Took one Losartan 50mg this morning at 9 am. Forgot about it and took another one at 7pm. Should I worry? ## How are you feeling now? Make sure you don't have any of the symptoms listed below. At least it was 10 hours between doses instead of taking both at the same time. Here's an excerpt from Medline Plus: Losartan may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: - leg, knee, or back pain - muscle cramps or weakness - diarrhea - heartburn - decreased sensitivity to touch Some side effects can be serious. If you experience any of these symptoms or those listed in the SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS section, call your doctor immediately: - swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs - hoarseness - diffic...

I think that I missed my dose today at 1:30, but I'm not sure? Will I be ok to wait until tomorrow to take it? Also should I wait the entire 24 hours or just take it in the morning? ## Hello, Chad! How are you? What did you end up doing? It is always best to check with your doctor regarding what you should do in such a situation, however, in some instances, it is safer to take an extra dose, rather than risk skipping one. Since missing a dose could cause dangerous rebound elevations to your heart rate and blood pressure, which could lead to heat attack, or stroke, according to the AMA. However, doubling up just once, usually only results in your experiencing more side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination, as listed by the FDA. Now, of course, there a...

I enjoy a drink nightly. Will this prevent the pill from doing its job with my blood pressure? (mixed drinks or amaretto). ## Generally, you are warned not to take most medications with alcohol due to the possibility of it aggravating the side effects, such as the nausea and dizziness, because that can result in one drink actually affecting you like you had 2 and so on. Learn more Prinzide details here. With this combination, however, there are some additional concerns, if you are limiting yourself to just one or two drinks, it can actually cause some lowering of your blood pressure, as well, so you have to be careful to watch for signs of that, such as feeling severely dizzy, especially when moving or standing up. The Hydrochlorothiazide is also a diuretic that removes excess fluid fro...

I had been taking 2 tablets of Lisinopril 20 + 12.5 mg HCTZ for almost 20 years. I'm now 60 years old and since my BP is under control, I asked my doctor to take me off the HCTZ. It's been only a week now and I have noticed swelling in my feet and ankles along with a reddish rash. I previously had no side effects from the HCTZ other than dry mouth and skin and frequent urination. Does anyone know if gradually decreasing the amount of HCTZ rather than just stopping abruptly would be a better alternative or if I'm just destined to take HCTZ for the rest of my life? ## Your doctor just had you stop this medication abruptly? If so, then yes, that's likely what's causing the problem, because it has been known to cause rebound effects, especially if you were taking it for ...

I had used lisinopril/hct for 20 years. It started off with one pill per day, but ten years ago doc prescribed 2 pills per day. It combatted my hypertension. As it turned out, I also had hepatitis C for about 30 years. When I finally was cured of HEP C, six months ago, the hypertension went away and I had some night-time incidents when I woke up with severe shortness of breath. So, I stopped taking the Lisinopril six weeks ago. My blood pressure has been unusually low - like around 100/68 and I don't know how to raise it. I am still having shortness of breath and have been having a severe allergic/itchy skin reaction that is unbearable. Doctor doesn't believe I have withdrawal effects from lisinopril. She has not prescribed anything to increase my blood pressure. Lots of doc vis...

Hello, A family member of mine has a prescription of 10mg lisinopril once a day. Recently the pharmacy accidentally gave her a pack of 20mg tablets that she has been taking (thinking they were 10mg) for around 2 weeks. So her doseage has been 10mg for around a year, then accidentally switched to 20mg for 2 weeks. No side effects have been noticed. Is it ok for her to just go back to 10mg now she has realised? Is it ok to take instaflex if u have heart problems, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and thyriod problems? ## Instaflex is an over the counter product that is claimed to help with joint health, so as nothing more than a dietary supplement, it hasn't actually been tested for possible interactions with medications and health conditions. However, since I am also a hypertension and cardiac patient, I can tell you that one of the ingredients in it is Black Pepper and it can cause blood pressure elevations in some people. It can really depend on the person, so I'd suggest checking with your doctor, or pharmacist, before taking it. From what I've found, any of the various pepper extracts can cause blood pressure elevations in some people, so you have to be careful about taking th...

