Can I stay off the xarelto for 3 days to have the inj's.? I've been told by my haematologist that I have to take xarelto for life now. ## Hello, Patrick! How are you doing? Have you been instructed to stop it for a few days? If so, that is what you should do, for your own safety. Then resume taking it, after the study is done. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising. ## I had to inject innohep into my stomach for 2 days prior to my image guided injections in my neck. I then had to inject a smaller dose of innohep the evening following the procedure bef...
Is it safe to have Botox injections while on Xyralto? Has anyone had any experience with Botox while taking Xyralto? ## Since Xarelto can increase your risk of dangerous bleeding, it is very doubtful if it is safe for you to have such a procedure. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may also include nausea, dizziness, headache, and easy bruising. It would be best to speak to your doctor, because before having procedures like this, you will most likely need to stop taking it for a few days. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I received Botox a couple weeks ago with no problem whatsoever. Not even a needlestick bruise
Hi there, I am a 40 year old woman, recently had cramps in my left calf and shortness of breath. Went to the physician and was hospitalized for blood clots having run from my calf to my lungs. I am on Warfarin, but my doctor recommended Xarelto for the next three months. I have read so many reviews and came across legal cases against the company as there is no antidote. I'm so scared, should I continue with Warfarin then? ## Hello, Yusra! How are you? It's up to you, really. Though some people have had trouble with Xarelto, many have taken it without a problem. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising, so very similar to Warfarin. Can anyone that's taken Xarelto chime in with t...
Does anyone have severe sweating while on xarelto. I have to sit by a fan and turn it in and off every few minutes All day and all night. IS this normal? ## Hello, Shari! How are you? It could be due to the Xarelto, according to the FDA, it has been known to cause fevers, and etc. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and easy bruising. Are you on any other medications? How old are you? ## Hi, am 57 years old. I have been on lovenox shots for 5 years. I just changed to xarelto. I have hot flashes anyway, but they are way out of control now.
I have been taking 20mg of Xarelto for around 1 and a half years after a case of DVT/PE. This is given via a prescription from my GP. I was one of the guinea pigs for this drug and is not sure that my GP is taking me seriously regarding the extreme pain that I experience on a daily basis. The pain and swelling is so bad that I can hardly walk some days. I am convinced that this is due to the Xarelto. My GP is of the opinion that my weight is the culprit and after evaluations at the hospital is saying that I have arthritis. I want to stop this drug but am fearful that they will not. Looking back, all my symptoms started shortly after starting this new wonder drug. Some days I feel so bad that I feel as though I'm dying slowly on this medication. Also I am concerned as no one is monit...
I had a PE two years ago, and was put on Xarelto, once I started my normal everyday things again and felt stronger I would sometimes get light headed and feel what could be anxiety...I stopped taking it for four moths (at a doctors advice) but then they found another clot in my deep vein near the pelvis. So back on it again...I can do lots of strenuous work and feel fine doing aqua fit etc, but sometimes when digging in the garden or just dancing a bit I get light headed and feel a shortness of breath...is this a side effect? or ? ## Those can be side effects of this medication, as reported by the U.S. FDA, along with nausea, headache, and easy bruising. However, given your history of clots, there is also a chance that something else might be going on, so you should inform your doctor a...
Are there any side effects when getting the two together other than a risk of brusing and bleeding? ## I have posted the same question. Did you have botox while taking xyralto? If so how did it go? ## According to the University of Maryland's drug interaction tool, there are no interactions listed between Botox and Xarelto. This is not to say that no interactions exist, but based on their research it seems to me that this is not a concern. However, I would still encourage you to talk with your doctor just to get a second opinion. I'd also imagine that it may be particularly difficult to make proper discernment between each individual drug's possible side effects vs that of an interaction between the two substances...
Hi, i just found out I am pregnant. Should I stop taking Xarelto as I know it is not good for my unborn child or should I continue taking it until I go to the doctors and they will switch me to shots instead of oral meds? ## Hello, Jabri! How are you? Congratulations on the pregnancy. When it comes to pregnancy, you should not make any changes to what you do, or do not take, without your doctor's advice. The FDA says that risk cannot be ruled out with this medication, but taking into consideration the abruptly stopping it could risk both your life, as well as the baby's, please wait, until you consult them, to be safe. Is there anything else I can help with?
I have been on Xeralto for6 months following PE and clots from having a cast on my leg due to a fractured ankle... The cast was promptly taken off obviously with the ankle left to heal with nothing on it..my ankle has still not healed completely and I do have pain in my lower leg and knees some days..how do I know if the pain is from leg muscle not being used for 6 months or the xeralto ## Hello, Maureen! How are you? It is hard to say, it could be due to either, or, perhaps both. The NIH lists both as being possible causes, since Xarelto has been known to cause such issues as a side effect, in some people that take it. However, I have to judge on the pain, so if it is occurring in both legs, rather than just the injured one, then my best guess would be that it is due to the medication....
