Trouble With Getting A Suboxone Prescrption! (Top voted first)
UpdatedHi All, My name is Amy. I was addicted to oxy's for seven years and then herion for 2 years. I live in Pa. I got on methadone and it really helped. I was on methadone for 7 years. I got off of it in Dec. 2008. I decreased very slowly from 80mgs to one mg. I thought i was gonna be fine, my counselor led me to believe I wouldnt have bad withdrawls, well 2 days after I felt HORRIBLE! I was in bad withdrawl. I bought suboxone from a friend. It worked a miracle! See I dont think a suboxone doctor will see me, first because I am not using oxys or heroin, second I suffer from P.T.S.D, depression, aniexty and severe panic attacks. I see a psyciatrist and thereapist. I am on klonopin, xanax, and effexor. I was told that I can not go to a suboxone doctor because I am on these medications. So I am in a hard spot. Because I do not have a sub. doctor and have trouble finding them I relapsed on herion on May 2, 2009. I actually Over dossed and almost died. I just dont know what to do, I definately do not want to get back on the methadone. Does anyone have any advice or live in Pennsylvania and know the laws about being on suboxone and anxiety meds.? I do not get high from the suboxone, it gives me some energy and lets me be normal, no cravings,I feel great. It just really sucks that I can not get a prescription for suboxone. Does anyone have a similar problem or does anyone know of anything I can do so I can get a prescription for suboxone. I see all this online stuff, but can i trust it? it says u can buy suboxone online. Is this true? Sorry this is so long, I am just confused and worried. I do not want to ever relapse again. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you so much and God Bless! Confused and Worried....
I know it's been a couple wks since ur post but I thought I'd filll ya in on some details... I was on opiates for 8 ys. In the end I was on methadone, dilaudid & oxycontin for pain management... I went thru a medical detox & about 2 days later felt like CRAP so I looked online & found a suboxone dr & ur right, it does work miracles. I've been on 8-2mgs for a little over a year now & I'm also on xanax & adderall for my anxiety & ADHD. The same dr prescribes all my meds & as long as ur careful & don't take any opiates w/ it, you feel totally normal. No cravings or withdrawls & it's nice to just take a couple pills a day rather than the 30 to get that normal feeling & having to wait for them to kick in before you can just get out of bed. After 8 yrs I got tired of having to plan my life around my dr appointments to make sure I'd have enough to get thru.... Idk if you've already gottent the help that you needed but coming from somebody w/ personal experience, the suboxone is a miracle drug & is ok to take w/ the other meds (anything but opiates) as long as you control it properly. And although I was prescribed all my meds, it helps to attend the NA mtgs on a pretty regular basis.... Good luck to you.
Please do everything you can to get on Suboxone and save your life it saved mine and I consider it a miracle medicine. My life is better than ever and I maintain with only one 8mg dose per day. It may not get you high but it eases the pain. Smoke a joint and take Suboxone and the relief is extraordinary. I am a success in life again.
Hello Heather! Thank you for your info... it has helped! Yesterday was three weeks on Sub for myself and I feel better and better each and every day ! There is not a day that goes by that I dont Thank God for directing me to Suboxone. My brother has been on Sub for the last week and half and he is doing wonderful* He had a little scare one night. He had taken ambien on top of the Suboxone and didnt wake up until 2 pm the next day. He was watching his 6 mnth old son. Needless to say it was a bad situation that could of gotten worse, but everything ended up ok. He doesnt take the ambien or valiums anymore, only the xanax when he feels he may need it. My thoughts on him wanting to wean of the xanax after being on the Sub has proven true. He has no desire to take the xanax, and now only takes them ( with lower dosages each week) due to being physically addicted to them. Im so proud of him and my parents cant thank me enough for suggesting it. I tell them to thank God!! :) So thank you so much ! I was praying and praying that there was a Dr. out there that helped with both addictions and fortuneatley, there are. How are you doing on the Sub? Does it get better and better for as time goes on.
