I have been on this medication for over a year and I am getting sores all over my face, arms, legs, private areas and chest. They are red and looks like they have blood in them. They itch, so they are slow to heal. I also get headaches, tingling in ears and weight gain. Am I losing my mind or is it this medicine and what can be done about it. ## Hello, Sue! How are you? Yes, you are correct, those can be side effects of Xarelto, though the sores are not common. As listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness and joint pain. You should inform your doctor, as you may need to switch to a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have had test afther test and seen five doctors but no one is blaming the blood thinner Xeralta. I was on warifin before b...

I have had 2 strokes (2007 & 2014) & a DVT (2013). I am on Xarelto 20mg now for about 17 months. For the last several months I have been noticeably more fatigued, tired, weak... I have pain in my muscles & joints. Would these symptoms be less if I was on a lower dose of Xarelto, perhaps the 10mg? I am way healthier overall now than I was when these incidents occurred. ## Hello, Laurin! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you're experiencing. Yes, those can be side effects of Xarelto, as listed by the FDA, you may also experience headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. A lower dosage may reduce them, but with your medical history, please don't change your dosage, without your doctor's approval. Is there anything else I can help with?

I take 3mg of warfarin and 4 mg on 3 days also I have started tramadol 100mg twice daily. Will the tramadol cause a problem with taking warfarin too? I also take slow release 5 HTP 200 g daily. I have fibromyalgia and depression and feel better whilst on tramadol not sure about 5HTP. Would be grateful of your opinion. Thank you. ## Hello, Goldie! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but it;s always best to double check such information to be sure. The FDA classifies Tramadol as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Warfarin is a blood thinner and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding...

My wife has just fallen pregnant (4 weeks) and has been on Rivaroxaban as she was diagnosed with PE. This wasn't planned but we are now in a real dilemma as to what to do next. The drug is apparently toxic and it's not known what the effects could have on the baby. From what I've found, evaluations have been done on rats and there is talk of the drug affecting fetal development but not much else. It doesn't give percentages, if it can be reversed etc. Really desperate for any advice whatsoever, if anyone has any info on anyone that has given birth whilst using the drug through early stages of pregnancy, that would be huge information BUT I realize there is a low chance of receiving this info. Again, any research, or info would be appreciated. Thanks. ## Has she informed ...

Hi , I know this sounds silly but I've taken 60 mg of xarelto today in error . I was taking 2x 15 mg per day and then got reduced to 1x 20 mg going forward . Should I be worried , I won't obviously take any tomorrow ? ## Hello, Dave! How are you? That can increase your risk of experiencing an adverse bleeding event, so you should contact your doctor and let them know. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and easy bruising. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on rivaroxaban for a year now. Was told that I have to take it for life due to extent of dvt in my left leg. I have had no side effects at all. Until the last few weeks where I have had a lot of nausea and headaches. I feel like it is unrelated to the meds . My wife thinks it is. I am now wondering if it is the meds causing g it. I just find it weird for side affects to take a year to manifest. ## Hello, Scott! How are you? Those can be side effects of this medication, along with dizziness, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Our bodies do change with time, so it's always possible to suddenly start experiencing side effects, though it's not that common. However, it would be best to check with your doctor to be sure. After being on this med for 7 years, I was told by my cardiologist to stop taking it. Now I am having various and odd ailments and wonder if they could be related to stopping this medication? ## Hello, Flea! How are you? Yes, they could be related to stopping it. Your body gets used to anything you ingest regularly for a long period of time and abruptly stopping can cause mild withdrawal symptoms. Some that are listed for this medication, by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, elevated heart rate, elevated blood pressure and body aches/pains. Are you on any other medications?

