Ive been taking Xarelto for 2 months for PE and DVT behind my right calve. Last week ive been diagnosed with Shingles behind lower back and inner thigh. I believe they are related. Xaretto as a blood thinner reduces vitamin k which is needed to suppress the dormant virus from coming out of the body If you have a rash and its burning with lower back pain, you also might have shingles ***Shingles is very very painful ## That is not a side effect listed in the FDA reports, but it has been known to cause a skin rash, skin blisters, allergic dermatitis, and hives. My wife had to be hospitalized for confusion and hearing voices etc while on xarelto and has since switched to eliquis and is much better, but I think that xarelto did some damage and she is still experiencing some problems but not as severe. ## What problems is she still experiencing? Such events aren't listed by the FDA, or NIH as being side effects of Xarelto. It's typical ones usually include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, easy bruising, and anxiety. Is this the only medication she is on? Has she ever been diagnosed with depression or another mental issue?

I took 15 mg for 21 days. Then doc wrote script for 6 mos of 15 mg again. I thought it was supposed to go up to 20 mg once a day. Does anyone ever take just 15 mg for the six month following the inital dosage? ## Hello, Judy! How are you? I'm off xarelto 3 days I feel like there is a Charlie horse in the leg my blood clot was in has anyone have this getting off xarelto. I'm calling dr as soon as they open has anyone else experienced this I was just told to take 81 mg of aspirin I see some people take other things like a vitamin E and a is that important ## That can be normal, when you stop taking it, but it is always a good idea to consult your doctor to be sure. Other withdrawal effects may include fever, chills, diarrhea, and rebound blood clots. The vitamins, such as e and a, are not actually proven to help. How are you feeling, now? Have you consulted your doctor, yet? Has there been any change?

Doctor wants me to start this twice a day(15mg= 30) due to clots in my leg and after reading all this blogging I am terrified to take it. I cant imagine gaining all my weight back and then some. I just got off Victoza cause I brought my sugar down from losing 20 lbs. That would really be a bummer, Then all these side effects and all the swelling and bloating too man oh man. Hello there. In Feb this year I developed shortness of breath and chest pains for 2 days, before I could travel to the city for medical help (I was on a project in a remote part of Kenya) The doctors said I had what was then diagnosed as Pulmonary Embolism, though no clots were seen after all scans. I was also diagnosed with Acute Pneumonia as well. I was admitted for 8 days and then put on 20mg Xarelto for 6 months. I am due to come off the medication in August. I was back running (5 km every morning) and to the gym from May, and apart from acne on my face I really have had no side effects. I am going oversesa tomorrow and my doctor changed me from Cartia to start today on Xarelto for the duration of my trip and then return to Cartia after a couple of days when i am home.My question is i took the 1st tablet this morning around 8am wIth my breakfast by 10 am i had pain in my left leg at the back probably say calf area. If this is a normal reaction thats fine just checking because of flying tomorrow i had a walk with support stockings and it felt better just still fèel it off and on while I am sitting down looking forward to hearing from you ## Why the switch? What can I take for pain such as headache and/or menstrual cramps? Been on Xarelto for just under a week. ## Hello, Sharon! How are you? You should check with your doctor, before taking anything, but you should be okay to take Tylenol. Just not any of the NSAIDs, such as Advil or Aleve, since they can increase the risk of bleeding. I have been taking xarelto 20mg now for 2 weeks after being on 15mg twice a day for 30 days. I had a dvt blood clot that ended up with two pulmonary embolisms. Just in the past three days I have developed heart palpitations which I have never had. My heart skips a beat about every 3 beats. Not so much in the morning as in the evening. Does this have anything to due with the meds ## It is possible, according to NIH reports. Are you on any other medications, or just this one? Can I take Pamoxab for a chest/cold infection while taking Xarelto (a blood thinner)? The Pamoxab is 2 yrs old. ## Medications do begin to lose efficacy, once expired, so taking them could create the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, thus it would be best to see your doctor and obtain a new supply, if you need to take an antibiotic. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am taking xarelto for 2.5 months now for afib, but not in afib all the time but taking beta blocker & rythm pills. Just went to er yesterday because of bloating or pressure under left rib since being on these pills. had few xrays of ribs , ultra sound & now cat scan, nothing. i know it can be stomach problems but er doctor thinks I don't need all these meds. the Chads score was 1 yesterday. Can I stop my meds for a day its Sunday, before I can reach my doctor on Monday. I think this medication is messing with my heart & making my bloating worst each time I take these.

