I started on this drug about 3 months ago for mild high blood pressure and after about a month and half I noticed I was loosing a lot of my hair when I washed it and then noticed much more in my brush. Then others started noticing hair on my clothes all the time. I've read all I can find about this drug and do not find that to be one of the side effects. Has anyone else heard of this problem with this drug? ## Atenolol is not that of a problem, I had been using that for the last 13 years, so far I did not had any major side effect other than a humming sound in the ear, but Chlortalidone is not known to me yet. Any comment out there. ## I take the 100/25, and have been noticing the same problems. Have not really gave it a lot of thought, until now. Would like to know for sure if this...

WHAT IS IT FOR? AFTER EFFECTS? DURATION TO TAKE THIS? ## Need more info on drugs molecules to understand drug intake and avoid side effects if any can be avoided ## Prolomet-XL contains the active ingredient Metoprolol, which is a beta blocker that is commonly used to treat high blood pressure, cardiac conditions and migraines. As to how long of a time period that you have to be on it, that really depends on why you are taking it. If you are using it to help control high blood pressure and/or a cardiac condition, then it is highly likely that you will be on this or a similar mediation for the rest of your life to keep those conditions under control. As to the side effects and avoiding them, not everyone experiences them and if you do, there is really no known way to avoid the side effec...

my losartan 100mg tablets from my last refill now are green in color and smaller in size. i spoke with my kelsey pharmacy and was told they are using a different mfg aurobindo. I looked them up and they are located somewhere in India. my losartan was coming from mfg northstar. how can i tell if the ingredience in the new green pills are the same as the white larger pills? Do I need to check with my doctor about this change? I have not had any problem with the old white pills. ## Hello, Maggie! How are you? Rest assured that if you are receiving them from a licensed U.S. pharmacy, they have passed the same approval process as the other ones that you were getting. Losartan is a generic medication and once a drug is available for generic manufacture, it is usually manufactured by several d...

Valsartan/HCTZ 320-25mg tab LUP ## Hello, Lazarus! How are you? That's an abbreviation for the manufacturer, which in this case is Lupin. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, hypotension and dehydration. Is there anything else I can help with? ## The bottle says LUP, yet the pill says LU. Thoughts?

Been in many different types of blood pressure medication and it seems that only Azor works now. The issue is the outrageous cost! Pretty sad that I'm going to be retiring soon and am worried about the cost and the fact thus is not covered by insurance is there any suitable alternative available. How can I wean myself off this costly medicine ## Alicia, I'm so sorry to hear of your situation. Sadly it's all to common for many.Have you contacted the manufactor for the possibility they have a med. cost reduction program or a patient assistance dept. based on financial need? medical supervision is essential when undertaking a hypertension taper and or cessation program. Please do not attempt to do this on your own. ## Hello, Alicia! Is Ranbaxy Rx atenolol gluten free ## is the medication atenolol gluten free ## It is not listed on any of the gluten free websites as being safe and gluten free, so while I am not sure about what all ingredients would be considered to be derived from gluten, or have gluten in them, I would have to suggest that it might be safest for you to stick with one from a manufacturer that is known to be gluten free. There is an Atenolol on the market made by Novapharm that is listed as being completely gluten free, so you should check to see if your pharmacy can get that one in for you. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Is atenolol gluten free? My pharmacy cannot get Novapharm Atenolol!

Hi, I am a 62 year old male and have been diagnosed with essential hypertension (180/70). My physician has advised telma h in the morning and met xl 25 mg in the afternoon. For how long should I take the medicine? Will it be forever or the condition can improve over time and I can discontinue using these medicines? ## There is no cure for hypertension, it is a condition that can only be controlled, according NIH reports, so you should take the medications for as long as your doctor instructs you to do so. The typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. However, you may be able to get off of them some day, because proper diet and exercise can also help control blood pressure. Lots of fruits and veggies, low salt...

i was discharged from hospital 2 days for hypertension, physician put me on ridag 12,5 mg and amloc 10mg and hypotone 250mg, only use the all three togethere once a day, hypotone, three times a day, feeling very drowzy, is the pills too much for me, im only hypertensive and 35 years old. ## According to NIH reports, drowsiness and fatigue can be normal side effects of this medication, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. It is also normal to feel a but awful, for awhile, due to being used to your body running at a higher blood pressure level and heart rate, so your body has to get used to the changes. However, if it becomes too severe, you should consult your doctor. Has there been any change, yet? ## Thank you very much Verwon, ive noticed im be...

