I have fundus photographs done annually as I have a retinal naevus. One year after starting Prexium Plus for Hypertension I have developed macular drusen typical of Age Related Macular Degeneration with visual loss. Has this been reported. ## Hello, Janine! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem you've experienced. This medication is listed as containing the active ingredient Perindopril and no, that is not a side effect reported by the FDA. It can cause some visual disturbances, such as blurred vision, but that's it for ocular. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, increased urination and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

It seems to get better as I move but at night cant sleep due to pain. This pain is worst in the morning and my wrists is also affected struggelling and painfull to start the day. I also had surgery for maligma carcinoma on my right shoulder a month ago and now it is starting to pain and burn. Now the muscle pains is it due to the medication or to the operation? ## Hello, Sonia! How are you? My guess would be that you're right and it's most likely due to the medication. This is listed as containing Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, it can very easily cause dehydration, which may be the reason for these symptoms. How much fluid do you take in daily? The FDA lists ...

I am on Azor for constant anxiety en Cilift for depression. It seems not to help me anymore. Is my system after 10 years so used to it that I should rather change my medication. ## Hello, Johann! How are you? Yes, it is possible that could be causing your problem. You may need a dosage adjustment or to switch to new medications. However, please be careful not to just stop these medications cold turkey, as the FDA warns that doing so with the Azor creates the risk of seizures, as well as rebound depression and anxiety. If you have to switch medications, follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am taking adco bisocor 5mg for high blood pressure. I now have palpitations and my doctor has given me pur-bloka for it. I would like to know if these two drugs are compatible? ## Hello, Morag! How are you? No, these are both in the same drug family and treat the same things, so only one should be taken. Taking them together could cause a life threatening lowering of your blood pressure and heart rate, as listed by the FDA. Are you sure he didn't mean for you to replace it with the new prescription?

Skin rashes and hives are listed as the more serious side effects. I took Metoprolol on and off for palpitations when needed. The last few weeks I took 1/2 tab at 12.5mg only as a preventative since palpitations seemed to increase due to stress. Skin rashes and eczema increased and became miserable. I researched and thought back to the general time these symptoms developed and they were 4 years or so ago around the time I began using M. It has been about 2 weeks. The itching and redness have lessened a bit, but I wonder if anyone else can share symptoms and hope that they will go away. ## Typically, side effects are transient and go away in time, once your body gets used to a medication. However, since you're only taking this occasionally, that's most likely not going to happen ...

I am presently using prexim 4mg for blood pressure, and experiencing a slight throat irritation causing me to cough now and again. is this a normal side effect/ and if so why / and what is causing this to happen/ ## Hello, Greg! How are you? Yes, that can be a side effect of many blood pressure/cardiac medications. As listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, headache, hypotension and increased urination. However, the cough doesn't usually go away as most other side effects usually do, so you should speak to your doctor about trying a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with?

Please everybody that reads this, my experience with Azor and zopax was a nightmare.I am a director of a company and stress plays a huge part of my lifestyle. I started to get very anxious something not normal for me and I started to take Azor and zopax. You take more and more and yes its very addictive. After a year or so your emotions are all over the show and in my case it was so bad I became suicidal and cried like a baby. Just not me at all. To get off is very painful and the withdrawn symptoms are bad... ## Hello, Werner! How are you doing, now? I am very sorry about what you've been through, that's horrible. I'd like to add a note regarding the Zopax, which contains the benzodiazepine Alprazolam, because not only does it carry the risk of being habit forming and causi...

