Harvoni Side Effects (Page 19) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been taking Harvoni for 3 months now and am having nerve pain in my legs and lower back pain. Is anyone else taking Harvoni having any of these same side effects as me? Please help if you are able. Thank you
Doreen
I am curious about what got you the diagnosis for Leukemia, I have severe joint, muscle pain that is horrific, narcotic pain meds barely take the edge off the pain I am in. I am just wondering what tests I might need to get in the future.
Thanks for any advice also how did they determine the crystals in your joints?
Hang in there and keep drinking water, water and more water! Walk the talk, do whatever it takes to feel better! I smoke mmj, and yes i'm still taking pain meds and a valium! I finished on day 67! I felt bad and lost my job! All is good! Thanks.
Me to also having pain in my left arm ! And high potassium issues effecting my heart !
Re: Jim (# 369)
I am on day 2 of my harvoni treatment. I got infected in 2005 at the Big Spring V.A. facility in Big Spring, Texas from a dirty colonoscopy machine. I am In amarillo now, and have been seeing the liver doctors here since 2009. They tried the interferon treatment on me and it caused nerve damage to my hands and feet, and I was removed from that treatment because of that. Each time I would see the liver doctor, she would continue to press me to take the harvoni treatment, and I finally gave in this past thursday. I hope I haven't made a huge mistake here. I don't have a lot of trust with the V.A. Your story is a perfect example of why I don't trust them. I feel like a science experiment every time they do something to me. When you tell them a problem you're having health wise, they always seem to either minimalize what is happening, or dismiss it entirely! I feel your pain. I hope things get better for you. As for me, I am hoping for the best. I am not having any noticeable side effects yet, but like I said, it's only day 2. Lots of time left for me to see if harvoni is truly a cure or not. There are cases of relapse out there, and there seems to be stories of extremely serious side effects that people have. One of the reasons I gave the liver doctor for not taking the treatment earlier is that the data isn't complete yet about this drug, and I didn't want to end up growing a third eyeball, or end up in worse shape than when I started treatment. Time will tell, and I'll see. Some of the data will never be revealed. The problem with Internet information, though, is half of it is pure garbage. It seems some people take perverse pleasure in other people's suffering, so I can't really rely on what I read here either. I have no doubt what so ever about your story. I absolutely believe what your saying here because I am dealing with V.A. doctors too, and I know how some of them are. I wish you luck brother.
Re: Dogman (# 642)
Please believe my post, they just want this med sold! Best of luck. It's been 8 months and I'm slowly getting better! But I live on pain meds and mmj helps. Good luck.
Re: Jimmy (# 644)
Thank you! I do, and will continue to drink lots of water. It's funny, though, that as I was walking out of the doctors office, she said in an almost in passing way that I should drink water. I also brought up a couple of points to her about when to replace my razor and toothbrush. She almost, well not almost, laughed at the question. This is one of the bona-fide ways one could contract this disease, along with IV drug use, intra-nasal drug use, or any blood transference as in blood transfusions. Sexual contact being a dubious way of infection, but still listed as a way. I told her that I did not wish to re-infect myself with my own personal hygiene products, and she started going on about ALL of the other ways you could be infected. I was infected in an unusual way, a dirty colonoscope, and I'm not the only one this happened to. The places that made the news are Murphreesboro Tennessee, Atlanta Georgia, and Miami Florida. You may still be able to find these stories on the internet. They all happened at V.A. facilities. This is how I was able to prove how I had been infected at the V.A. in Big Spring Texas.
nope, not while on it but 2 years post, I have all of these things. Good luck to us all.
For all of us who are suffering after Harvoni or another product containing Sovaldi, please be sure you report your problems to the FDA. If we don't tell them they won't know.....not that they will do anything about it but they will never be able to come back and say they did not know.

Re: Sharon (# 656)
I have had issues for more than 2 1/2 years since I ended my 12 weeks of Harvoni.
Re: Sharon (# 658)
I am also more debilitated now then I was before treatment.
I am "cured" of Hep C. but wondering if the "cure" was worth getting cancer and a host of other issues :(
Re: New Day (# 457)
I am too. I had a nightmare experience with Harvoni. Was taking for 8 weeks and on week 9 had to run to see my GP. My BP jumped to 171, heart palpitations and shortness of breath. My left arm was feeling numb and I was sure I have a heart attack. Also high BP has gave me the worst headache i my life! Was very, very scary. My HepC virus was gone on week 3 so no way I was going to continue all 12 weeks. Also the deeper into treatment the more ugly side effects every day. Now taking BP medication and have weird migrating pains all over the body. We will all be lucky not to end up with some aggressive cancer after Harvoni. Many reports from people whose family members had died within a year after being treated with Harvoni. Please, think good before starting this treatment.
Re: JGP (# 59)
I also have horrible numbness and tingling in my hands.....they are always freezing. You are not alone in this.
JGP (#59) --
You can always stop taking it. Many people only take it for 8 weeks anyway. What is the status of your liver? Your bloodwork? What was your viral load? If you are one of the 1% (and there are plenty of us out here so I do not believe 1%) then the problems you are having may be lifelong. I am almost now three years post and have neuropathy, joint pain, constant headache, tinnitus, hair loss, horrible fatigue, none of which I had before Harvoni. And yes, absolutely report it to the CDC and the FDA!!!! That is the only way they will know we are suffering from this drug.
Re: Dogman (# 669)
Update! After my last post I started having a fever that started low grade, but each day got worse until a temp of 104. Finally got a phone call from my doctor and I'm at svr on my 8 week blood test. Temp finally broke, and now I feel great! Stopping was the right move. My blood pressure, which had been slowly creeping up over the years, has returned to normal! I check it each morning per dr instructions, and was told if it was in the normal range, I shouldn't take my blood pressure medication for that day. Before the harvoni, my blood pressure was high enough for me to take each day, but now post harvoni, my blood pressure is normal! I feel great, and my blood pressure is back to normal, and the virus can't be found in my blood. Right now, it's a big win. In three months I get more blood tests, done and if I'm still at svr, then I can be considered cured. My doctor does not think that I will be cured with only 8 weeks of treatment. I'm hoping she is wrong. I'll post the results when I get them.
Not sure who all you Pro people are maybe we didn't take the same medicine so either mean all these other people crazy or you people took sugar pills
Re: erna (# 684)
I'm sorry but this medicine has done nothing for me but make me ill and make me wanna jump out of my skin. If this is the cure I think I'd rather die... and by the way, I am in remission because I had cancer. I had chemo radiation and nothing can compare to this.
luna I have to respond to your last thing I had back surgery of really long time ago and I have my good days and my bad days now after less than 25 days on this I am miserable I am snapping at people I am bloated to anything I mean I am just a mess I wish I never would have started this thing
Re: Patrick (# 689)
I have heard of many people with heart issues post treatment. Some of course during it. It is the mediction!
Re: Keeneland (# 688)
I thought momentarily I was getting better, almost 2 years post, still have severe back pain, feet pain, digestion problems, ears ringing, headache! Every symptom of the drug while taking it is still with me, I feel like my life is worthless, I can't work or do much of anything in so much physical pain.
I too started to notice the same: legs pain while walking my dog and tingling in my toes. Do not have diabetes or overweight. Was left with blood presure highter then normal too. Did not have this problem before starting Harvoni. I just hope it is only these bad sideeffects I am left after Harvoni treatment. Ugly nasty medication. Would not recommend my worst enemy to take. Think good before agreeing for this treatment!