I have been taking Xarelto for a month now and as soon as i take my pil, my tongue gets pimples and my lips become red. It is quite painful. ## Hello, Adrian! How are you doing? Has there been any change? You might be having an allergic reaction to the medication. Have you consulted your doctor? Have you experienced any swelling or trouble breathing, after taking it? The U.S. FDA lists those as being addition allergic reaction symptoms. Have you ever experienced cold sores? Some medications can cause a flare up of the virus that causes them. ## Yes i have seen my doctor and will be changing my pills next Sunday. I am going to start Eliquis. Just hope that these pills will make the difference as with both Warfarine and Xarelto the side effects were the same. Not sure if they are cold sor...
I took xarelto 20 milligrams and then 3 hours later I was suppose tobtake a xansx and I took another xarelto. What should I do ## Hello, Lucy! How are you? Did you experience any adverse effects? In the future, if such a situation occurs, you should contact your nearest poison control center, or emergency services, and follow their instructions as directed. As reported by the FDA, taking too much of this medication could result in your experiencing more intense side effects, which may include headache, nausea and dizziness. It could also increase the risk of experiencing a dangerous bleeding event. You should also make sure to inform your doctor.
I've noticed i have a blotchy rash on my left calf that has the clot. Is that anyway related to the clots or the Xaralto? I also noticed my voice is hoarse,is that a side effect of the medication? ## Hello, Lori! How are you? The rash is a listed side effect, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and easy bruising. However, hoarseness is not, though it does list dry throat and sore throat, which could be causing it. Either way, just in case your having an allergic reaction, you should have these checked out, to be safe. Is there anything else I can help with?
I have been on Xarelto 20 mg.for about a month now and I have noticed my feet, ankles and lower legs swell worse. I do have Lymph edema in lower legs though so I have to consider that as well. I use a Lymph edema pump to keep the swelling down. But my legs have been more sore and painful since I have been on Xarelto. I was on Warfarin for years for blood clot history in my lower left leg. What do you think about the swelling? ## Hello, Delores! How are you doing? I am very sorry about the health issues that you're experiencing. Yes, as reported by the FDA, Xarelto has been known to cause or worsen edema, in some people that take it. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Have you informed you doctor? You may need to sw...
Hello all..Sept 29,2014 I was put in the hospital for having 2 massive clots in my lungs. I was put on the small dose of Xarelto for 21 days taking them twice a day. Now I just started 2 days ago taking 20mg 1 time a day. I havent had any issues except for a pain that is in my left arm. What makes me a little worried is when I went into the hospital it was cause I was short of breath and a pain in my left arm.. So should I be worried or is it just a side effect? ## Hi Kendra, Sorry to hear about your troubles with those symptoms. Based on my research, "difficulty with breathing or swallowing" as well as "pain in the arm or leg" are both listed as possible side effects from taking Xarelto. Although arm pain itself is reportedly a less common side effect, difficulty breath...

That can happen with medications that cause blood thinning and/or prevent clotting, due to the affect they have on your circulation. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Is there anything else I can help with?

Updated1 week on Xeralto for heart ablation. Was on waif in for 2 months no problems. Having bad headache before bed and waking up to them as well. Take 20mg Xeralto evening meal. This morning was just so frustrated never have headaches, do got on Internet and discovered could be xeralto. It is the only difference in meds. And other thing weird body order. Anyone experienced this? ## Hello, Selah! How are you? Yes, headaches can be a common side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. As to the unusual body odor, that can occur with virtually any medication, due to the way they affect your body chemistry. Is there anything else I can help with?
My father started on Xarelto this past week for Afib and within 2 days gradually started developing bilateral thigh, groin and buttock burning/pain progressing to inability to walk 2 additional days later and severe pain. He is normally a very active person. Has anyone experienced this? ## Hello, Greg! How is your father doing? Has there been any change? The FDA does list those types of symptoms as being possible side effects. He may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. Side effects are typically transient and go away with time, once your body gets used to a medication, however, given the severity, I think his doctor should be informed as this may not be the right medication for him. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi than...
Has Xarelto caused you to have a spinal stroke? ## Hello, Ann! How are you? Xarelto has been known to cause many types of bleeding and strokes in various parts of the body, though spinal is not specifically mentioned, the FDA does warn about possible bleeding issues and stroke in general. Other side effects may include dizziness, headache and nausea. Does you doctor think it caused this to happen to you? ## Yes, he thinks that's a strong possibility. I'm still having diagnostics done to determine the cause of my problem. I go for a second opinion next week with another neurologist. I have been taking Xarelto since last August. This drug has scared me ever since I started it after being diagnosed with Afib. I have an appt with my cardiologist next month and I plan to insist he pu...
My mother is 90 with AF. Last Sept had blood clots removed from rt leg. She has been on Xarelto for 8 months. She has been complaining of both legs feel ice cold. Her legs are warm to touch. She also describes twitching of her legs at night. She also has SOB when walking from one room to another. She describes it as having to catch her breath. Can this be of concern? This has been going on for months. ## Hello, Linda! How are you and your mother? There is a chance that this is due to medications side effects, the FDA does list similar symptoms as being among the possible ones it can cause, along with increased risk of bleeding, headache, nausea and easy bruising. However, given your mother's history, it would be best to have doctor check things out to be on the safe side. Is there a...