I've been taking Xarelto and noticed when I switched to 20 mg once a day my bowels changed. Anyone had any bowel changes? ## I'm 41 and on no other medication and just completed a 3 month cycle of anticoagulants for provoked PEs after a long plane flight. Xarelto 15mg twice daily for first month, followed by Xarelto 20mg once daily for 1.5 months followed by Eliquis 5mg twice daily for two weeks. I should have switched from the Xarelto much earlier as I had horrible side effects including severe episodes of weakness (which sent me to ER three times), dizziness, tingling in hands and feet, anxiety, and GI issues m. I have pinpoint red spots like a reaction of some sort. I'm on xarelto for clots found in my lungs n leg from cast n immobility... Can I take benadryl if on xarelto? ## Those could be due to bleeding, which Xarelto has been known to cause, as listed by the FDA, along with nausea, headache and easy bruising. Hi, I'm 25 years old and about a month ago I was diagnosed with DVT due to the usage of Ortho Evra. I'm on 20mg of Xarelto once a day, and I've noticed lots of improvement. At first I was a little dizzy, now the dizziness has gone. But now I'm having back pain and stomach pain. Hello. I was on warfarin for 16 years and for the last 10 days been taking Rivaroxaban (20 mg x 1 daily) ever since I have been having pins & needles sensation down my left arm with a dull ache in my shoulder, been coughing non stop & now my leg is paining as if I have a DVT developing, I am seeing my GP today, anyone experience the coughing?

When will a generic form of Xarelto be on the market, since the name brand is so expensive? ## There will be, but not for several years, due to proprietary drug laws that grant the exclusive name brand patent for a certain period of time. If it is too expensive for you, you could ask your doctor about prescribing a cheaper alternative. I've been taking xarelto since January. I saw a new doctor and he took me off of it. Will I have any side effects from stopping it? ## Hello, Michelle! How are you? Did you experience any adverse events? It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions for starting, or stopping a medication. This one can sometimes cause some rebound blood thickening, or clotting, according to the FDA, but if the doctor felt it safe for you to stop, then you should do as they've advised. Are you on any other medications? Did they doctor replace it with anything else?

Perhaps one month after starting Xarelto, 20mg, I had developed a sore neck and knot in the mid knuckle of my right hand. Within 60 days I have trouble walking, a severe pain right hip, right knee, left foot. and random pains elsewhere. I take it because of Afib, now controlled by pacemaker and an ablation. I have been on Xarelto for 4 years. Now suffering from a testosterone deficiency. I have read that one should not mix warfarin with Primoteston depot but can't find any guidance about Xarelto. Will these two meds have a negative interaction? ## Hey. Is anybody out there? Lol I would sincerely appreciate an answer as the testosterone issue is leaving me tired all the time even though I am in otherwise very good health. Hi all, I have been taking Rivaroxaban (UK name for Xarelto) since November 2015 and I have a number of issues, most of which have been mentioned on here already, like joint pain and fatigue but on thing I don't see anyone else mention is having seriously vivid dreams, to the point where I wake up in a sweat and breathing rapidly with a fast heart rate too. Some dreams are quite violent or a bit gory, like I was being chased by Russians (FFS)! A few nights ago I dreamt I was picking hard skin off my feet, but the whole of the sole of my foot came away leaving raw red flesh!