Hi Amy,
You mentioned that you were taking
Effexor---plus Xanax and Klonopin. For prescribing benzodiazapines with an antidepressant, your psychiatrist and thousands of others should be slapped until their eyes swell shut. Benzodiazapines (Valium, Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan, etc.) are depressants and literally work against the action of the antidepressants. My own shrink had aa young female patient jump in front of a subway train because he had prescribed Serzone (an old antidepressant) with Ambien; (a sleep medication which also depresses the brain). These MD
pill-pushers prescribe this way because their training always instructs them that benzodiazapines
are indicated for anxiety, EVEN IF THE PATIENT IS DEPRESSED. Well, guess what. They don't know that they are making a d epressed patient even more depressed, even to the point of commiting suicide, which they would not have commited had they been given mo.od stabilizers (Lamictal, Neurontin) instead of benzodiazapines like Klonopin and Xanax. They do these ignorant things BECAUSE THEY HAVE NEVER TRIED THESE MEDICATIONS and thus, have not the remotest idea of what is the real-life subjective effect. No wonder you relapsed because you felt terrible. The psychiatrist sits there with a condescending demeanor and fools the patient into trusting his/her knowledge; a knowledge which he or she obtained from a
self-misinformed, established program of training. I have been a victim of this for the past twenty years.

Hi. I was very heavy doses of narcotics for almost nine years. I do have severe chronic pain. I have been on suboxone foe 2 years now and I cannot believe the difference. Problem is the stigma, I was not abusing heroin but since it is most commonly used for that, you get treated poorly when you in a medical facility. My insurance company did not even want to pay for it. The use o's suboxone for pain is using off label. I was in a major accident recently and almost dies. Was in a coma for 6days and ICU for anther week. The hospital would not allow me take suboxone. I was forced back to morphine and OxyContin until I got back to my regular neurologist. I am back on suboxone and could not be happier. Just wish more people would understand it is not only for heroin addicts,
I will make an attempt to try not to delve too deep into my story since it is quite similar to everyone else's....but I have to say that suboxone is an ABSOLUTE MUST if you are addicted to opiates and WANT to stop the madness. When it was prescribed to me, I was in full-blown withdrawals from approx. 120-240mg oxy a day. The first strip not only made me feel "normal", it allowed me to stop thinking about opiates all the time. Let's face it: addiction is a full-time job.
I got my life back! After about 8 cycles (full boxes of 30) of two 4mg strips/day, I was done. Please note: it was recommended by my doctor to begin my treatment with suboxone and make a solid plan to taper off of it after about a month. It worked like a charm! I am not only drug-free now, but all of the residual addictions and spirit-draining thought processes that come with an opiate addiction went away too (alcohol, isolation, anxiety, and that damned "looking for a fix all the time")
As Mjan said so poignantly, BE HONEST WITH YOUR DOCTOR - BRUTALLY HONEST. Tell them what a piece of s*** you really think you are and let the words gush forth from your heart. You will reap the rewards for the rest of your life!
Take care of yourselves and may The Lord continue to bless you on your road to recovery. It takes time, but you CAN do it!! Visit TurnToHelp and find a doctor today!! :)
Hey do you still need I could definitly help you
amy i am in same situation i cannot find a supplier or md to prescribe them to me although i did have a psychiatrist tell me there was some people prescribing it for this he would not prescribe it to me
Hello there* I called a Dr. for my younger brother. He is on all painkillers, illegally and he is prescribed Xanax and valium for his panick attacks. I asked this particular Dr. if he can be treated with Suboxone if he is on Xanax, and he stated YES. He must be under strict prescription and dosage with the both but he can do it. the Xanax Dosage needs to be low and I dont know what that would be. BUT, what a blessing!!! He goes in to this Dr. the end of this week for the Sub. What I am hoping is that, my younger brother will feel SOOOO much better after being on Sub that he will not have the desire to be taking the xanax, therefore, help him wean off xanax easier than him self medicating himself with street drugs. I have other posts on here about myself. This is day 6 on SUB for me and I have a completely new life! There are absolutely NO worlds to describe the miracle that SUB has been to me. Sooo... I will do some more research about xanax and Sub and let you know. Go to suboxonedirectory.com and it will give you a list of States and Dr.s that can prescribe Sub, along with a lot of good information. Good Luck and God Bless! ~
I have used opiates off and on for the last 40 years up until 3 years ago when I was put on Suboxone after finally being honest with my doctor. REALLY HONEST! I was actually hooked on oxy's for a long time. I was also on Klonopin for 30 years. Over the last year, I weaned off the Klonopin, was put on Neurontin, and my whole life has changed. Found out that benzo's actually made me crave narcotics more. The question is, do you REALLY want to stop using? If you don't, you will eventually go back to the same old life. Suboxone is a miracle drug in my opinion, but you have to find the right doctor for you and be honest with your doc, and start being honest with yourself also. Just needed to share my thoughts.
