I have been taking Harvoni for 3 months now and am having nerve pain in my legs and lower back pain. Is anyone else taking Harvoni having any of these same side effects as me? Please help if you are able. Thank you

Yes i have all of that. I have diabetes, bad back an chest pain, and i take 10mg of pecs, qid, with Valium, and high blood pressure. I am finding it harder to get out of bed and i just wondered if anyone feels better after this high dollars treatment?

Agree, I too am Hep C free, since taking Harvoni, developed health issues, severe joint pain in my fingers, I do have osteoarthritis, never had this much pain before taking the med. Now have Hypothyroid on Synthroid for that I was diagnosed years ago with Scleraderma An Autoimmune disease should have done more research on Harvoni before taking it.

Lisa M, I often had "liver pain" and at first I was told the liver has no nerves, so you can't be feeling your liver. Then a different doctor saw that my liver was very swollen and told me what I was feeling was the liver stretching the capsule surrounding it that has lots of nerve endings. Don't know if this helps you, but it is what I was told.

I worked thru treatment also because I had to survive. But I suffered and I am still suffering two years later. Please do not judge everyone so harshly. That isn't fair or decent of you. I personally do not know anyone on disability who finished treatment. Maybe they would be better off if they were. Many are financially struggling because they are so sick now. Very disappointed to read what you wrote. Don't judge because there but by the grace of God go I.

Wow, James, I have to say, that while reading what you posted I started off thinking about many things like how lucky you are, being able to continue to have the ability and strength to still be able to work because the side effects of Harvoni are not only very real for so many of us, they have even killed MANY thus far as well. Just as I was beginning to feel some happiness for you and some empathy for you on those bad days that you are able to get up, get the strength and are able to work throughout those days, you go and say something that is so far from the truth, I and many others are not lazy. I and many others are not looking for a handout, we are looking for a hand up. I am not looking for anyone's approval, I know first hand my side effects and results and I can only state the facts that apply to me, so whether you buy it or believe it, Is not the question, nor is it the issue..... Everyone's reaction and side effects are theirs and are very real to them.. I am a Veteran, I am not some lazy schmuck looking for a handout and a tissue however I am disabled, whether you like it or not, whether you believe it or care about it really doesn't means anything in the grand scheme of things either. Please know I would much rather be out there making a great income AGAIN but instead I am bedridden, with blurry vision, with a foot the size of a basketball, with headaches due to infections caused by Harvoni as well as about 26 or 27 other side effects like severe peripheral neuropathy and several other VERY debilitating side effects. Your opinion about me and other people that have had their lives turned upside down, inside out and that are now a shell of what they used to be couldnt be more inaccurate and to suggest that those of us that are receiving disability are somehow lazy, looking for a free ride, really is upsetting and disturbing to be quite Frank. I spend my days dying slowly, having test after test yet finding little help in the way of slowing these side effects and symptoms down.. I had a life before Harvoni, now I cant get out of bed without serious pain, serious and painful neuropathy issues, dizziness and excruciating pain in back, head, legs and nerves as well as all my swollen joints.

After I read what you wrote and said, my thoughts are that you really have no idea how bad some of us have it, second you're very lucky that you can still work and last, you may not be in tune to others who have had real life changing side effects like myself.... I am happy, very happy for those who have taken Harvoni with little to no side effects, you are apparently in that group... However, I also grieve for those who died, for those who had mothers, fathers, sons, daughter etc., on Harvoni that died and for those like me whose life is almost a complete 360° difference for the worse who is also dying a slow painful death. I went from being a person who had a life, a person who enjoyed life, a person who was happy to wake up, to a person who now, all due to Harvoni has no quality of life.. Usually when I respond or share a issue or experience, I always say I'm a so happy for those whose side effects hasn't and didn't ruin their lives and are living a relatively pain and issue free life living the dream and vision of Harvoni, even being a little envious because thats what my hope as was all our hopes. I took Harvoni with the thought and hope that I could lead a healthy, disease free life and be able to add years to my good life, now, I just pray to be able to get out of bed, be able to see clearly again and please know I dont want this kind of life. So, while your comments, started off okay, even having a little bit of my understanding and appreciation for how strong, determined and fortunate you are. Then, you kept writing and wound up oblivious to those of us who lost everything, and how Harvoni has affected us physically, mentally and emotionally...... Everyday I keep these people in my prayers, as well as me because it has hurt us so very bad and every night praying to God that he may see fit to heal us and to restore some kind of A LIFE back to us,,, I will be including you in my prayers as well, praying that individuals like you are given more of an open mind.... I ask God all the time why, why some have so little side effects, because it blinds people who have gotten through it relatively unscathed to other peoples real plight.. James, I WANT my income back, I WANT my life back,,, but first,,, I would be happy to be able to get up out of bed, I would give ALL the air that I breath to walk and be half pain free as well as to be able to see clearly again. So may God continue to bless you and your recovery and may he also bless you with more understanding, more empathy for those who were not so fortunate or blessed as you have been.

