After 6 months of taking it I am off it for about 10 days. I have bad knees today I woke up with pain and swelling don't know if it's my knees or another clot. Saturday no doctor. Can I restart the drug for a day or two? ## Hello, John! How are you? Has anything changed? If you've had prior clots, you should likely seek out an urgent care or ER and have this checked out to be safe. I'd not recommend restarting the medication, without a doctor's approval. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Xarelto as including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising.
Hello great tool and great forum! My name is Toby, I am 36 year old male whom was prescribed Xarelto due to Thrombosys Superficialius. It is painful as it is in my left thigh and is the size of my thigh. Outside of a year and half ago I was extremely health male whom life revolved around the gym where my 6'3" frame consistently weighed in at 250 with less than 10% body fat but after a complete Distal Bicep tendon rupture I have struggled to get an ounce of normalcy back in my health and life. I am writing due to conflicting feelings regarding Xarelto. I began taking Xarelto yesterday with the initial "starter pack" dose of 2 15mg pills daily. Last night was miserable can be defined as sleepless due to painful "falling asleep"sensation in extremities at night. Day...

I woke up with a black eye. Hadn't had any trauma to eye. I've been feeling pain in my stomach and wake each morning with pain. I have lower back pain and doctors can't find anything wrong. My calf muscle get very tight more noticeable in the morning. I feel dizzy in head. Is it possible that xarelto is causing this? I've been on this drug for 2 years and in last six months these symptoms have been occurring. I have an irregular heart beat that's why I am on this drug. I'm seeing my doctor Wednesday and wondered would it be safe to take cartia instead. It's scared me that I have a black eye. ## Hello, Monique! How are you? Yes, that can happen to some people that take this medication. You need to see your doctor as soon as possible and most likely will have t...
I had one stent in Sept 2014. Do I still have to take Plagrol? ## Hello, Cecile! How are you? If you had to have a stent placed, then there's a chance you may need to take something for life to help prevent clots. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Plagrol (Clopidogrel) as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and constipation. There's no way to say for sure, but you should take it, if your doctor says it's needed. It is no different than anyone else taking medications for high blood pressure or other cardiac conditions. Is there anything else I can help with? ## How do I differentiate the drug Cetirizine hydrochloride and Clopidogrel. They all have the same imprint R 196?
I am on the following medication Warfarin , Aspavor and Co-Irbewin. can one use trepiline or other medication for burning feet ? ## Hello, Theo! How are you? The Atorvastatin in the Aspavor may increase the levels of Trepiline that you absorb, so caution should be used and you shouldn't take them together, unless your doctor has instructed you to do so, in which case they carefully calculate your dose to help keep you as safe as possible. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Trepiline/Amitriptyline as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?
My 32 year old Daughter is currently on Eloquis 5 mg twice a day and lately she has been expressing her concerns about the Eloquis. She has been experiencing considerable numbness in her legs and stomach and mildly in her face. It seems to be more in the fleshy areas of her body because when asked if she is experiencing that same numbness right under her breasts above where the swelling is on her stomach or on her feet which below the swelling she is experiencing on her both of her legs. Or even the fact that her cheeks on her face are numb but the forehead is not which also sort of points to the fact that perhaps the fleshy areas of the body are more affected by the swelling and/or the medicine. >>>I am writing this because she has been on the Eloquis for month and is seein...
can eliquis cause this? I have ruled out the other meds I am taking. no cateracts either ## Hello, Jo! How are you? It would be best to have it checked out, because according to the FDA, this medication has been known to cause someone to start developing cataracts, or bleeding in the eye. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and easy bruising. What other medications do you take?
I have been taking Xarelto approx. one month for AFib. Taking this drug terrifies me! I also have a bad case of psoriasis. My dermatologist prescribed many different creams over time but they didn't help at all. Last week he suggested methotrexate but said I would need blood work including a TB blood evaluation. I am so undecided about what to do. Does anyone know of an alternative other than methotrexate for psoriasis? Both of these drugs have such serious side effects it scares me. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. ## Hi Mila, You asked about alternatives for psoriasis. I've been doing some research lately on Nigella Sativa (Black Cumin Seed Oil) for topical application as a psoriasis treatment. NIH posted some clinical studies indicating its use as a remedy for suc...
My mother began taking Coumadin 2 wks ago. Her INR was 1.9 today, so it's progressing well toward a therapeutic level. Her doctor also increased the dosage of Metropolol when he added Coumadin. She reports that she's been feeling tired and "out of sorts" the past 2 days. She even took a nap today, which is unheard of! Does Coumadin cause generalized weakess and fatigue initially? ## Hello, Dee! How is your mom doing? To be honest, I'm more inclined to think that her symptoms are do to the higher dose of Metoprolol, it's very well known to cause such side effects. Others, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. Coumadin's typical side effects include nausea, headache, dizziness, increased risk of bleeding...
In June of this year, I had an acute event in which my intestines started dying and I came very close to death myself. My son, who is an er dr collaborated with my Drs and suggested they give me Heparin which eventually reversed the condition, saving my life. This week, I have had to see eye specialists regarding the sudden loss of vision in my left eye. After many tests they believe that I had a stroke of the optic nerve. I am a 62 year old female who is on 75 mg. of Plavix a day due to having stents placed in an artery in the back of my heart a year and a half ago. Initially, after having the stents put in I was on Effient but the cost was prohibitive so after about 6 months a new Dr prescribed Plavix. Could these two health emergencies be related to the Plavix? ## Dear Shelley, Sorry...