I suffer from Afib and have had six procedures in the last year from blood clots in my legs. I was on warfarin for awhile and during one leg surgery my INR was 4.8 and I still developed more clots in both legs. I've had six procedures to clean out these clots. I was also on metoprolol and diltazem both for Afib and finally one cardiologist took me off the metoprolol and it seemed to have stopped the clots. I have grafts, stents in both legs and an artificial artery in my right leg. I've had hemorrhoids for awhile but never bled for over a day or two when constipated. I was also on Plavix but have stopped due to hemorrhoidal bleeding. My doctor didn't object. After drinking alcohol about one week ago I started bleeding from the rectum. It was heavy for awhile even dripping in...

I take 2 ELIQUIS tablets a day. One @ breakfast @ one @ 8 p.m. I would like to know if I can take Instaflex Advanced without any problems. ## Hello, Sally! How are you? You should check with your doctor, before taking it. It may not be safe for you to do so, since one of the ingredients in this supplement is Resveratrol, which may also cause blood thinning. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Eliquis as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Is there anything else I can help with?

Does anyone here take Fish Oil or Vitamin E? My holistic doctor prescribes it, she keeps pushing me to take the fish oil. I will go see her next week, but I've read it can thin your blood so is it safe to take with Xarelto? Also I take Arginine but I showed it to 2 of my doctors and they ok'd it. It's really good for the heart, but it does say on the box don't take it if you've had a heart attack. My chiro is really pushing me to remain on the Fish Oil but it does thin out the blood and so is it safe to continue it? I know my VA doctor a while back put me on fish oil so maybe I should get with her and see what she thinks now that I'm taking Xarelto. ## Hello, Bri! How are you? Yes, fish oil is great for the heart and cardiovascular system and can be taken as long...

Have been on rivaroxaban for 6 months after clots in lung diagnosed was told I would be on it for life. Then clot dispersed after further tests by another hospital thank goodness, so I have come off it. I have had worsening leg pain when in bed that would wake me sometimes 6 times a night. Felt pain deep in calf and developed a varicose vein which swelled only when in bed at night. Was tested for dvt none found. Came off rivaroxaban and ever since stopping it a week ago I have had no pain in leg at night no swelling of vein in leg and only get up on average once during the night. I am convinced it was rivaroxaban causing this problem. ## Hello, Wendy! How are you? It's hard to say for sure, but it is possible that it was due to the medication. I am on warfarin and just crack from Mexico. Can I take this? ## My findings state that there are potentially unsafe interactions between Warfarin and Sulfamethoxazole. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "Using warfarin together with sulfamethoxazole may increase the risk of bleeding, especially if you are elderly or have kidney or liver impairment. You may need more frequent monitoring of your prothrombin time or INR by your doctor to safely use both medications. Call your doctor promptly if you experience any unusual bleeding or bruising, swelling, vomiting, blood in your urine or stools, headache, dizziness, or weakness during treatment with these medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and her...

I missed my morning meds and took them late this afternoon . pradaza and cardizen. I am due a night dose at 8 so do I just skip night dose and start regular rigimen in the morning? ## Hello, Jackie! How are you? Unless your doctor instructs otherwise, the FDA directs that you take the missed dose of a medication as soon as you remember, unless it's close to the time for the next dose, then you should skip it and just return to your regular dosing schedule. I took a 3 month course of Xarelto to clear a DVT following an extended hospital visit. I took the last dose 3 days ago. I have had severe lower back ache and a headache since stopping. Is this coincidence or cold it be related? I was in the hospital with severe anemia and am still fighting to get my iron back up. Blood count is in normal range after transfusions. ## Hello, Lee! How are you? No, those are normal withdrawal effects, many people have reported such symptoms, after finishing their course of treatment. As listed by the FDA, you may also experience diarrhea and dizziness. If they continue past a few weeks, or get worse, you should consult your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?

My memory is not too good now. Will taking eliquis cause more memory loss? ## Hello, Miyzie! How are you? No, I don't see it listed among the side effects reported by the FDA, they usually include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Nor have any other uses reported it, so far. Can anyone that's on it chime in?
