Antipsychotic Overview

Antipsychotics, previously known as neuroleptics and major tranquilizers, are a class of psychotropic medication primarily used to manage psychosis (including delusions, hallucinations, paranoia or disordered thought), principally in schizophrenia but also in a range of other psychotic disorders. They are also the mainstay, together with mood stabilizers, in the treatment of bipolar disorder. Moreover, they are also used as adjuncts in the treatment of treatment-resistant major depressive dis...

On Viibryd, physician wants to add Rexulti

After seeing the many side effects, including with me having CSVD, I want to help myself, but afraid. Most of the side effects, I already have as is. I trust my doctor, in that I know she may feel she just wants me out of my major depression. I don’t know what to do.

My experience with antipsychotic medications

I took a variety of different atypical antipsychotic medications for 2 years (including Invega Sustenna and Olanzapine). I stopped 2 months ago because of the horrendous side effects. I now have chronic fatigue for the rest of my life, accompanied by insomnia and cognitive difficulties. Thank god I stopped when I did because I was starting to get involuntary spasms in my jaw which is called Tardive Dyskinesia. I was hospitalized 2 years ago because of a psychosis and was placed on extended leave of the hospital. I was then diagnosed with schizophrenia. They forced me to be injected monthly with their poison. I was honestly oblivious of the side effects that antipsychotic medications cause, the psychiatrist didn't even inform me or warn me of the catastrophic side effects before pres...

round red pill with z imprint

The pill is round, larger than an asprin, red with Z imprint. What is it? ## May be for schizophrenia. Im trying to find out for sure myself, but have reason to believe thats what its for. ## It actually sounds like you might have found an Acetaminophen tablet, which is a generic for Tylenol, it is used to treat headaches, fever, and body aches. The one that is red with the Z marking is manufactured by Leiner Health Products and they list it as containing 500mgs of Acetaminophen. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Says could be a generic Tylenol. Is there a way to send a pic ## No thanks. That is all I needed to identify the pill. I was going to take it for pain but didn’t know what it was. Thank you

Seroquel vs Zyprexa dosage

Hi, I've been on 300mg Seroquel 4 years. My pharmacy doesn't have any currently but said they have Zyprexa. Does anyone know what Zyprexa mg equals 300mg of Seroquel ? My doctor is out of town till next week, then I will ask him too. Thank you. ## I would confirm with a pharmacist but if I do some math based on the findings in this pubmed article, which states: Doses equivalent to 100 mg/day of chlorpromazine were 2 mg/day for risperidone, 5 mg/day for olanzapine, 75 mg/day for quetiapine, 60 mg/day for ziprasidone, and 7.5 mg/day for aripiprazole. So if we take that at face value and assume that 5 mg/day Olanzapine (Zyprexa) is equivalent to 75 mg/day Queiapine (Seroquel): 5 / 75 ~ 0.0667 Therefore, 300 mg Seroquel * 0.0667 ~ 20 mg Zyprexa. Please note that clinical effects (li...

I found a small round pink pill, imprinted only on one side which a Q and could possible also be O or a 0 i couldnt quite tell, does anyone know what this could be ## If that is the only marking, this is going to be very hard to narrow down. I can't find anything listed in the prescription drug databases that matches this. They usually have additional letters, numbers or a logo. Can you tell us what country it was found in? It may help us to discover what it is. ## Its a quetiapine pill...better known as seroquel which is a second generation or atypical antipsycotic medication. Usually used for scizo or bipolar but can just be used to treat insomnia. ## Do u know what mg or strength it is? ## It is a small white circular pill with a split down the middle. It has AQ on one side of th...

theraquil side effects

theraquil side effects ## I think this poster may have been referring to the prescription medication Seroquel, which contains the active ingredient Quetiapine. It is an atypical antipsychotic that's used to treat conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. This class of medications do tend to cause some side effects that can be problematic, such as sedation, severe drowsiness and weight gain. There are more Seroquel details available here. Although, I will admit when I'm wrong, so if anyone does know of one under the name Theraquil, I'd greatly appreciate your posting and directing me to information on it. Are there any questions or comments? ## There is a medication called theraquil.

Antipsychotic Medication Risks and Suicidal Tendencies

I am going to be forced into taking a medication that causes suicidal side effects. What are the chances of getting suicidal side effects from Atypical or Antipsychotic medication? Has anyone ever gotten them? Unfortunately the other medications won’t help me and my mental health will be in jeopardy. Are there people out there that were able to take medication that had side effects that cause suicidal problems and are ok? I’m scared out of my trees. I won’t take it for this reason. Are there any good mood stabilizing medications for Bipolar Illness other than antipsychotics? Do they work just as well without the suicidal side effects? Thank you. ## Hi my 69 year old mom died because she was forced to take Risperdal injections and she got terrible suicidal ideation from...

Seroquel/Quetiapine Brand

Hey. I take quetiapine (seroquel) for anxiety at 50 mg. I'm just wondering because I recently went to a different pharmacy to fill my prescription if there is a difference between brands. I have always received co-quetiapine, but this pharmacy gave me apo-quetiapine. Does the different brand matter? Will it have any effect? ## No, there shouldn't be a noticeable difference, both manufacturers are required to meet the same strict standards in order for their medications to be available for your doctor to prescribe. The FDA warns that Seroquel may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, gas, stomach pain, and fainting. Ref: Seroquel Information Is there anything else I can help with?
