Hi Theresa,
According to nih.gov, Propranolol is used to treat high blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythms, heart disease, pheochromocytoma, and/or certain types of tremor. It can also be used to prevent chest pain and migraine headaches. However it is not used at all for anxiety... let alone severe cases of it. You may want to sit down and have a talk with the doctor who prescribed this to you if you were falsely led to believe that it was even for anxiety in the first place. Sounds like there could've been some sort of mix up with the prescriptions perhaps...
