Hi I'm 26 with 5 kids. After my 3rd in 2010 a mri showed 4 bulging disks and a pinched nerve down my left leg. Was on hydro 5 5 ml a day naproxen a muscle relaxer an physical therapy. I became pregnant so I stopped everything. I lived in az at that time now I'm in tx. The pain has gotten so bad it's hard to care for 5 kids. I don't have insurance and I don't qualify for Medicaid. I can't afford insurance so I have carelink which a payment plan cause I'm poor. Saw my Dr today she won't do a mri unless a xray shows something. She will only give me naproxen and physical therapy. The reason for this is that when medications are available for generic production, there is no standardized shape, size, color or imprint. The US FDA only requires they have a unique imprint so the manufacturer, type of drug and dosage can be identified in case of emergency, but they are, quite literally, made by thousands of different companies, so there are thousands of pills on the market that contain narcotics and they all look different and have different markings. Generally hydrocodone the active narcotic ingredient in vicoden 7.5mg is .6 to .7 the strength of oxycodone. However Vicoden also contains APAP or acetaminophen which when used with the hydrocodone will attack the pain through a different mechanism of action. The other issue is that the 7.5mg vicoden is extended release and will need to be broken down in order to be more equivalent of the instant release you get on a 15 mg Oxycodone. To answer your question it will take 3 to 4 (depending on your tolerance with opiates to equal a 15 mg oxycodone and you will have to put them in a folded up piece of paper, crumble them, and then put them in a small glass of water.
