In the morning I also take 20 mg Escitalopram, 100 mg Losartan, 180 mg Diltiazem. At 8pm I also take 10 mg Amlodipine and the 5 mg Eliquis. {Editor's note: The thread title has been manually revised and filed under Eliquis} ## Thank you for the additional details Judi. Updated in WarfarinI'm trying to determine if weight gain is possible with Xarelto? I have been taking this for about 2 years now (20 mg). I just can't seem to loose weight and have even been to Weight Watchers. I continue to work on my weight but just curious if this pill is having an effect? I am 71 years old with A-Fib. Had an ablation 1 year ago as of next month. ## It isn't a listed side effect reported by the FDA. They typically include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. However, other users have reported weight gain while on it that did not resolve, until they stopped taking it, or switched medications. If it's that much of a concern for you, you may want to speak to your doctor about trying a different medication. Is there anything else I can...
I was diagnosed with a blood clot in my leg and it busted and went to my lungs (pe) in February. So I've been on this medicine ever since. But recently I lost my job and insurance, and meds are $440 dollars for a one month supply. I haven't taken any meds for 3 or 4 days, and I'm starting to feel some of the effects of i guess my blood thickening. What should I do before it's too late? ## I would suggest contacting your doctor, there are cheaper alternatives that can be prescribed, such as Warfarin. While it does require more frequent INR monitoring the price for it is much lower in most areas of the U.S. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased risk of bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with? How ar...
I'm on Xarelto and I've been taking it for 8 months. I just found out I'm 7 weeks pregnant, so I've stopped taking my pills for a week now until i get the inj's. Meanwhile, did I harm my unborn by taking this medication? ## At this point, the FDA lists this information as being unknown, though so far, no toxicity has been seen. They do, however, warn that a miscarriage, or taking it during labor could result in dangerous levels of bleeding. Which shot are they switching you to? Are you on any other medications? Congratulations on the pregnancy!
My husband was put on Eliquis after he was diagnosed as having a-fib. The DR stopped his blood pressure medication and 81mg aspirin. He went through cardio aversion to get his heart back in rhythm...as been in rhythm since Dec. However, he is suffering from the tiredness, shortness of breath, gout attacks, ankle swelling and abdominal swelling that I have been reading about. He also has a very productive cough that has been going on since late December. He has been on numerous antibiotics, cough syrups, allergy pills, and even something for reflux. After reading some of these posts about Eliquis, could it be responsible for his chronic coughing? ## Hello, Ann! How are you and your husband doing? Yes, according to FDA reports it has been known to cause coughing as a side effects. It may ...
Back in December 2013 I had a bad heart attack and had to be put on Xarelto because I had blood clots in the lower region of the heart. The left side of my back gets pains when I stand up for an hour or more and I can't get my shopping done because the pain gets bad and weakens my back and legs. Can this drug be what is causing this? I also get a nasty taste in my mouth when I am in bed and my urine is discolored and has a foul odor. There is no blood anywhere. ## Yes, it could be due to the Xarelto. The FDA does list it as being known to cause such side effects, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, and headache. Has there been any change? You might need to speak to your doctor about trying a different medication. This might not be the right one for you. Are you on any other m...
Can I use Ecospirin 75 indtead of Clopilet 75 ? ## Hello, Souvic! How are you? They are not the same and don't work in the same ways, so you should take whichever one your doctor has told you to take. Clopilet contains the active ingredient Clopidogrel, which is used to prevent blood clotting. Learn more Clopidogrel details here. And Ecosprin contains Aspirin, which works as a blood thinner. Learn more Aspirin details here. Which one was prescribed? ## I had brain stroke and my doctor prescribed clopilet. Can I use for years? What side effects can I expect?
I have been taking Sintrom (10 yrs) as I have 12 stents around my heart. I still have angina. I recently went to A&E after a fall, and the duty doctor looked at my medications Plavix/Aspirin/Sintrom, and seemed horrified that I take ALL of these. My blood is so thin, that if I even scratch my arm casually, it takes up to an hour to stop, my sheets are a mess each morning. Is the above combination TOO MUCH thinning? I darent even eat a single piece of green veg!!! ## Hi Olivo. Aspirin and Sintrom are not a very good combination as i heard the doctor saying. You should research possible drug interactions between these two pills. Best regards.
