I have heard not to take bactrim with lisinopril. Is this true? ## Hello Sally, You are absolutely right! Lisinopril has been reported to have a negative interraction with trimethoprim (Bactrim). These medications used together may increase the potassium levels in your blood which in turn can develop into Hyperkalemia. In severe cases this can lead to kidney failure, muscle pralysis, irregular heart rhythm and cardiac arrest. You are more likely to develop hyperkalemia if you are elderly, dehydrated, have a kidney disease, diabetes or if you are receiving Bactrim for long periods of time. Reportedly it is important that you maintain adequate fluid intake during the time...
I have recently been diagnosed with Chronic Paroxysmal Hemicrania i am currently taking both difen and verapamil. Does anybody know whether certain foods can trigger these headaches? ## No, research hasn't shown any specific causes or triggers associated with these headaches. Some people who get migraines, sometimes have certain food triggers, but this has never been shown with these. My suggestion would be to just pay attention to what you eat and drink and see for yourself if something triggers them. Such triggers are usually unique to the person, anyway. Where I get headaches from beer, you may not and while chocolate doesn't bother me, it may trigger them in you. CPH is usually treated with the NSAIDs, like the Dicolfenac in the Difen and the calcium channel blockers, Verapa...

Can I use the tablet for the time being to control my BP? ## I am 61 years old. I am using Eritel -40 mg (Telmisartan) for the last 6 years, due my BP. Further no BP noticed, but I am still using the medicine. My doctor told me dont stop. My doubt is whether there is any chance of side effect due to this medication for a long time? I started bystolic (5mg, now up to 10) a couple weeks ago. I got a test result of a high potassium level, which I know requires attention. I took supplements before all this started, but stopped immediately when I was put on meds. My dr says bystolic would not have caused this, more likely it was the supplements. My kidney panel was good. Has anyone had a potassium issue with bystolic? ## Bystolic contains the active ingredient Nebivolol, which is a beta blocker that is used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. And though it is rare, it has happened with this class of medications, because they can inhibit potassium from entering your cells. It could even have been a combination of the medication and the supplements you were taking. Are there any other questions o...
I have suffered from high BP since 2006. Until 6 months ago too bendroflumazide and candesartan in low doses. I was advised to stop the bendroflumazide and continue with candesartan. This did not control BP and the dose was increased and I could not tolerate it at 16 mg due to serious joint pains. The dose was halved and in addition I was given 10 mg of lercandipine. I suffered swelling in my joints and legs and ultimately could not tolerate it. For a short while after I remain on 8 mg of candesartan. The swelling in my left leg did not alleviate and following an MRI scan I was found to have Sonk in my left leg .. ( blood marrow swelling ) with no medical reason and yet prior to tablets I was very physically fit and well with no injury. I have now had knee surgery to alleviate the sympt...

Hello. I was wondering if Coreg could affect my O2 levels? It just seemed that a few weeks after starting this medication my O2 level dropped to 85. I am now on O2 24/7, but all tests and imagery come back good, never smoke and my doctors do not agree on a diagnosis, maybe COPD but won't confirm. So I thought I would see if there was any connection since I passed all my tests including a stress test just before taking this medication for afib. Thanks. ## Whether or not it's listed as a side effect, I think because you noticed a change in O2 levels shortly after starting Coreg, that Coreg is likely to blame. Have you experienced any difficulty breathing since being on Coreg? According to NIH.gov, the following symptoms are listed as side effects of Coreg (Carvedilol): -rapid brea...
