Updated

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Pood, I was just saying not using Prolia for breast cancer,my point was my nails were separating from nail bed and realized that it was due to Prolia because it is a chemo drug. Chemo drugs , same as when I was going thru Breast cancer .

Sheri~are you writing that your nails have separated from the Prolia injection? I wonder if that was why I was having so much pain with my toe nails towards the beginning of Prolia. I had breast cancer in '92. Chemo from that didn't seem as bad as Prolia. I would be sick in bed for a few days but then I'd feel okay again until it was time to go back to Denver for more. Pood

I read on another Forum that the ladies liked Prolia for their nails. They wrote it took out all the ridges and made them strong. That's an awful lot of horrid side effects for nice nails. Wonder if it could be from just the extra calcium and zero to do with Prolia? Maybe they were too sick to do any housework so the nails didn't get broken. Pood

Asked the Chinese TCM doctor to check the X-ray for me, which part of the femur has problem - he has to download the Java so no response yet. I just had 1 shot, the Prolia cause me so much serious side effects. I had all the side effects listed in the "warning creep" (in your above posting). I think the femur fracture may be due to the Prolia kill off the old bone mellow and remodeling with brittle bone in my body or cannot produce new bone mellow. I never think of I would have the femur fracture now.. My stomach has a little bit released after I took some Zantac or GasX and magnesium etc. I hope it won't come back. Thanks for all your prayers and blessings. I feel jaw pain and would this be the oster. in my jaw. I am also very worried about it.

Canadian~call you dentist tomorrow morning and say: I think I am getting ONJ. Can I get X-rays today? He will get you in tomorrow afternoon and look around well in there for you. It is rare but so are the broken femurs. He will find what is hurting you in your mouth and it could be like mine was -- a very unhappy muscle. I was so happy when Dr. Randy told me it was not ONJ!!! They all leave a little spare time in their days for emergencies. Be well~Pood

Canadian~I just checked your government. Prolia was released in Canada at the same time as it was in the USA (2011) and so were the amendments of the side effects that it causes. It's at Health Canada and they say to contact them if you have problems. Find Health Canada and tell them all that you are going through so we can get it off the market there too. Pood

What do you mean yellow bone marrow? So prolia affects bone marrow production too? It sounds like another reason out of the many reasons not to take it.

Skitty~yes, Canadian has the broken femur due to Prolia. She was mentioning for those on Prolia to have their bone marrow in their thigh bone checked as apparently that is what causes Prolia to break the thigh bone. I checked on the net and bone marrow does help grow bone so obviously Prolia is in it and caused it to break. I then checked on how do we get checks of this and it seems to be worse than the problem - make a surgical slit, insert needle, sew it back up and it can take a long time to heal as the 'skin' around the bone has been broken by the needle and it causes lots of pain for a long time. It would be worth it to gather stem cells but not just to check on something IMHO. This poor little lady has had everything Prolia has to offer in the way of side effects. I have helped her and guided her as best as I can because I don't know the Canadian health system very well. I have to send a friend an email and ask him and then relay the message back to here. Wish we could get more people from Canada on this place as that would be a huge help. We know they are there. They just have not found us yet and we know they are there as Prolia was released in Canada at the same time the FDA approved it in 2011.

Poodle, thank you very much for your kindness/help. The x Ray was based on clinical indication: Osteoporosis, query fracture mid shaft femur. The results came back: The bones are diffusely osteopenic. 1. Thoracolumbar spine: there is a mild disc space narrowing throughout the thoracic and lumbar spine. There is mild anterior height loss of the mid thoracic vertebra (possible T6). No definite wedge compression fractures notes. 2. Pelvis: Right femur - there is cortical thickening of the mid diaphysis of the right femur. This is noted within the lateral cortex and a lucency within this region. This is consistent with an atypical femoral fracture. Left femur - also has a thickening lateral cortex but no evidence of a fracture. So I need to take a CT scan for my legs again, and HR PQCT for bone strength arm/leg. And then bone density scan for hip and spine with forearm scan. My bone scan on Aug2015 showed: lumber spine -2.83; femoral neck -0.93; total hip -0.27; greater trochanter -0.83. Impression was osteoporosis with MODERATE fracture risk. Just took Atonel and Forsmax only for approx 1 year (about 4 years ago). And then a doctor prescribed me I should take Prolia based on the August 2015 bone scan report. Then I am suffering since then. Now I may have to do surgery on my leg. Poodle's research was quite right because the endo. said he has to look at the ct scan and decided what to do with it. He said it is from Prolia.

The Prolia injection was done on 9/25/2015 into my right abdomen. Since then I started to fight with the side effects. The latest one is the right leg tight bone fracture. I still hoping this is the mistake of the x-ray scan. Just one shot caused me so much! I don't want to have a surgery on my leg. It is unfair for a healthy person and a huge mistake to be taking this poison drag.

Canadian~Ask him if you can have a lace up cast on the leg with the broken femur from ankle to top of thigh. It should keep it stable enough to heal on it's own; otherwise, they go in with a cut and put in a metal plate and screw the plate to your bones so they are straight and even. After it heals, I believe they remove the screws. Do insist on TITANIUM. It is one metal our bodies do not reject. I had a regular metal screw, about 6-7 inches long right below the kneecap. It started to come out so I had to go back to Denver. Surgeons are used to their patients GONE but he didn't want to wait for any of that so he just slit the skin and took a screw driver and removed that screw from my bone. I thought I was going to die but did make it to the parking lot where I passed out. Husband was there and caught me and got me in the car. Don't trust them while you are wide awake. Have you gone to your Dentist yet. If not, call now.

Poodle. I did call the dentist office, The receptionist said they can do TNJ (I hope I remembered it correctly). Anyway, she booked me for next week appointment, then I will ask the dentist to have the ONJ test for me. Yes, I would prefer to have a lace up cast for my leg instead of anything else if possible. I showed the x-ray to a TMC doctor, he didn't see any big problem in the x ray. But I did see a very tiny horizontal line in the region. But he said it was not. I hope he was right.

Well Canadian~one doctor has already ruled it is fractured. Whatever the case is, you have to be very careful with it and send husband to do errands. Today is only Tues. I cannot believe he is waiting to see if you have ONJ. I was taken in the same day I called and my dentist is really super busy. I was the last patient of the day. After he got done, he said: "Don't come back until every side effect of Prolia is totally gone." He said he had only seen 2 cases of it in his career and said it was very nasty. Now you realize this fracture means you have done zero 0 to cause it. It can happen just lying in bed or walking around the house. You need to find Health Canada on your computer (maybe try Health Canada) and let them know of all (every single one) problems you have had with Prolia. It is where drugs are approved in Canada like the FDA is in the USA. Did the epsom salts Rrd liked work for your hands, etc. if you soaked them in it to get rid of the twitching, tingling hurting? When you look inside of your mouth do you see any sores of any kind - white patches, red patches - anything that is not of normal color? Do any of your teeth feel loose at all. Feel all of them with your fingers or do they feel sturdy like always before? What color is your tongue - pink as always or different? Have you called to ask to have your calcium/magnesium level checked? They just send an order to a laboratory and you go and then Dr. calls you back when he gets the results. Then you will know if you need to increase Calcium and Magnesium. We are all here for you and praying for you and you will get through this. Carolyn did after one whole year. I did it in 5 months with a couple of still lingering problems that are not much of a problem. Be well and take good care of yourself~Hugs~

I wonder if the FDA knows about the bone marrow and Prolia. Think I'll call them and tell them. One more reason to get this poison off the market. It certainly is not in any of their information or information from Amgen. Pood
