Hi all, I wanted to find out why Actifed (as a brand) got banned by the United and states and JNJ stopped producing it and came up with Sudafed. Is there a reason why? Is there a link to the legal suit that was filed against a JnJ. Any information about why JnJ stopped producing it would help. Thanks. ## Irebel is on the right track. I have used products with the combo of Chlorpheniramine Maleate 4 mg, Pseudoephedrine hcl 60 mg, on a spot basis for years. Now I can't find, under any of the brand names, in any of the stores, I have used in the past. They were under control, requiring gov't ID at the Pharmacy counter. Was this not enough? Have they all been banned? Triaminic Cold & Allergy also had same ingredients. ## Their disappearance from pharmacy shelves is due to the restrictions causing severely lowered sales. This caused many companies to switch to using Phenylephrine. Have you tried talking to your doctor about it? I'm looking for a red pill about the size of a Sudafed pill for constipation. I am in pain management and am prescribed oxycodone, lyrica,and elavil. I had a UA last month so I didnt expect one this month so I didn something I have NEVER done before. I tried "meth" or "high speed chicken feed". Plz dont judge me. I know it was stupid and its not something I will ever do again, but I was out of my meds, felt like crap and this was offered to me. You get sudafed for sinus problems and colds like, sinus pressure, sinus headaches and sinus infections. Ive also taken it for my bronchitis. I dont know where you got this info from, but you couldnt be more wrong.. Also Sudafed does not last 12 hours lol the life span of sudafed is from 4 to 6 hrs. I need Sudafed at night when I wake up with a sinus headache. At my age it is EXTREMELY difficult to open the packaging in the middle of the night. I need these pills in a bottle. I have only seen it available in the blister packs, but there is nothing preventing you from opening one, or more ahead of time and putting them in an empty/leftover bottle. It is not illegal to do so, just make sure to keep them out of the reach of any pets, or young children that might be around. A friend gave me them and said they were a decongestant such as Sudafed or Claritin but I am unsure if the product is Tylenol or something else? I am clean but probation says i tested positive for Methamphetamine. what med or combination could have caused it? ## I have heard that sudafed (pseudo ephedrine) can cause false positives for meth. Google it and see what you come up with but I have heard this more times than I can count. I don't have any experience since I never take cold/sinus medication. Too many I am allergic to so I stay away from all of them. Good luck and let me know what you find out. It's crazy, but it seems the more "scientifically correct" these drug screens get the more false positives come back for various drugs. Hi, can sudafed give a positive reading for methamphetamine? I was drug tested and methamphetamine was found. I don't use the drug at all. I am prescribed dexamphetamine for adhd and have been taking sudafed for 2 years when needed for my sinus troubles.

I normally take AleveD sinus&cold for my nasal congestion. I have not taken any since I started taking Amox/K Clav a couple days ago, but now my runny nose is driving me crazy. Hi I am basically looking for the original sudafed as I dont handle the sudafed PE and these are the ones that do the job for me. Also the generic brand equivalent to the sudafed original are also just as good. ## I had the same issue with the newer, version on the shelf. I ended up purchasing the Walgreens generic version of the original Sudafed after finding out the over the counter is not the same as the original. I get the 4hr red pill and it works fine. You have to ask the pharmacist for it as it is no longer on the shelf and you have to sign for it.

I was informed from a co worker that I could not purchase another box of Sudafed 12 hour for another month. New state law. Our local Walgreens informed us that Sudafed or their brand Wal-phed could only be purchased if you had an active prescription acct (not for sudafed- just any active prescription) that had been filled within the previous 30 days. They don't accept our insurance, so we have prescriptions filled over at our local Walmart pharmacy. They wouldn't let us buy Sudafed at all because of this!