I've been taking 2.5MG a day for the past 2 years with no side effects. In the last 10 week's, I've developed a cough? Is this late onset usual? ## Hello, Martin! How are you? Our bodies do change with time, so yes, it's always possible to suddenly develop a new side effect. As listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. However, once the cough starts, it doesn't usually go away, so you'll most likely need to switch to a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi...my boyfriend has been prescribed coveram 5/5 since using it he's been getting headache everyday, feeling dizzy and sleepy. Should he keep taking it? He's performance at work has been affected by this. How long does the medication wears off after taking it? ## Hello, Maria! How are you and your boyfriend? How long has he been taking the medication? Those can be typical side effects of it, as listed by the FDA, he may also experience increased urination and hypotension. Typically, side effects are transient and will improve, then go away entirely, after about 4 to 5 weeks, once his body gets used to the medication. However, if they do not go away, or if they worsen, he should consult his doctor as he may need to try a different medication.

I've been taking amlodipine 10 mg for over 2 years with no real issues and was recently switched to a smaller white tablet made by Cipla and I've been experiencing side effects like headaches, frequent urination and ED. I never had these with the previous manufacturer. Is is possible that the formulation is different enough to cause these issues? At the ER for an unrelated injury last night they gave me a different brand because I was due and my BP was up and some of the effects went away, so it led to me think about this..... ## Hello, Mike! How are you? There can be slight fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient from one generic to another and, since you've had the advent of new side effects, there's a chance that this new one actually has a little more Aml...

I am on a prescription of Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg for high blood pressure. When I refilled my last prescription I noticed that some of the pills were different than the others. I know the ones that are round peach colored with 25 imprinted on them are the right ones. The other pills were smaller, round and pink with only a P on imprinted on one side and nothing else on the other side. I took the bottle into the pharmacy today and the pharmacist doesn't know what this smaller pill is. They took the whole bottle of them away from me and crossed the label with an "X" saying I must have mixed something else with the regular drug. I told them I certainly did not and they say they didn't do it. Anyway, I'm trying to find out what the small pink pill with the P imprint is...

I took 125 mg of meteripol for my blood pressure ## Hello, Hercules! How are you? Yes, you can overdose if you take too much of any medication. When it's a blood pressure/cardiac medication like this one, it could cause your blood pressure and heart rate to go too low, which may cause dizziness, fainting and possibly death, as listed by the FDA and NIH. How much are you supposed to take? You should be aware that for this to help your blood pressure, you need to take it regularly for a month, taking extra when you have higher blood pressure numbers won't actually do anything to help.

Hi. I was put on Bystolic for blood pressure in June. two months into taking the medication I had such severe side effects. I had constant muscle spasms, muscle aches and pain that would come and go through my body, I could not focus, I had a burning sensation in my face with tingling through my body. It caused me to get depressed and develop bad anxiety. I weaned myself from 10mg to 2.5 mg and went to the doctor and told him and he switched me to 50mg Losartan. He switched it in August and then the doctor place me on Losartan. I felt good for the first few weeks. Almost 2 and a half months in and I am getting severe body aches that come and go, my anxiety is back and worse, severe sinus congestions and ear ringing and a congestion. So, as of Wednesday the doctor took me off this medica...

I need valsartan 320/hct and metformin that are gluten free. Just cannot seem to find a manufacturer that is not gluten free. Pleae help! ## Hello, Nancy! How are you? According to a website I found that lists gluten free medications, the Metformin manufactured by Teva is gluten free. However, I am not finding anything listed for the Valsartan/HCTZ, so you may need to ask your doctor about prescribing an alternative. The FDA lists the typical side effects for Metformin as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and hypoglycemia. The typical side effects for Valsartan/HCTZ may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and dehydration. Do you have celiac disease?

I on larsarton and started itching very bad all over is this a side effect. ## Hello, Candy! How are you? Sorry about the itching! Do you also have a rash/hives or are you just itchy? If it's the latter, then it could be due to the effect that the Losartan has on your circulation, since it basically eases the workload on the heart to lower your blood pressure and treat cardiac conditions. If it's severe and continues, you may need to ask about trying a different medication. Other side effects may include headache, cough and low blood pressure. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Started Losartan in mid-June 2014. Within days I started itching...first around my lower back, then my forearms and the backs of my thighs on the second day. Doctors didn't have a clue, and I ...
