I took gabapentin, 600mg at bedtime for 4 months as a sleep aid and relief of unmanageable migraines. During treatment, the following was noted ataxia confusion amnesia going from completely awake to completely asleep with no warning or drowsiness. odd behavior during the night of which I have no memory After stopping the drug, I had extremely vivid dreams, sleep paralysis, auditory hallucinations, mania and hypersensitivity. No side effects were life threatening, but the hallucinations were very real and extremely disturbing. I've been off the drug for 10 days now and have had no more problems. ## Those side effects sound very unpleasant to say the least. Glad to hear that they went away after you discontinued the medication. Sadly enough, I don't think pharmaceutical companies...

Dear Sirs, I will express my medical story what happened to me since Nov. 1998 when I had my fist car accident at 5.30 am going to work when two young ones send me off the 2 lane road and scratch my car all the way across. Was a phone nearby and I did call 911 and told them what happened. The same time the two young ones did called 911 further up and the police came from their side first and after to me. They did ask me to take me to the hospital when the ambulatory service came and everybody else but I did refuse because I had no insurance that time. I did got a Doctor to help me with massages for six weeks and after that I did returned back to work. A week later as I remember I did pic-up two ladies from the airport and I did called the office that I am on my way in . The office was 2...

Hi I am on Epitec 200mg I wake up feeing nauseous and gained weight. I have a rash which is persistent. Please advise. My other medication includes rivertrol Cyprimil renetec and Alcera I have been on Epitec for the past two months should I continue or get weaned off the Epitec ## Have you been experiencing these side effects ever since you started taking Epitec or did they begin with Rivertrol, Cyprimil, Renetec, and Alcera? From what I could gather, the active ingredient found in Epitec (Lamotrigine), can cause a hypersensitivity reaction primarily occurring as a rash. I found a brief mention of it here: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1201641/ I would personally suggest weening off of the Epitec, if the rash doesn't go away. Is your doctor aware of the side effects you've been...

I was taking Oxetol 300mg twice a day for 7 years. Then Oxetol 450mg twice a day for the last 3 years. Within this timeframe I've noticed a steady loss of memory & concentration, as well as restlessness & weakness. Should I taper off & stop treatment? ## I think deciding on whether or not you're going to continue using this medication, really comes down to determining if the benefits of taking the medication outweigh the side effects you've been experiencing. From my perspective it sounds like the side effects have become too bothersome. Depending on the length of time you've been taking Oxetol (Oxcarbazepine), it may be best to taper, since this drug can cause withdrawal symptoms. I hope this helps!

Helps w/ depression a epilpsy ## Hi Jacqueline, Thanks for sharing this info on phenytoin. Would you say that it is pretty effective for depression in comparison to other forms of treatment? Phenytoin is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants; and It works by decreasing abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Information I've read on phenytoin, states that it is a commonly used antiepileptic that is sometimes used in the treatment of depression. -Although I have yet to read patient reviews on how successful it has been in treating depression. If you're able to shed any light on this based on personal experience, that would be a great benefit to those who are considering its use!

If you do go up to 600mm it may well ease your pain BUT in my case it produced amnesia which can be very disturbing if your not warned. Also the higher dose is only for a while and then 300mm will be as effective for pain.Be warned the come down from 600 to 300 should be done slowly. The side effects are similar to coming up on a pill with no benefit only hot flushes, confusion and disorientation ## Did you intend this as a response to someone else's post? If so, in the future, rather than making a completely new post, you can simply use the reply box that is directly under their post. If you do that, then they will be notified of your response. My sister delivered a baby boy 15 days ago by c-section. A week later she had seizures for the first time in her life. Her doctor prescribed her Eptoin 100 mg twice day. She was advised to continue breastfeeding her baby. Is it ok to breast feed after taking this tablet?? Will it affect her baby in any way?? ## Eptoin contains the active ingredient Phenytoin. Information I've gathered on this topic states the following: "Because of the low levels of phenytoin in breastmilk, amounts ingested by the infant are small and usually cause no difficulties in breastfed infants when used alone except for rare idiosyncratic reactions. Combination therapy with sedating anticonvulsants may result in infant sedation or withdrawal reactions." Additional precautions note: "Phenytoin can...

if i take 1 pill how long will it take to get out of my system if i have restless or mania effects ## Gabapentin's (Neurontin) elimination half-life is 5 to 7 hours. From what I've heard, most medical experts agree that it can take roughly 5 half lives for a drug to be completely out of your system. For Gabapentin, this can mean that it may remain in your system for up to or around 35 hours after your last dose, which is relatively short compared to many other drugs. Gabapentin's most common side effects in adult patients include dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, weight gain, and peripheral edema (swelling of extremities); these mainly occur at higher doses, in the elderly. Other side effects such as insomnia, restlessness, agitation, anxiety, disorientation, confusion, light s...

What appetite suppresant is safe to use with Cymgen, Welbutrin, Topamax and Epilum? I have Bipolar Disorder. My weight gain is really a problem. ## Have you consulted your doctor? With your medical history and the medications that you're on, it would be remiss of anyone not familiar with your medical file to try and suggest any medication for you to use, as it could be very dangerous. However, your doctor should be able to help you discover what are the best and safest weight loss solutions for you.

Hi. I'm bi-polar 2. Have bee on Epitec 200 mg for 10 months. It has now been increased to 250mg. I've been doing great, the only problem now is the constant headache. Could this be the Epitec? ## I've been on Epitec 300mg for years and have no headache problems. It might effect you differently. Check on the packaging if it could be a side effect. ## @Daleen, These medications can certainly effect each individual differently. To answer your question though, yes, headache is regarded as a severe side effect of Epitec (Lamotrigine), which you should report to your doctor as soon as possible to avoid any worsening of it. For future reference I think the list of side effects in the link below may be of help to you in knowing what you may or may not experience as a result of takin...
