If so, then the generic you have is the same except for the fact that it might not be as strong as the brand name variety. The reason being, if a medication is in generic form, it is permitted by the FDA to be allowed to contain as much as 20% more or less of the actual active ingredient. Also, depending on the manufacturer- the binders and fillers (inactive ingredients) used could be different. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Casodex Details I hope I have helped to answer your question!

I am in total agreement with prostate screening with PSA. Nothing better than early detection of any kind of cancer. My husband had routine PSA followed by biopsy and eventually surgery for malignancy. He is now 7 years out and annually gets follow-up PSA. I personally am a lung cancer survivor 12 years out thanks to early detection with a chest x-ray by my PCP. For us, early detection is definitely the key factor.

Is anybody out there taking the new trial drug Ruxolitinib for Mylofibrosis? ## Yes ## Hello Dave, hope all is going well for you. My husband has recently started taking Ruxolitinub for Mylofibrosis and seems to be responding well, it's still early days (3 weeks to be exact) and feeling much better. How long have you been on this drug and are you responding well? ## Hi Carol. I've been on the drug over 4 months. I started on a sustained release version for a 4 month trial. This trial has stopped and they found the sustained release version did not work as well. I've been on the regular version 15mg twice a day for the past 10 days and I'm feeling pretty good. I've had relief from most of my symptoms and shrunk my spleen from 13.5cm to 7cm. The only complaint I have i...
I have been taking Xalkori since the end of May 2012. In the first 30 days, I had trouble keeping food down, lost 20 lbs and felt VERY sick. Praise God, I am on Zofran for the nausea and am keeping food down. I have started to feel better, much better than a few weeks ago.... But still get fatigued easy and overall feel weak. I am 50 years old. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if it gets better. ## I don't have personal experience, but I can tell you that those are normal side effects with most of these types of medications. Learn more Xalkori details here. And unfortunately, many such side effects do last the entire course of treatment with it, so you might just have to slow down a bit for awhile. Does anyone have experience with this medication? ## I have been on ...
How did this drug, with its horrible side effects and minimal efficacy (6 weeks survival vs placebo), ever get approved? How is its efficacy determined? What are the oncologist's responsibilities for managing side effects? ## @Rocky, With all the side effects, deaths, and money spent on the war against drugs, I have to wonder how almost every medication on the market has ever been approved. Regarding your last question, I think the link below may help shed some light on the roles and responsibilities associated with each type of Oncologist: cancer.net/all-about-cancer/newly-diagnosed/find-oncologist/types-oncologists However, I get the sense that their responsibility in managing each patient's side effects would just entail changing medications or dosages to better suit individu...
effudex cream for pre-cancerous skin treatment ## I think you mean Efudex. Efudex and Carac are prescribed for the treatment of actinic or solar keratoses (small red horned growths or flesh-colored wartlike growths caused by overexposure to ultraviolet radiation or the sun). Such growths may develop into skin cancer. When conventional methods are impractical--as when the affected sites are hard to get at--the 5 percent strength of Efudex is useful in the treatment of superficial basal cell carcinomas, or slow-growing malignant tumors of the face usually found at the edge of the nostrils, eyelids, or lips. Efudex is available in cream and solution forms. ## Based on my research, Efudex (fluorouracil) Solutions and Cream are topical preparations that contain the fluorinated pyrimidine 5-f...
have tried everything for post-herpatic neurapthy and nothing is working. any suggestions? ## The MayoClinic states that "there's currently no cure for postherpetic neuralgia, but there are treatment options to ease symptoms. For most people, postherpetic neuralgia improves over time." In my own honest opinion, anything can be cured over time. They said cancer couldn't be cured. They said diabetes couldn't be cured; and I'm sure plenty other diseases as well. But each of those have been cured and even reversed by numerous amounts of people who chose not to buy in to the negative beliefs. If I were in your shoes, using the knowledge I have, I would take on a primarily raw vegan diet that is high in fresh fruit, dark leafy greens, seeds & nuts, and maybe even s...
Im looking for other mothers or fathers who have children who are taking fenretinide medicine under a research study for Neuroblastoma patients (childhood cancer) ## Hi Melody, Although I'm not a father of a child taking this medication, I would still like to offer you as much information as I can on the research studies involving childhood cancer. The links below have a lot of insight on the studies and outcomes for various groups of children: umms.med.umich.edu/umclinicalstudies/detail_pub_study.do?show=YES&id=4559&TYPE= clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00053326 ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12796365 I hope this information helps in any way!

