Propranolol 160 Mg

I have been presccribed 160 mg per day for tremors and a 125 heart rate at rest. i have weened off of taking 90 mg of xanax a month to taking these and they really have work. Although they work very well and I am now to a point of taking xanax only "as needed", which isn't often, I recently got a refill on the propranolol, it says er on the end when last month it said "sa". Should I be concerned? How long, (if I have been without the propranolol for over a week between prescriptions, will I expect to wait for them to work as well as they did before. (I didn't feel like I needed a xanax at all, which was almost a miracle to me after five years of 90 a month)..... Please??

Hi Wendy,

Based on my research, ER stands for "extended release" and SA stands for "sustained release". Extended release means the pill is formulated so that it will be released slowly over time, which in turn, could make it more effective. How long does it normally take for you to feel if the Propranolol working?
