Prolia Side Effects (Page 96) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Sheri- 400 mg once a day. It is also supposed to help with fatigue and muscle cramps.
Anne~mine has gone away. After the 7-8th month I cut it in 1/2. When I went back to my Psychiatrist a few weeks ago he said no stopping all meds until one whole year after Prolia injection. I think mine were different and more than what you are taking tho.
I'm even barred from my dentist until every single solitary side effect from Prolia is totally gone. I will be at the one year mark in not too long so I can wait. Hugs~Pood
Nancy~Please read a post on page 3 by Wise Up Janie. it took Janie awhile to figure out all her problems were and are from Prolia. Thank you~Pood
When I went home I noticed I bought 2 bottles of 250 mg of magnesium, so 3/4 times a week will definitely be good, I take 600 plus D calcium 2 times a day plus multi vitamin. I appreciate your help, you have been so helpful
Ok 2400 calcium and 500 magnesium every other day, thank you for all your help. When was your last shot of prolia
can you tell me how to get to page 3 wise-up janie I can't find it thanks
Poodle, I take my 1200 Cal + D all at once Is that not good? Should I be taking 600 and 600 at different times of the day?
Pood, Are you saying that you take 2400 Cal +D a day? 1200 2X a day
I am so with you and sorry you had so many injuries but you are my mentor and I appreciate all your advice
Pood , how long after you started 2400 mg of calcium and magnesium did you feel better , is magnesium oxide good or it has to be citrate
Sheri~The calcium is only to build bone - we need it all the time, not only with Prolia. I had super bad muscle cramps and charley horses that would wake me in the night so I started on the magnesium. It was just a store brand and I think it was 500mg. Could not keep any food in my body. After my Dr. ran tests and found that Prolia gave me Celiac Disease and I switched to rice flour I got better -- I could keep food in both ends. In the 5th month I felt really well and had cataract surgery in a large city so you know I was feeling pretty darn good. That was one day before my 'so called magic day'. Then on Nov. 17 I went and got a new hip. Life with Prolia was a complete and total living Hell for 4 solid months. I cut my sleeping meds in 1/2 after the surgery and he will not take them away until I am one whole year post injection. Hair is starting to get some better. It's been 10-1/2 months and just in the last week it seems to be coming out less. I have been so very, very careful of it. In the beginning my heart was very erratic and I had edema and a pain like gout in my toe nails, it would change nails every day. Got checked out well by a Cardiologist and my Doc just said my toe nails must be very painful. Really helpful guy. Also got a diarrhea bug and I didn't get well within the mandated 10 days so he was sending me to specialists. Didn't even bother to think that my immune system was not working well. Finally, it killed the bug before I had to go to the specialists. This is why I continually say they do not understand Prolia. We are supposed to be like cookie cutters and all the same. We are not. We are all humans and everyone of us is different. Many of us get the exact same problems. Why did I get well by the 6th month and Anne here is still suffering??? What is different about her than with me? These are the questions we need answered and we don't get them answered. btw, Celiac Disease left when Prolia did so I'm back to 'normal'. Pood
Victoria - EXACTLY. And, it agrees with my body as when I am tested I come in just a tiny bit high. Absolutely nothing to worry about at all. Have your blood tested after you do it because you may not be like I am. We are all unique but that's what works well for me. Be well~Pood
Skitty~you just wrote the reason you probably have osteoporosis or osteopenia. Early menopause. When we stop making estrogen, our bones start to lose density. You can treat this condition yourself with the correct supplements and walking or swimming in warm water. Drs are pushing Prolia really hard but it is not for the first time user of any of the osteoporosis drugs. It is supposed to be the drug of last resort - when all of the others have failed so keep that in your mind when you see your Rheumatologist. They are the Docs that really deal heavily in the biologics. Know when to say NO. I'd rather do xxxx first, second and third. If you do have a bone scan and it says you are really low, then go for Boniva (it doesn't last that long so if it doesn't agree with you, you're not stuck). You can go for Evista too if you have not had blood clots, etc. Check out all osteoporosis drugs on your pc and you decide which one you may be happy with IF YOU EVEN NEED ONE. That would be like putting the cart before the horse. You may want to mention that fact to certain people. Be well~Pood
Nancy, up above where our posts are there is a tan line -- kind of the color we write the replies in the white boxes. You will notice on the left hand side of that tan line there are arrows. The arrows indicate which page you are on, Right now we are on a very large number so click on the arrow that goes back a page (to your right hand) and read it and then back again. Janie had had about 3 Prolia injections and was sicker than a dog and it wasn't until the end of the last one she put 2 and 2 together and came up with PROLIA. That's why she calls herself "Wise Up Janey". There is good info from Canadian and Rrd as they had bad nerve problems with Prolia. There is a treasure trove of info in the back pages. Happy reading~Pood
The same Dr who gave me prolia told 1500 mg of calcium was too much , so That is why I thought 2400 was just because of Prolia suffering, my finger nails separated from bed of nail, same thing happened to my friend who was on mega chemo for Breast Cancer it was then that we realized it was from Prolia, when I got my EOB prolia was listed as chemo. Unbelievable what these Dr's put us through
And my GP told me to only take 600mg Calcium twice a day. Do I believe him or my body and my calcium tests. If people are on certain blood thinner meds they have to stay clear of K's in food or supplements. The new ones are not that way but there seems to be an overload of class action suits on one of them. I had one injection of Prolia on April 5, 2015. A day I will never forget and will always regret. Day one was fine and so was day 2 and then it hit like a ton of rocks. She knows better than to even bring up the subject with me now. I'm going back to Salmon Calcitonin. It works slowly but it does work and I don't lose any bone. It's all her fault in the first place as she had me on 10-20mg of Pred./day for one year and that did my bones in so she tried to mitigate her damage with Prolia. In how many ways can a Dr. go wrong!!! Pood
Anne~check it out first and make up your own mind if you want to take it or not. It has had it's problems too but nothing like Prolia. Just be a very well informed patient and make sure you find all of the side effects. Poo on what the Dr. wants. What does Anne want is the real question here. You have not even got over Prolia yet and are already thinking of a replacement? Give your body time to heal. It's been to 'He double toothpicks' and back again. Worry about a replacement when your side effects go away and you feel good again. You need some quality of life in here somewhere. Be well~Pood
Sheri-Prolia can be used for breast cancer but, and this is a big but, they get an injection every month, while we get one every 6 months. If I had breast cancer again, I could possibly see it if my Oncologist recommended it but not for just osteoporosis. It's too much with too many and varied side effects. It's also so new, none of the Docs know what to do for us so we are left high and dry. Being so new, I doubt if my Oncologist would have recommended it. He seemed to be an overly cautious man to me.
Hello everyone, can anyone who had experiencing the severe stomach reflux (swelling and acid reflux in the stomach),let me know will this horrible side effect leave your system automatical after the 6 months Prolia injection? Thank you!