I was taking plavix 75 milligrams stop take me to start taking horse chestnut 300 milligram my doctor advised me that I need to continue to take my plastic 75 milligrams Along with a horse chestnut but after reading it on the Internet it just doesn't seem safe to me and I need a little advice on the as I do have high chol my stein heart in my right leg. I also take coq10 100 milligrams and cayenne and garlic on 500 milligrams. sorry I had given the wrong email address the first time I sent this ## Hello, Lu! How are you? The reaction is theoretical, it's not actually been proven to occur, so it would be best to follow your doctor's instructions. If you decide you don't want to take them both, then the best one to leave behind would be the horse chestnut, since it is an h...
I just started taking eliquis after getting PE after surgery. I was feeling OK at the beginning but a week later I'm noticing my asked hurt a lot now could this be a side effect?? ## I'm sorry that's my ankle. Not my ask. ## Hi angellepaine, Sorry to hear about your ankle hurting. It sounds to me like you may have to get it checked out by your doctor in order to know for certain what the underlying issue is. However, I did read on NIH.gov that "muscle hemorrhage" was a possible adverse effect of Eliquis, listed under the category of "musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders" at: nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid=e9481622. Not saying that this is necessarily what happened to any degree, but perhaps it's worth looking into just to be on the safe si...
I was put on Xeralto due to PE and it made my hair fall out and have heavy and longer periods. My doctor is now putting me on Eliquis I wanted to know if anyone had any hair loss or heavy cycles on eliquis? ## Hello, Monet! How are you? Yes, Eliquis risks causing the same side effects, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Can anyone that's taken it chime in? ## I have been taking eliquis since the end of april when i had hip replacement surgery. i've had no side effects at all. recommend Biotin for hair issues. I'm too old for periods. ## Yes, I have had heavy cycles while on eloquis. ## Hi. I noticed heavier periods on warfarin and I got a mirena iud which was one of the best decisions I...
I've been on Eliquis for a year now and have severe fatigue. I cannot make it to work a full week. Most weekends I sleep. ## Have you spoken to your doctor about the problem? There are other medications you can try. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. ## Yes, I have talked to my dr. Waitin to hear back. Thank you.
I have been on warfarin for 5 yrs now due to blood clots caused by polycythemia. I take 8 MG a day and I feel terrible most of the time .I have complained to my Dr many many times of the constant nausea and over the last year diarrhea and blurry vision and lots of gas! ..I'm finding no relief from these symptoms and am getting quite discouraged at how small my once active life has become. is there something I'm doing wrong or something I can do to get my life back? ## Hello, Ingrid! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems you're having. Have you considered asking your doctor about trying a different blood thinner? There are several others available, the FDA lists their usual side effects as including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy...
A family member is on Xarelto for afib, she recently had a nosebleed and when she first started xarelto last year she was bleeding, went to the hospital, but her doctor said it wasn't from xarelto, he thinks she passed a kidney stone but the bleeding cause was never proven. I was reading the information on the xarelto lawsuit and some studies claim that xarelto should be monitored just like Warfarin so doctors can tell how xarelto is affecting each particular patient. Huh? Does this mean the doctors have no idea how xarelto is working in the body? If xarelto requires monitoring, then it has no advantage over Warfarin, and shouldn't cost $3,000 yearly. I am wondering if my family member should insist her doctor monitor her blood now to make sure xarelto is working properly? Any c...
Updated in XareltoFirst, you need to find out why you are getting the clots especially if it does not have to do with an injury. I had two episodes of clots on my lungs and God left me here. The hospital did not want to do testing to find out why I was getting clots, there were no injuries. First they put me on coumadine, made me sick, skin turned gray, muscle weakness, boils under the skin, then xareltosimiliar side effects. My doctor did a MHTFR (methyl deficiency) which is b12 folate or colbanim deficiency and a genetic factor which may have caused my mother's heart attack at 50. Google this look at family history request, no demand the blood work up, insurance pays also homocysteine levels, important, if high may me causing you problems. Second Google nattokinase and serrapeptase, natural blood t...
Updated in XareltoI am an active 41 yr old male who has been on coumadin for 9 years and now believe it lowers my mood and confidence. I originally believed my changes in mood and confidence were associated with my open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve and the life changes and trauma one would expect after such an event at 32 yrs old. But recently i was allowed to come off coumadin for a little over a week to have a back surgery. My INR was normal after 3 days giving me 5 days with my normal blood again. My confidence about the surgery, myself and outlook on life and my business changed enough for me to notice reminding me of how i felt before open heart surgery. Solid is the word i would use. The morning after returning to take coumadin again, a couple days after back surgery, i woke up with a f...
hello I was wondering if anyone had gotten more clots while on xarelto? ## Yes...PE . Terrible drug..Shocking chest pain and awful fatigue . ## Hi Katie, Based on my research, several webpages do actually list warnings stating how Xarelto can cause serious blood clots around the spinal cord that could occur under a variety of certain circumstances (too many to list here). However, a law firm by the name of Schmidt Law has also confirmed the link between Xarelto and potentially life threatening blood clots. They appear to be actively taking cases for such claims. So if you or a loved one has experienced this issue (god forbid), something like that may be worth looking into as well. The idea of a blood thinner backfiring is pretty scary to say the least! I sincerely hope that all is well ...
