Doctor In Richmond Va Who Will Prescribe Opiates For Severe Chronic Pain (Page 6) (Top voted first)

I have moderate to severe Degenerative Disc Disease of Cervical Spine with severe narrowing (stenosis) along with bulging and herniated discs with severe arthritis (osteo) also in cervical spine with boney spurs. I also have Fibromyalgia, Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome ad Chronic Fatigue. My pain management doc has done many different procedures, non giving much relief and no long term relief. She has told me there is nothing more she can do. So, I need a Primary Care Doctor who will take over writing my Morphine and Muscle Relaxer. My current Primary Care doctor said she trusted me totally but could not write RX for opiates. I need help. I will not be able to function without some pain meds. I live in Gen Allen, a Richmond, VA suburb. Please helpp. Thank you.

Hi Kathy, I have degenerated disk disease in my lower back and neck have had 2 bad Rotor Cuff surgeries last year on (R) shoulder 1st one Dr wouldn't listen when I told him I was more pain then before so used it ,first time tore my Bicep muscle, said because I wasn't an athlete was no reason to fix it .Second surgery different doctor said it be hard to fix ,because first dr attached my ROTOR CUFF to scare tissue, so he did the surgery now my whole (R)arm is UNREPAIRABLE and EXTREMELY PAINFUL, PLUS MY LOWER BACK PAIN MAKES MY LEGS NUMB ,TINGLING AND HURT, PLEASE CAN YOU GIVE ME YOUR DOCTOR S NANE AND NUMBER IN RICHMOND Va. Hi, I have scoliosis with 2 curvatures forming my spine into an S. I have Kyphoscoliosis, Degenerative Disc Disease with 2 bulging discs, a difussed disc and a protrussion hitting my spinal root with an annular tear. I also have fibromyalgia and my hips and legs are in constant pain. I also have ADHD, Bipolar II, Social Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety, Depression & a Mood Disorder. I am looking for a Dr that prescribes Subutex tablets for pain. Before I had insurance and could see a pain Dr I tried a few of her 8mg subutex. I do not take a whole one at a time, but it seems to be the only thing that helps me with my pain even when it's severe. I live in Amelia, VA but will travel. Let me know if you know of any pain Dr's that will prescribe subutex for my pain? Thanks

Please tell me the name of your doctor who is giving you the oxycodone as i am very much in serious pain. I am about to blow my brains out to get rid of the pain. The doctor i was seeing dr scrannage went out of business

Hi. I am an incomplete quad, due to car accident. C-5,6,7, and T-1, were crushed. This fact was in diagnosed for 3 mos. I am on dote from chest down, and in some of my fingers. 6 mos prior to this accident, i had second back surgery. L 4 and 5 have been fused. Second back surgery was to remove what tissue. Have lots of back pain. Due to the recent decision by CDC, my PC can no longer write the opiate meds that make life bearable. I need a Dr in Richmond area who will write prescriptions. Inj's. and all that other jazz won't help me. Can anyone send me the name and number of a good Dr? Thanks in advance.

HI, I can see I have a LOT of company regarding the issues of having been on opiates & muscle relaxers to just be almost normal. Bad motor vehicle accident in 1991 has now left me with degenerative disc disease neck & lower back, broke windshield with head, so migraines are another component. Fibromyalgia & Myofascial Pain Syndrome add to the mix. Not only is my PCP no longer going to be able to help me, she his also leaving the practice 9/9/16. They sent us a list of docs, but most if not all are NOT prescribing anything other than PT & inj's. The 1 or 2 on the list are overwhelmed with the exodus from the other docs & are currently not accepting new patients. I have CT's, X-rays, EMG;s to show many of the issues. Would greatly appreciate a name of someone for her to refer me to. Today is our last visit & she is going to try to fill in the documentation that was sadly lacking from my previous doc. He was great at treating my pain, not so good as to jotting down why to preserve the "chain of events" that got me from there to here. I have a name of a practice, but they don't bother talking with patients, it's strictly a doc to doc thing so I still have little idea this will be a help. Also have heart issues, multiple allergies, GYN post surgical issues. Help would be wonderful. Thanks.