Sir thank you for repling to these post! I am very sorry for what these doc r doing to us so I decided to stop treatment i am on day 56 varil load is ok but the doc never told me about any of these long term effects! Thank you again and my god bless u and ur family

There are many different side effects, many of which doctors are refusing to acknowledge. Many of the more common are long term (permanent) joint pain, muscle pain, headache, tinnitus, hair loss, fatigue, brain fog, swelling of the the body, just to name a few along with severe liver damage, death, heart issues, lung damage, brain lesions, etc. I have a list from the FDA as well as have talked to many people who are now damaged after Harvoni, me included. Wish I never took it. Hep C is NOT an automatic death sentence and doctors only know what the drug reps tell them about medications. They are certainly not know alls by any means. Good luck to all.

9th week on HARVONI... Mild to more+ side effects like headaches, intestinal pain, bodyaches, swelling. Yet Hep C itself causes some of this and so to kill it the cells must release it into the blood so wherever its hurting you your sick. but until now none daily really. excepting now having back/lung pain. See Dr this Friday and will address.
BUT I am left with the impretions after being progressively sick for years and what I needed to learn is this.
Hep C is the enemy. What it progressively can do to some peoples body is horrific yet not all of us have the same reaction in our bodies from Hep C> Each of us have individual though some common attacks made on our bodies From Hep C. So what I believe is that in myself for instance it has drastically attacked my liver and I was stated Stage 4 Chirrosis..... and unbelievable as it seams in the natural just received my blood testing and it seems, an act of God for myself. I had worked hard to reduce my AST/ALT levels from 487/440+ to 102/130 ranges and it now shows NORMAL @ 35/43! Astonishingly my Creatinin/Platelets/Billirubin etc.... all these organs I have been watching out for and treating and now they all show normal. I mean all in normal range. Look, we all suffer....or ...die but not unless you want to and our gracious and ever giving God of the most high says stay in faith...and he will fight your battles for you. Amen

Thanks for your prayers. Likewise I pray for all that battle this. We should remember our God will do his part. BUT.... are we doing our part? Are we being irrational, hypersensitive or hyper vigilant? PAIN after time plays tricks on us just as the enemy. If you have heard of someone with bad injuries that didnt even notice the more minimal ones until the main pain is removed? See if our body's are riddled with misc. issues and failures due to Hep C then remove one and you'll notice the others. Even others you may not know you had. The enemy is not Harvoni or big Pharma or conspiracy's. Though their may be some truth to that... the enemy is Hep C. I am no proponent of Pharma companies but to get medications like this approved is not only difficult but go through many hands. I know many have posted complications and wish they had not started. For me its saving my life. See Harvoni is killing the virus that wreaked havoc on my liver, kidneys, gallbladder, pancreas, and skin and joints. All these are and were from the enemy Hep C. In most cases Harvoni is the David and Hep C Virus Goliath. Since we all talk to ourselves daily I feel we should try to focus the conversation on healing and not be angry and in pain. Focused on that only brings more. I have read so many blogs and feel the focus is on the wrong thing. Because healing when your acutely ill comes partially by how we think, talk and act and is recommended by the scribes whom left the writings of many for centuries. So focus should be on how great the divine healer is and not just the man made pill. I rethink how I traveled to this moment and realize it was no accident.

