Can bactrim ds 800 160 tab elevate blood pressure for someone who has hypertension but taking meds for that. ## Hi Paula, Based on my research, there have actually been several reports from other patients stating that Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim was the alleged cause of their hypertension. However it appears the manufacturer has failed to list hypertension in their drug monograph as a potential side effect. If you are experiencing such symptoms, my suggestion would be to keep track of and monitor your blood pressure before and after each dose. This way you can show your doctor the effect it's been having with proof over an extended or short period of time. I hope this helps!

my Dr prescribed Bactrim DS for 3 days to treat UTI is this duration long enough? ## Hello, Pollo! How are you? It really depends on the severity of the infection, so that might be appropriate, but only your doctor can decide. This antibiotic may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. How long have you had the infection? Are you prone to getting them frequently? Usually, the preferred antibiotic to treat UTIs is Nitrofurantoin.

I have a really bad toothache that I think is abscessed. Will Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) help treat the infection? ## Can Bactrim be used for a Tooth Infection? While Bactrim is effective against a range of bacterial infections, it is not typically the first-line antibiotic for treating tooth infections, which are often caused by anaerobic bacteria found in the oral cavity. These infections usually respond better to antibiotics that are specifically effective against the types of bacteria found in dental abscesses, such as penicillin, amoxicillin, or clindamycin, which are more traditionally prescribed by dentists. However, in cases where a patient cannot tolerate these first-line antibiotics or if the infection is caused by a bacteria that is known to be susceptible to...

I know i need to take it ,i just hate anything unnatural in my body And if so how long would it take to have an allergic reaction? thanks ## Hello, Sarah! How are you? No, whether or not you've taken it before should have no bearing on such side effects. The only issue would be if you had an allergic reaction to it in the past, because those tend to get worse with repeated exposure. You might be thinking of a...

My mother was given nitro furmac as result of several UTI infections year after year. Thinking the UTI was worsening and meds weren't working just yet, we didn't realize what was happening. She actually became non-responsive and had a stroke. All due to reaction of nitro furmac. Now on bactrim daily as a preventive antibiotic for infections. Not a concern in over a year. ## Hi George, I'm very sorry to hear about your mother's terrible experience with Nitrofurantoin. Although both medications have a long list of undesirable side effects, there's really no way of knowing ahead of time how you might react to one or the other until its too late. However I'm glad to hear that you were still able to pinpoint the problem none the less. May I ask how long she's been...

Ip 272. Is a generic for Bactrim DS. Treats all symptoms listed from other comments. The one thing everyone forgot to mention is that it also treats moderate to severe acne and cystic acne. Amazing how my skin cleared up since I have been using the drug. Remember to take In morning and night, preferably with food if you have a sensitive stomach, and plenty of water. I noticed after taking the drug for awhile that I did have joint pain, but other than that it works amazing.. ## @Fiat, It may help with acne as an off-label use, but the only problem I see that could stem from long term use is that, without having an actual infection to treat, this could create antibiotic resistance to the point where if you did have an infection it may end up becoming much more difficult to eradicate than ...

I was prescribed bactrim or moderate acne and have been on the generic form sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 once daily for 5-6 weeks and have seen little to no results. Anyone know time line for this stuff to start working? I've been on keflax, ampicillin with success but I recall those working faster. No side effects but no success either, any advice?? ## From what I've found when researching this, results should start to be seen at about 6 weeks of use. If you haven't seen any results yet, then it just may not be the right antibiotic to help you. Have you ever tried Doxycycline? You can learn more Doxycycline details here. I'd suggest asking your doctor about it, if you haven't. Many people use it very successfully for acne. ## Well my 15yr old daugher got prescribe...

I have a sinus infection and want to know if these are still safe to take ## Hello, Ang673! How are you? They don't become dangerous, once expired, but they do begin to lose effectiveness, so they may not properly eradicate an infection, that coupled with the fact that you may not have enough to complete a full course of treatment creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Thus, it would be best to see your doctor for a new prescription. Side effects to this medication may include nausea, dizziness, non-alelrgic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No and thank u for replying...i did have enough, it was a full script and I did end up taking them because I needed something at the moment for my infection.
