The pharmacist gave me azor 1mg to give to the dogs during festive season. Is it the right stuff for dogs? When it comes to fireworks etc, the dogs are scared of the loud bang from crackers and also thunderstorms. I am talking about big breed dogs.

Hi,
Azor 1mg is a VERY low dose. Are you sure its only 1mg? Cos the lowest dize i know of is 25mg.
If its 1mg, i would consider it safe. Hope its effective though at such a low dose.
Im not a vet, but i got cancer and so too my beloved dog. Once when i was at the vet he asked me on which chemotherapy drug i was using, because he might know it. He said that "you wont believe how similar dog and human medications are. Many chemo drugs are the same, the dosages just differ"
Ive been giving my dog some doxytil antibiotics and metformin to help combat the cancer - both of which are meds for humans.
This is my 10 cents. Thought its worth giving since you got no replies yet and the fireworks are about to start in the East already.
Something else you can consider giving your dog is a human antihistamine that makes you sleep. They use that when flying pets around on aeroplanes, its called phenegran.