My challenges started when a DR felt I had contracted Legionair while at a seminar and sent me in for further diagnostics and to the hospital who said I had pneumonia (cant spell that). I was being treated for both. Weak, muscle pain, irritable, sinus infections, backaches, lethargy, foggy, dizzy, temperamental, low oxygen, thick blood.... 7 doctors later and a few years and time and $ spent and I thought "well i have no certain diagnosis so I think I just need a vacation and a scotch". Some of these irritations went away as I was treating them with nutrients that my body needed for those organs etc to regain momentum and some came back. Harvoni was not the cause. My body was already compromised. An example is my liver that was nearly destroyed by the HEP C or nerve damage from a past car accident or sinus problems from 2 broken noses as a scrapper. Thinking in this way where maybe the body is starting to function properly after killing the infection and its learned to bypass some normal ways trying to heal us and now is having to change again and in so doing other ailments turn up? My skin was getting rashes and sores and not healing well and I felt very ugly. I worked on it and reduced the issues somewhat. Then taking Harvoni it came with a vengeance yet soon subsided. I believe its part of the process but will repost after I am done in a few weeks, have diagnostics and re-evaluate in 6 months. Yet I pray each one of you that you stay focused on whats possible and be faithful and bold in your requests. Amen.

Yes..... According to my health professional lower back pain can be caused by many things. Lung infection, Muscle under large thigh muscle and not the back. Gallbladder, kidneys, intestinal blockages, previous injuries etc.

I did the harvoni treatment for 8 weeks in 2015,in my third week started getting rash like on my legs and severe nerve pain that goes down my legs and I still have the pain . Dr did have me do B12 injections which I still do once a month,I feel exhausted a lot so I think that is a side effect.I am hep c free but there is side effects we have to deal with that are very unpleasant and I don't no if they will ever go away.

Doesn't go away?! This is a life changing drug! If my husband had known the side effects of harvoni.. he would have never taken it!! It has changed him! Brain fog, confusion, joint and muscle pains, feeling of being "out there".. he is depressed about these changes! He took 12 weeks a year ago. He is Hep C free but he said if he had known he would live with the Hep C! Please consider this before taking this medication! The doctor said nothing but headaches and tiredness.

I took harvoni for precaution only. I'm now 1 year post harvoni treatment and I now have more problems with gas building up than I had before. What are some ways to alleviate this symptom?

Hi Jenna for me its has been a yr since i finished harvoni but i'm very sorry to say my legs constantly pain & my knees & back hv gotten worse. I hv an appointment with a rheumatologist in Oct. This is Canada thats how long we wait. I can't stand too long due to the pain. I am beyond exhausted even if i am awake doing things for 3 hrs. I tolerate it in the daytime but at night the pain is worse i think bc i'm not moving. I take morphine for pain. I still would hv taken the harvoni tho. I hope it prolongs my life for awhile until transplant time. I am stage 4 & hv cirrhosis. My family Dr says i may hv RA or Fibromyalgia. I am 58 & still would hv taken the harvoni besides everyone's body is different. There is still a good chance u may get better. Don't give up.

You might want to read more about side effects in general before taking Harvoni. There are many who report horrible long term side effects. Others have no problems.

Charlie thank you for your post. You make some valid points. However I was hospitalized 3 weeks in treatment for pancreatitis. The md wanted me to stop taking Harvoni after reading fine print of side affects. Its been a year now and have more problems that I never had before treatment. I'm also extremely tried and muscle cramps along with tendinitis in my right shoulder. While I do believe with all my heart God is a divine healer Harvoni does have long term side affects that doesn't seem to improve.

I haven't posted on here in months, I have been reading the comments and after a 5 out of a 12 week course (I couldn't finish) I AM NOT DOING ANY BETTER WITH THE SIDE EFFECTS and it's been almost a year. I had a knee replacement mid April and started Harvoni June 30th, I still have issues with joints, and pain all over! Anxiety is though the roof! I have panic attacks if I have to drive, and I use to drive a retirement bus for a living.. God forbid I should fall or hit something because the area never heals! X-rays show nothing! But my body doesn't feel nor move right. I had full intentions of having my other knee replaced but don't feel confident enough to do it.

I also have no energy, no desire for life, some nights I pray my father who passed 3yrs ago will come get me. I keep gaining weight and I was obese to begin with, all the Drs can say is maybe its menopause?? I hate who I've become... I use to see life though rose colored glasses, now I don't want to even leave the house. The Drs don't have any answers, evaluation after evaluation with no results. Nothing wrong with you? Talk to a counselor? About what? How death would be a blessing if this is how the rest of my life will be? I pray things will improve, but I see no light at the end of the tunnel.

that is not true, if you what a quitly of life I wait until some other meds come out this is for big pharma to make money, I do some very hard research before I take any thing , get on every hpc c site, and compare what all these people are talking about , I hope that this helps because it has ruined my life
