When on statins, CPK level increases. How to solve this and keep the level healthy ? ## CPK levels indicate that muscle tissue is dying. Unless you are a serious athlete competing in marathons or cross fit competitions, you should not have an elevated CPK level. Let me repeat this, high CPK levels indicate that your muscles are dying. Muscle death is the last thing that someone should have if they want to remain healthy. Statins can lead to high CPK levels and muscle death. If this occurs, the statin should be discontinued. You cannot BOTH stay on statins and stop the muscle death. You need to discuss with your doctor about getting off the statins asap. As far as 'keeping your cholesterol healthy', that high cholesterol levels lead to heart disease is a highly debated hypothesis...

That's very unusual. Its typical side effects are listed by the FDA as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches. Have you consulted your doctor? There might be something else going on. Are you on any other medications? ## Side effects of statins can be a serious issue that should not be taken lightly. White capsule with KVC on one side and 1000 on the other ## Hi Cenic, The closest match I'm finding to your description is that of a white capsule-shaped/oblong pill marked with "KOS" on one side and "1000" on the other. This pill is identified as Niaspan ER 1000 mg; used in the treatment of high cholesterol, niacin deficiency, and more. Manufacturer: Kos Pharmaceuticals Does this sound like a possible match considering that the imprint isn't far off? ## Kind of, however the part where I run into problems is that the imprint says KVC very clearly. I found it in my room and am curious due to the fact I don't take any medicine. ## It's a vitamin C pill. Nothing to worry about. They're very popular in South Korea.

Hi, have been taking Rosuvas F 20 for last few years due to increased bad cholesterol. Before that I was taking Atorfen 10. I haven't seen a doctor for a while, can I continue with the medicine Rosuvas or are there any long term side effects on any other organ? ## Hello, Manish! How are you? You would be in far greater danger, if you let cholesterol continue to elevate, because that could cause a heart attack, or stroke, which may be fatal. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stuffy nose and joint/muscle aches. You should take it, as long as your doctor directs you to do so. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have run out of my prescription for Atorvastatin and had decided to start eating healthier and excercising. Unfortunately i cant afford to return to my doctor for advice on stipping the atorvastatin. Is it okay to stop Atorvastatin 10 mg cold turkey? ## Hello, Hart16! How are you? What did you decide to do? It would be best to consult your doctor, but stopping such a medication abruptly isn't actually considered dangerous. However, you may experience some withdrawal effects, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and diarrhea.

I'm taking Lipanthyl 145 once every day for sometime with Micardis 40mg once a day, then I reduce to one tablet every other day for two months in process to stop Lypanthyl gradually. Once I stop it after three days I get like Angina symptoms and hard to breath and the symptoms was horrible, I checked Triglyceride through Prima and I found my reading jumped to 3.7mmoI/L (with medication once every other day was between 1.8-2.1 mmoI/L). I learned this medication should not stopped suddenly but gradually like Blood pressure medications. My question how I can stop Triglyceride medication? And is these symptoms I get because of stopping Lypanthyl? And thank you for answer. ## Hello, Neion! How are you? What are you stopping it? Has your doctor approved of your doing so? If it is the only...

I have been taking 10MG of pravastatin without problems. Dr increased it to 20MG. Now I have several side effects. Could I take 10MG in AM and 10MG in PM and get the same benefit? ## Hello, Olive! 2 months ago I tripped in the louse - fell - slammed both upper arms onto floor hard! Very sore for a week or so. a month later arms still hurt - went to Dr, who took xray and said said it was in the soft tissue. now it has been 2 months and arms still hurt! I have been on lipitor for about 5-6 months and wonder if that might be why? I do have fibromylgia so hurt most of the time but this is different. Could the lipitor be delaying healing and causing continued pain? I am thinking about stopping for awhiel to see if it helps. ## Hello, Interestingly enough, joint pain, as well as muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, are all side effects of Lipitor. So I think you are right in assuming that lipitor was delaying your healing time and causing continued pain. Side effects referenced from: ...

please identify a pill: oval shape, pink in color & the # 55 on it. ## Hi Jingles, Based on the description provided, I located a pink oval pill imprinted with "S 5" on one side and blank on the other. The "S" looks very similar to the "5" right next to it; exhibiting minor differences in curvature. Any chance that the "55" could be "S5"? The pill itself is identified as a 20mg Simvastatin tablet, prescribed for use in treating high cholesterol. For further verification, the manufacturer is reported to be Accord Healthcare. I hope this helps! Please post back if you still think it could be something else.

I was prescribed Welchol for type 2 diabetes. My fasting blood sugar went from the mid 200's to the low 100's. But it upset my stomach so badly I stopped taking it.I would really like to start taking it again because it is the only thing I have found that works for my diabetes. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to prevent stomach upset? ## Hello, Radar! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you experienced. Have you made sure to take it with a meal? The manufacturer suggests you do so, to help prevent the nausea. That means to take it, just as your eating, not before. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches. Have you informed your doctor? They may have other ideas to help prevent the nausea.

I've been getting daily headaches while taking Colestid for diarrhea control. When I stop taking it the headaches go away. Is this a normal side effect? ## Yes, that can be a side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience constipation, dry mouth, dizziness and stomach pain. Have you tried anything to help with the headaches? Your doctor might have an idea of what could help alleviate them.

what can I use to treat my high cholesterol? ## This is just a nutritional supplement that contains vital nutrients, which are believed to help support nerve health and function. Some of them can help lower cholesterol, but likely not fast enough to keep you safe. The FDA lists its typical side effects as including nausea, due to its potency. What has your doctor instructed you to use? If it isn't too high, you may be able to lower it via diet and exercise, otherwise a medication that lowers it might be necessary.

I am allergic to sulphur dioxide and sulphites. I want to know if aspavor contains this ingredient. ## Hello, Michelle! How are you? The active ingredient in it is Atorvastatin, which is used to help lower cholesterol. However, since it is not available in the U.S., I cannot state what the inactive ingredients are, so it would be best to check with your pharmacist to be sure.