I don't have high blood pressure but had a fast heart beat (165). I was given bilocor. Is this right? My blood pressure was on the low side. ## Yes, it can help lower your heart rate, according to the NIH. Its other typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Are you on any other medications? How low is your blood pressure?

Does bilocor 5 lower your heart rate ## Yes, it can do so, since it's basic intent is to lessen the work load on the heart to improve heart function and lower blood pressure. The NIH lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. How low has it been?

The pharmacist gave me azor 1mg to give to the dogs during festive season. Is it the right stuff for dogs? When it comes to fireworks etc, the dogs are scared of the loud bang from crackers and also thunderstorms. I am talking about big breed dogs. ## Hi, Azor 1mg is a VERY low dose. Are you sure its only 1mg? Cos the lowest dize i know of is 25mg. If its 1mg, i would consider it safe. Hope its effective though at such a low dose. Im not a vet, but i got cancer and so too my beloved dog. Once when i was at the vet he asked me on which chemotherapy drug i was using, because he might know it. He said that "you wont believe how similar dog and human medications are. Many chemo drugs are the same, the dosages just differ" Ive been giving my dog some doxytil antibiotics and metformin...

My wife has been prescribed Olmesartan, but the Doctor gave telmestran. Is there any major change in the medicine as the generic is the same perhaps. ## They are in the same medication class, but they are two different medications, Telma contains Telmisartan, rather than Olemsartan. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. She should be able to smoothly switch from one to the other. Did the doctor mention any reason for the change?

ABOVE MEDICINE WHAT IMPACT ON HEART AND BP. telmisartan 40mg and Amlodipine 5mg impact. its cost. ## These medications are used to help lower blood pressure and reduce stress on the heart, so it doesn't have to work so hard. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. I am sorry, however, that I do not have prices to quite you. Have you checked locally to ask how much they cost?

I had high bp. I am taking now Telma h 40 & prezopress xl 2.5 one tablet each daily. BP is under control, but is the combination ok? ## You should take them, if your doctor has instructed you to do so. Multiple medications are often prescribed, if someone's blood pressure is very high, to try to bring it down as fast and as safely as possible. When I first had congestive heart failure, I as on quite a few medications, until my blood pressure was lowered to better levels. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

The description basically said it all. If I knew how to submit a photo I would. I just want to know what this pill is, but can't find it online yet. It's something i found in my boyfriends stuff inside of a big zip lock bag. I know he has a few prescriptions but generally they remain in the bottle they come in. I am not sure if this is one of the prescribed pills or not. We have no intimate life. My main concern is if he is getting some kind of pill like for libido or something because then I know why we have no intimacy. Must be because there is someone else he would rather have intercourse with. I'm just sick of being faithful to a man (a good man which is nice but still a selfish bastard) who neglects my needs as far as intercourse goes. Why should I continue getting olde...

I have a temp of 96.6. I'm also weak and have no stamina. I also fave A-Fib which I know affects stamina but now it's worse. ## Are you on any medications? If so, what do you take? Some of them can cause such symptoms as side effects, according to the FDA. I've experienced it myself with several cardiac/blood pressure medications. Is there a chance that you may be dehydrated? These could also be symptoms of it, according to AMA reports. ## My meds go back several years. I doubled my lasix per docs recommendation and helped stamina. My low temp apparently from defective thermometer. Sorry about that.

Could you please let me know what the difference is between Losakind-H and Losakind 50 mg? ## Hello, Mohammed! How are you? Losakind is listed as containing the active ingredient Losartan, while Losakind H contains both Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, since some people need additional lowering of their blood pressure. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.

I'm a female, age 81, and for a few days my blood pressure got high (200/120). What can I do about this immediately? ## Those numbers can be very dangerous, you could suffer a heart attack or stroke, according to the NIH. You need to see a doctor immediately, so they can evaluate you and prescribe an appropriate medication, if they feel one, or more, are necessary. Are you currently taking any medications regularly? How often has your blood pressure been this high? Do you have any diagnosed medical conditions?
