I had no side effects except for my pulse increasing from 73 to 93 within an hour of the second pill. It is now 6:23 a.m. I am fine but a little hesitant about whether to take my metoprolol succinate er 25 mg at 10:30 this morning. And do I resume the regular dose of Nifedipine tonight at about 9 pm? ## Did you experience any other symptoms? The FDA lists them as possibly including nausea, dizziness, and hypotension. And yes, generally you should just continue with your normal dosing schedule, unless your doctor directs otherwise. Are these the only medications you are currently taking?

I have been on a beta blocker for several years and started having side effects. Dr. Switched me to Cardizem CD 180 about 8 years ago and now I'm having adema build up in one foot. Heard this could be a side effect. No other issues or ailments. BP good. Circulation good. Could I be running into a problem with the med? ## Yes, that could be a side effect of this medication, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Have you informed your doctor? I was just wondering the reason for taking cardizem hcl before a meal as opposed to taking it with or after I eat? Just curious... ## Sometimes, taking a medication on an empty stomach can cause it to be more effective. In most cases, that doesn't mean to take it a long time before a meal, but just before you start to eat. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, lowered heart rate, and hypotension. For example, I take Labetalol for blood pressure and the directions for it state that it can be taken with, or without food, but it has a higher efficacy rate if taken on an empty stomach, so you should be consistent, that way your doctor can get accurate readings and adjust your dosage accordingly. There are also case...

I started Nifedipine XR 30 mg last Friday, June 10,2016. I realize the tablet shells do not dissolve but I think the entire pill with the undissolved and unabsorbed medication is passing through my system. My blood pressure has not gone down since I started it 6 days ago. I happened to swallow a dental crown the same day I started the medication and have, unfortunately, been trying to retrieve my $900 crown so that I will not have to buy another. In this effort I have found 4 pills, each time thinking it was my crown, and upon inspection found the yellow medicine still inside each pill. My doc says I have absorbed the medicine but told me to double the dosage to 60 mg/day and was insulted when I mentioned the pharmacist told me to ask for a different medication. I have before and after ...
My Dr is reducing my diltiazem from 120 twice a day to once a day, and says he is concerned about this water retention. I am on Jed's for the water retention and I am concerned that my heart rate will go bonkers. ## I am concerned that by reducing my daily dose of diltiazem (120)twice a day to just one dose of 120 will cause my heart to go back into Afib.the doctor is concerned with the edema in my legs,he has me on a diuretic.,and has me on just once a day with the 120 dose of diltiazem.( just started). I am also on metropol 75 twice a day. ## It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions and the only thing you can really do is take the dosage they have told you to take and see what happens. I have moderate stenosis in my main coronary artery, also in other arteries some luminal irregularites, have had attacks of artery spasm, stress test was fine. I accidentally gave my father a isosorbide mononitrate ER before he went to bed tonight after he took one this morning. Should I call the doctor? ## While I doubt a double dose will do more than cause more side effects than usual, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, and headache, it is always best to check with a doctor to be sure. How is your father doing? Did he experience any adverse effects?

I am 39 and recently had quintuple bypass surgery. They took one artery out of each arm, a vein from my leg and used my mammoral artery. The surgeon said I would have to take diltiazem for about 3 months post-op so my radial arteries wont pulse and close off. My cardiologist says that I need to be on it for the rest of my life. My surgeon is also a cardiologist. Who should I listen to? Is the cardiologist just saying that to get kickbacks? Three months is a big difference from the rest of my life. ## Hello, Jay! How are you? Generally bypass patients do need to take such a medication for the rest of their lives, your surgeon may have just said it would be 3 months, initially, then you should be reevaluated to see how you are doing. Unless he owns a pharmacy, there is no way for your car...
