how a medication will work is to try it for yourself and decide after a few days to a week or so if this drug is really right for you. To answer your...

I now am taking nexium 45 minutes before my first meal of the day. At the next meal I take a calcium/vit D/magnesium supplement. When can I take meloxican for inflammation in my sacroiliac joint and so that mobic will not interfere with the benefits of the supplement and nexium. ## Hello, My research states that Meloxicam can be administered without regard to timing of meals or accompanying administration of antacids. I'm not quite sure if this would work the same when it comes to vitamins- but I believe you would be ok to take the Meloxicam about 30 min- 1 hour after you take the vitamins. If you experience any changes in the effectiveness of your vitamins while taking the Meloxicam, it would be a good idea to contact your physician. You can learn more about this drug on the page f...