Pease identify a round pinkish/orange pill, scored on one side with W5 imprinted, and the other side imprinted with IG or 1G. ## Hi Jeffrey, I located a round orange pill with W over 5 on one side and IG on the back (each letter divided by a score line). I accidentally took my meds twice this morning. It was 5 mg eliquis, 125 mg digoxin and 40 mg sotalol. My question is should I skip meds tonight? ## The biggest concern here is actually the Eliquis, since it could cause an increased risk of bleeding/blood thinning. How are you doing? Did you experience any adverse side effects? Any time this happens you should go to your nearest ER or consult your nearest urgent care to be safe.
Last night I tripped over a leather footstool and took a good fall. I'm on 20 mg of Xeralto for DVT & PE. This afternoon I started getting dizzy. Not terribly, but still a little worrisome. What should I do? ## It would be best to have it checked out buy your doctor, or someone at the ER/Urgent Care. There is a risk that you have suffered a concussion, or are experience bleeding, which could be risky, according FDA reports. How are you feeling, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications?
Ive been taking Xarelto for 2 months for PE and DVT behind my right calve. Last week ive been diagnosed with Shingles behind lower back and inner thigh. I believe they are related. Xaretto as a blood thinner reduces vitamin k which is needed to suppress the dormant virus from coming out of the body If you have a rash and its burning with lower back pain, you also might have shingles ***Shingles is very very painful ## That is not a side effect listed in the FDA reports, but it has been known to cause a skin rash, skin blisters, allergic dermatitis, and hives. Is this the only medication you are currently taking? Who told you it was shingles, was it a general practitioner, or a specialist? ## Er doctor than my primary dr. My body was in a low immune state with PE and the opportunist vira...

' /.;.tr ## There is one manufactured by Accord Healthcare that contains 300mgs(base) of Clopidogrel, which is a generic for Plavix, though they describe it as being pink, but colors are a matter of perception. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and eas...
Even with good insurance, my out of pocket cost for a month of 5 mg Eliquis is $155. Does anyone know of any ways to assist with this cost? ## Call the pharmaceutical company and explain your situation I got many months of free meds this way also ask your doctor they have samples with a free 30-day Supply attached ## Canada Drugs is usually priced lower. Don't let Big Pharma scare you, they are tightly regulated. My wife had to be hospitalized for confusion and hearing voices etc while on xarelto and has since switched to eliquis and is much better, but I think that xarelto did some damage and she is still experiencing some problems but not as severe. ## What problems is she still experiencing? Such events aren't listed by the FDA, or NIH as being side effects of Xarelto. It's typical ones usually include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, easy bruising, and anxiety. Is this the only medication she is on? Has she ever been diagnosed with depression or another mental issue?
I had 2 stents put in 6 months ago and my doctor told me i can stop taking it, but I'm nervous. ## It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions. The FDA lists there are being some possible risks, such as blood thickening and clotting, but it would seem your doctor thinks you are stable enough to be able to stop it, without any serious issues. Are you on any other medications? Do you have any other medical conditions?
I took 15 mg for 21 days. Then doc wrote script for 6 mos of 15 mg again. I thought it was supposed to go up to 20 mg once a day. Does anyone ever take just 15 mg for the six month following the inital dosage? ## Hello, Judy! How are you? Actually, it depends what you're taking it to treat, in some cases the patient should remain on the 15mg dosage, but in others, they should be raised to 20mgs. What condition are you being treated for? The FDA lists the typical side effects of Xarelto as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. ## I am on Xarelto 15mgs for three weeks. I recently tapered to 20mgs once a day. My leg continues to swell during the day but not while I sleep nor early morning when I wake up. My concern is the swelling...
I have woken in the morning with a black eye - this has happened twice within a month. I have been on Eliquis for 6 months. Could this be caused by Eliquis? ## Yes, the FDA does list odd and irregular bruising as being among the possible side effects. You may be jerking around, or moving, whilst asleep and causing yourself to experience a black eye. However, it is always a good idea to check with your doctor to be safe and make sure that there is nothing else going on that could be putting you in danger. Are you on any other medications?
I'm off xarelto 3 days I feel like there is a Charlie horse in the leg my blood clot was in has anyone have this getting off xarelto. I'm calling dr as soon as they open has anyone else experienced this I was just told to take 81 mg of aspirin I see some people take other things like a vitamin E and a is that important ## That can be normal, when you stop taking it, but it is always a good idea to consult your doctor to be sure. Other withdrawal effects may include fever, chills, diarrhea, and rebound blood clots. The vitamins, such as e and a, are not actually proven to help. How are you feeling, now? Have you consulted your doctor, yet? Has there been any change?