Same situation, moved from NJ, my PM doc has me on a comfortable regiment of perc and others for back issues, cancer, chronic pain, fibromyalgia and endometriosis.
I can't find any PM in VA who will continue my treatment.
They all, are going for more holistic approaches that just don't come close to working.
Can anyone recommend a doctor, I'm in Charlottsville but very willing to travel.

Hi Kathy,

If you could help with a Doc in NC, I have records and MRI's and years of empty RX's that show I have 5 bulged discs, 2 have ruptured, AND can provide 3 surgeons that have all said surgery is a gamble, NO GUARANTEES...I will likely be on meds rest of my life--unless they stop working where surgery risk is not outweighing reward. I have NEVER failed a drug panel, nor run out early, but Drs here have given me all shots, tens unit, acupuncture l, etc. Out there with no relief. Now that they can't charge my insurance $1000s of dollars for treatments that don't work, they refuse to keep writing RXs only (the P.A. ACTUALLY told me if they can't make $$ on treatments, it is a waste of their time to only get $85 from my insurance + my $30 copay..they either "waste" that hour (even though my appts NEVER take longer than 15 mins... He said in that same time, they can be making $3000-$6000 on shots, so regular office visits are COSTING THEM $ (notice how they don't care about helping me!?) Meds don't make me "normal" but they dull the pain from a constant 8+ to a manageable 4-5 level I can mentally block out...I WILL NOT SHARE any info you give me.

I have been seeing my pain management doctor for over 3 years. As of yesterday (without warning) his office was shut down. I'm an amputee and also suffer back/hip/leg pain. I've just spent the entire day calling doctors and not 1 will prescribe meds. PLEASE can anybody give me the name of a good doctor that understands chronic pain. I'm desperate! I have a daughter and grandson to take care of and my pain makes it impossible. I've been taking ER Morphine 30mg 4x a day and IR Morphine 15mg 2x a day for break through pain. I showed up for my appointment on Thursday morning, the DEA was there and said they'd be open today but unfortunately they aren't opening back up. He was a great doctor that knew the difference between a chronic pain patient and a junkie. I wish the government would keep its nose out of my Healthcare! !! The doctor shoppers have ruined for people who desperately need help. PLEASE PLEASE If you havea good doctor let me know. I don't mind driving outside of RVA for the right doctor. Thanks in advance

I'm sorry you suffer the way you do but you are very lucky to have a good doctor to handle your meds. My pain mgt. Dr. passed away a few years ago and my family Dr. Can't keep prescribing my oxy 30mg & Dilaudid. I had a horrible experience Driving from Richmond to North Carolina today to see a pain mgt. Dr. That turned out to be a horrible Dr. After being on opiate treatment as there is no cure for all my spine and damaged nerve issues this guy thought I should try physical therapy again! I**** I'm 57 yrs old and spend most of my pain filled life in bed. I spent 3 months in the HELL of Methadone withdrawal as my Dr had me on 270 10 mg pills per month but couldn't prescribe anymore and took me off way too fast. If you know if any Dr that could help I would be forever grateful!! Wishing you the best in your future!

I know Dr Gu at National Spine & pain Center in Glen Allen is very very good for you. I'm in the same boat as you with my spine and am 57 years old. I don't abuse or share my meds - on 30 mg oxycodone & 4 mg dilaudid but the new Federal laws have ruined it for all of us whose general practitioner has been prescribing for us! The only reason Dr. Gu would not take me as a patient is I had been on 10mg Methadone pills for PAIN for 15 years! I just lived through the most horrible withdrawal of my life!! I am holding on until I am 6 months off methadone to try to get Dr Gu to see me again.. I hope this helps you,

Hi, I am looking for a pain management specialist in the Richmond, VA area to prescribe percocet for chronic back pain due to being in 5 mva's, herniated and bulging discs, osteoarthritis in both knees, spinal arthritis, fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis.