Updated in XalkoriMy niece swears she was diagnosed with stage 1 colon cancer. She showed her pills off tonight that is supposedly for the treatment. It is a white oval pill. Blank on one side. 160 printed in black on the other. No numbers or other letters. Just 160. ## I can't find a listing for this in any of the prescription drug databases that I've checked. The greatest likely cause for that is that such unlisted pills are usually just over the counter products. Learn more OTC drug details here. However, there is also a small chance that they are a foreign medication. Did she give any clue as to what they are supposed to be? ## All she stated that she didn't know what it was called because supposedly her son ate the label off the bottle. She's kinda known for lying and making stuff up...
i had to stop taking methotrexate over 8 weeks ago as my enzym levels went up, they are still rising hospital dont know why, i,m due to go for a scan, has anyone any ideas why this is still happening ? ## Which enzymes have gone up? There are many different ones in your body that they may be checking. Are you referring to liver enzymes? They can raise upon occasion without it really meaning anything dangerous, because many medications are processed through the liver and it may just need a break or support for a bit to get back to normal. ## thank you, yes it is 3 liver enzymes that had gone up, i had some good news this week, 2 of them have started to go down. still waiting for scan
So I used to blame the Prilosec I switched to instead of pepcid. This may be part of the problem. I started my 5 days on 3. Weeks off regime on Monday for chemo and switched to Prilosec at this time too. Had the same issue but it was more like in my throat and mouth. I now take 350 mg instead of 90mg. Of temodar. Also I don't know if this was the proton radiation but my eyes are failing me. Get blurry on and off. Also what can I expect for nausea During the week and the days after, how long it takes for the side effects to wear off, I know everyone isn't the same, just need some input. ## @Alex, Not to get off topic or anything, but have you tried any sort of natural alternatives to chemo and radiation therapy? It's been known for a while now that cancer can be and has been ...
How many prescriptions have been filled in January 2013? Jokerix ## Hi Barry, Based on my research there actually aren't any major studies (listed online) that go very deep, in so far as tracking how many prescriptions were filled in a given month. These numbers are also going to be different for each and every pharmacy across the globe... If you want to be more precise with your search, I would recommend going into each of your local pharmacies to inquire about these statistics. Maybe if you mention that you're doing some sort of community research project they will be less reluctant to provide you with the information you're looking for. I hope this helps!
Can I treat my bone/joint stiffness that I have recently started experiencing with Enzalutemide? ## Enzalutemide is an androgen receptor agonist that's used to treat prostate cancer, so it will not do anything to treat bone/joint stiffness. Have you consulted a doctor? That would really be your best option, instead of trying to treat yourself.
My father has kidney and bone cancer and has not been eating very much. His doctor just have him Megestrol AC 20mg tab stating that is has synthetic thc in it that should help his appetite. He has no problem taking that. However nowhere have I seen thc mentioned anywhere. So my question is. Is that at all true? Is there synthetic thc in this medication? Thank you for your help. ## No, there is no THC in this, synthetic or otherwise. Megestrol Acetate is actually a form of the hormone progesterone and it is used to increase appetite. You may find yourself more familiar with it if you think of woman taking hormone replacement therapy or contraceptives and the fact that it usually causes them to gain some weight, because it increases appetite. Learn more Megestrol Acetate details here. But...