I've been on Suboxone for 3 years and it has kept me clean. Also from PA. I was prescribed Ativan by my family doctor and I told my Suboxone Dr. and he didn't mind since it was only 1 mg at night. Most insurances will not pay for both though. Also, one thing you need to know is that not any Dr. can prescribe Suboxone, it has to one a Dr. who is certified (they go to I think an 8 hour class on opiate addiction to get certified and licensed to RX Suboxone)
I AGREE...I HAVE BEEN ON SUBOXONE FOR 3 WEEKS NOW..I FOUND A DR. 7 HOURS AWAY..BUT WELL WORTH THE DRIVE FOR THE RELIEF I GET FROM SUBOXONE..I WAS A OPIATE ADDICT FOR 5 YEARS..NOT A DAY WOULD GO BY I WASNT USING OR OBSESSED WITH PILLS...SUXBOXONE HAS GIVEN ME THE FREEDOM FROM THE CRAVINGS OR WITHDRAWLS...MY HUSBAND HAS PAIN MEDS IN THE HOUSE AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT I CAN WALK RIGHT PAST THE BOTTLE AND COULD CARE LESS ABOUT TAKING ANY...THAT WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT SUBOXONE. I AM ON 6 MGS A DAY..STRIPS.. SUBOXONE HAS GIVEN ME THE EDGE I NEEDED TO KICK THOSE DIRTY LITTLE WHITE PILLS THAT CONTROLED ME FOR YEARS..
It is so frustrating.I wake up in pain and have no energy. The pain is so severe sometimes I feel like I got the wind knocked out of me. I wish I could get some help. I have Medicaid but its in NY. Do u think if I went to the er they would help me? Someone told me the drs want u to take 2 subs a day. I was taking a quarter a day. Its not like I'm trying to get high. I just want to feel better.

I could use your help too. I always make sure I have money to buy but never have the money to go to the doc. They require so much at one time and I can't do It. I neeeeeed some help please! I just want my life back and I'm tired of taking out my withdrawls on my kids.....I want to be normal again.
I could use advice as well. I got on Suboxone this past August. I am prescribed 16mg's per day (2 - 8mg strips). My monthly visit is next Tuesday 2/18 and my script is due to be filled that following Saturday 2/22. My problem that my oldest son stole the balance of my script last night. He is 19 and struggles with opiate and pot abuse. I have tried to get him to get help more times than I can count. The 2 times he agreed to get help, it didn't work because he wouldn't stop using. He lives with his mom because he says my rules for living with me are too strict. He stayed here the past 3 nights because the furnace at his mom's went out. Now, I have nothing left until I get my new scipt in 10 or so days. I don't what to do. I've ready withdraw on 16mg per day of suboxone will be absolutely horrible. I'm scared to call my doc about what happened in fear he won't care or may not be willing to help me. Any ideas or suggestions??????? I've thought about hitting the street to look for some, but I'm 43 and wouldn't have a clue where to even start to look....plus, I really do not want to go to jail over something my son did.
Dear Amy, I was a pain pill addict 4 almost 11 years. (Oxy) it was through a pain Dr due 2 many of surgeries and medical problems I have. I got sick and tired one day and went on methadone. I was on 110mg for almost 5 years. I tapered down to 24mg and thought I was going 2 die. The withdrawals were SO bad, I walked into my Dr office in tears. Thank god he had a license 2 prescribe suboxone. Since I had come so far down off the meth, I decided 2 go on suboxone. I also have PTSD and anxiety. I'm on klonopin 4 that. (Same Dr) there r lots of people on subs and anxiety meds. It's not against the law and it's safe as long as u don't abuse them. U need 2 call around and find the right Dr or place that will help u and give u what u need. As far as not having anything in your system, I would take something b 4 going 2 my appt. if u show up negative, they won't put u on subs. That's what I would do. I'm not trying 2 b the bad girl here. And I would take it for 2 days b 4 appt 2 b safe. Let me know how u make out . GOOD LUCK!
Im in cocoa beach as well, i go to advanced pain on wed. Did u ever find any? Im out till then and could use assistance, thx
I have been on suboxone for about 10 years now and they are still working for me so it is a great drug I call it a miracle drug actually. I have had some sub doctors even prescribe benzoes with my suboxone! Really it depends on the doctor some will allow you to take them and some won't. Most of the ones that do want you too get it from a psychiatrist. A lot don't like to mix it with xanax most prefer Valium again it just depends on the doctor? So please just research sub doctors and see what the agree too for your own well- being! Sorry for your relapse and overdose I pray it won't happen again life is too short as it is now! Good luck hope this helped you and may god bless you!!!!!