How long does it usually take for your system to get used to the medication? ## Amlodipine and Benazapril are both medications commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. It can take approximately 4 to 6 weeks for your body to adjust to any medication, which is also about the same length of time they will take to reach their full efficacy levels in your body. Have you been experiencing side effects? How long have you been taking them? ## Burning lips, itching, & dry soreness are some of the symptoms I've experienced. ## Ive been taking Amlodipine_benazepril 5-20MG for about 12 days and Im still getting headaches and feel emotional

i've been taking metoprolol for several years as partial treatment for high blood pressure. through diet and exercise, i've lowered my BP to the point my doctor says drop the metoprolol. i did, 3 days ago, and i'm soooo tired, dizzy, irritable, and my vision is blurred. is this withdrawal? how long will it last? i remember starting this medication was terrible to get used to. it appears that stopping it is just as bad. ## I am experiencing the same thing and I am tapering off of the metoprolol. If any one can tell me where to get some over the counter I would be very grateful thank you. ## There are actually quite a few people asking about this product here in the forum. From what I could gather, if it is still available, you do have to go to Germany to obtain it (and may even have to get a prescription for it there). And after having read more details, other users are suggesting that it could even be banned by now. Below is a response from another user in the forums who states that it is currently banned: "If this helps, X112 was taken off the market. It was banned from several countries because, as that one person correctly said, it was a form of speed. That's why it was illegal for millitary to take. My PCP prescribed Hydralazine to treat my BP after taking amlodipine, metoprolol, and carvidelol - not working for me. I was hoping that this hydralazine will work for me, 10mg bid 2 only. Now in 15 days taking this med, I always have shortness of breath, feeling that my lungs are super congested. Barely breathe and all in the morning, my anxiety became so aggressive, feeling of constantly sad. But I was also being told that it is just a matter of time that my body will adjust or adapt this meds. But it's so hard waking up in the morning breathless, so when I stopped taking these meds, all bad symptoms are gone. Please help, I'm worried what if my BP will spike. I was put on 25 mg. of chlortalidone several months ago. I lost a lot of weight and felt terrible. I contacted my dr. and they had me cut it in half. I continued to not feel well and started having irregular heartbeat, tingling and numbness, muscle cramps. My dr. sent me to a cardiologist who ran a stress test and echocardiogram. It showed irregular heart rythmns but he said he thought I was ok. I had read about low potassium while on diuretics so he asked if I'd had a blood test (which I hadn't nor was it ever suggested). My potassium came back below normal so the cardiologist & fam dr. were all worried and told me to increase my potassium and get retested in a week. I did and my results came back normal. But I still feel awful--irregular heartbeat, tingling, stomach issues...

I took 100mg Losartan Potassium at 3pm but I think I may have taken one at 3 am also. I work shift work and I don't remember taking the 3 am dose. Will I have a problem taking a dose 12 hours apart? ## Hi Craig, From what I've researched, standard adult dosing for Losartan is considered to be anywhere from 25mg-100mg taken daily in one or two divided doses. However, the prescribing packet doesn't go on to mention any specific time intervals. Having said that, it seems to me like you're supposed to wait a full 24 hours after your last 100mg dose before taking anymore... So if you aren't sure about the time frame in which you took your last dose then I can't say there's a right or wrong answer... You may just have to be your own best judge through self monitori...

Dear all Medical Practitioners in this Forum. I am having mild Hypertension with a blood pressure reading of 130/90 at the most. I had been prescribed Atenolol 50mg/day and Nifidepine 3x daily. The pill is orange and round and on one side it has a crescent or half moon the other side has the number 850 ## Hi Abe, Based on the description provided, I located your round orange pill to be a 1mg Guanfacine hydrochloride extended-release tablet, marketed as a treatment for high blood pressure and ADHD. For verification, this particular pill is manufactured by Actavis (who is also known for their half moon logo). According to nih.gov Guanfacine lowers blood pressure by decreasing your heart rate and relaxing blood vessels, allowing blood to travel more easily throughout the body. This medication also affects certain parts of the brain that relate to one's attention and impulse. This aspect is where it has gained light as a treatment for ADHD. I hope this helps! ## Hi Gabe! Has anyone used CBD broad spectrum (non thc) gummies for anxiety? I am having A LOT of anxiety after weaning off of bisoprolol (beta blocker) 9 weeks ago. I've never suffered from anxiety my whole life, so I know it's from this med. I was given a PRN script of xanax (low dose, .25 mg) from my doctor to take until the anxiety passes from this BB withdrawal. But the problem is the anxiety, for some reason, has ramped up the last 2 weeks. In the last 13 days, I've needed to take 1 xanax a day for 10 of 13 of those days. Looking for an alternative to xanax until this anxiety passes, I decided to try CBD gummies. I have only been on them for a day, but it didn't really help at all, and I ended up taking a xanax at the end of the night. My question is: do the non-thc CBD gummi...
