My doctor is switching me from 100mg 2x a day labaetlol to 40mg lisinopril 1x a day how do the doses differ or are they comparable? I'm really nervous about switching I'm worried it'll drop my BP to low I've never had to take meds til I had my son and developed high BP from pre eclampsia I'm 21 my BP reads 150-130 top number and 90-100 bottom number ## What is the reason he gave for switching you? Labetalol is a great medication and also very effective, so if it has been controlling your blood pressure, switching away from it actually doesn't make sense. Learn more Labetalol details here. They aren't in the same drug class, though they are used for the same things, so you really can't compare the dosages. Learn more Lisinopril details here. ## The labetlo...

I OFUND A SMALL PINK ROUND PILL PRINTED 20 ON ONE SIDE THEN ON THE OTHER SIDE IT HAS A R ## The round pink pill imprinted with "R 20" is identified as Hydrochlorothiazide (12.5 mg). The pill is smaller white and barrell shaped. On one side it has 10 | P , that is a line separating the 10 and P and nothing on the other side. Any info would be appreciated. ## I found a pill with the same imprint of P over 10 with a line separating the two, but it is orange and round; identified as Propranolol hydrochloride 10 mg. I know it's not barrel shaped, but perhaps they could be a similar drug or even from the same manufacturer since they have a similar imprint... Manufacturer: Heritage Pharmaceuticals, Inc. National Drug Code (NDC): 23155-0110 There's really no other information online (at least through the first few pages of google) showing any supporting evidence that a white pill like this even exists. I WAS ON LISINOPRIL 10 MG DAILY, THE DOCTOR SWITCHED TO METOPROLOL 25 MG. IS THERE ANY BENIFIT? ## They are two different types of medications, though they are used to treat the same health issues. What is the name for Lisinopril/Hydrochlorothiaz TAB 12.5 in Mexico? ## Wow! That's a tough one, because it is Mexico and their medication regulation is virtually non-existent. If you are visiting and looking for a needed medication, your best bet is to just ask for via these generic names, Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide, then just specify that you're looking for a combination medication. Learn more Zestoretic details here. In most cases, from what I've found, the Spanish names used there for the generic medications are very similar, so you likely won't have a problem getting help finding it from a druggist. For instance, Ampicillin there is Ampicilina. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you very much, I appreciate this information

Dr started me on this and after two days my blood pressure has not gone down, can I double the dose ## No, you definitely should not double the dosage on your own. While Metoprolol does successfully help lower blood pressure for many people, it doesn't work immediately. It tends to lower it at a gradual, steady rate and it may take a full 4 to 6 weeks, before it reaches its full effectiveness level in your body and you know whether or not it is working for you. Learn more Metoprolol details here. 2 days is far too short of a time period to expect to see big results. If you feel that your blood pressure is at dangerous levels, then please contact your doctor. Are there any other questions?

My 88 yr. old dad has always had low blood pressure. Since a recent apendectomy, his ankles now swell, but blood pressure remains low at 90/58. Is there a drug that will only decrease his fluid retention? ## Fluid retention is largely due to one's dietary habits, such as having too much sodium or acidic foods. To help decrease fluid retention it may be wise to eat more alkaline foods, including: fresh fruits and vegetables, lemon water, and plant-based foods in general. I'd also suggest monitoring his fat intake, as this is what hinders digestion if you have too much (health experts usually recommend eating no more than 30g a day, but this varies from person to person). Exercise is also very important for maintaining normal blood pressure and preventing fluid retention. If he is...

I have been presccribed 160 mg per day for tremors and a 125 heart rate at rest. i have weened off of taking 90 mg of xanax a month to taking these and they really have work. Although they work very well and I am now to a point of taking xanax only "as needed", which isn't often, I recently got a refill on the propranolol, it says er on the end when last month it said "sa". Should I be concerned? How long, (if I have been without the propranolol for over a week between prescriptions, will I expect to wait for them to work as well as they did before.
