Prolia Side Effects (Page 37) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
I too had suffered consequences from the side effects. I would join a class action suit. Now I have been diagnosed with necrosis ONJ and it's getting worse. I don't know what to do.
C Louise , 3 wks after my second injection I had low potassium requiring I take supplement till levels returned to normal . I believe some of those side effects may be what is the problem with your father . How is his potassium levels ???
This time last year after getting my shot in Oct I was near death . My lung doc was able to get me straightened out . I had one year follow up yesterday and told him it was amazing how much better I felt and not once case of bronchitis this year being put on oxyagen .When I mentioned to Doc I thought it was no doubt all brought on by shot of Prolia , he totally agreed and said NO DOUBT about it . These docs giving shots know the chances they are taking with us and NEVER again will I be quinea pig for anyone !
Hi all: Try National Osteoporosis Foundation Connect Inspire Online Community. Wish I had read the postings last year. Wishing you all the best.
As far as I'm concerned, the doctors must get paid from the drug reps in some way, to prescribe the drugs and then the doctors out right lie that this drug is NOT the cause of all the side effects that a person has when they're confronted. The doctors around here in the hospital don't know a thing about Prolia and they don't call the family doctor that prescribed the drug to discuss it. Sure wish someone would file a lawsuit. Prolia almost killed my dad. The doctors, the drug reps and the distributor of Prolia, who is Amgen< all need to be sued. And the FDA doesn't fall far behind them.
Thank you Victoria for sharing the name of Osaplex. It is certainly a hopeful avenue to pursue. Definitely, Prolia nor Fosamax or any other med is a choice. For all of you out there, beware, now I have developed ONJ, necrosis of the jaw. Good luck to all.
If you go to fda.gov then on the very first page, on the left hand side under Recalls and alerts, click on Medwatch/Safety Alerts (in blue), on the next page you will see a reddish/orange box that says "Report a Problem", click that and on the right side you'll see Consumer/Patient in a blue box. Once you click that it should say "About Problem" and just follow down and fill in any information that you wish. I didn't list all meds taken or any of that. I basically gave them all the side effects and poor health my dad has been in since the injection, lack of prescribing doctor knowledge, lack of ER doctor knowledge at all, etc. Please let me know if I can help further. I hope this helps.
DPGIRL I'm curious of what was going on that they thought you were having a stroke? The doctors in the hospital in ER thought my dad was having a heart attack because his heart enzymes were severely elevated. His blood calcium level was also very low. His doctor prescribed Prolia even though dad has a latex allergy, had small intestine surgery AND has kidney failure due to Diabetes! And to top it off, the doctor didn't put dad on a calcium supplement, therefore he got Hypocalcemia which affects the heart enzymes, which is why they said he was having a heart attack. I had to pull the doctor aside and tell him about the drug (he got on his smart phone to research it quickly as he didn't know much about it)and made him do a blood test to check his blood calcium level. Once they discovered the level was low (dad was could no longer breath at this point and they were ready to put him on life support) they started IVs of something to bring the blood calcium level up and within 2 hours he started to improve. The killer drug was prescribed by his family doctor (and the ER doctors know just about nothing about it) because dad had hip and other joint pain because he was dehydrated but the doctor said it was osteoporosis causing the pain. Dad had a previous history of hip and joint pain and always got IV fluid and would feel better but the doctor took a different path this time and it was awful. Just curious as to what your symptoms were and why they thought you were having a stroke. Thanks for letting me know.
I've had 6 or 7 injections so far. I'd love to blame all my illnesses, aches and pain on Prolia but, the reality is, I'm 54. Unless you have an "early onset" of osteopenia/osteoporosis I'd say most of the symptoms I'd read above sound like old age. I can hardly get out of bed without joint pain - arthritis of some sort in fingers, wrist, knee and now in my back. I've always had dizzy spells if I get up too quickly - bit of low blood pressure. My bladder is fine but, I've heard of older, smaller, women who've had several children developing problems. I did have an early menopause and am now through that nightmare. I don't really care for what I was left with but can't blame Prolia. It is an important part of maintaining my bones.
Once you stop your shots it should be out of your body in 6 months. A friend of mine got me started on OSAplex by xymogen. it is very hard to find on your own but I did find it at brimhallsupplements. She told me her bone density improved after one year. It is not cheep, $71.20 for 60 packets. I am trying that. Have been on it 1 1/2 months. Try coconut oil on your face and scalp that might help. it works on everything.
It has been almost 4 years since I had my one and only disgusting Prolia shot. Nothing has gotten better. Trust me, don't take. ONJ, burning face, periphrerial neuraphy, Burning legs and feet and Fibromyalgia, and not the greatest disposition. I've had a complete personality change. I pray a lot and hope a lot. Ya'll keep your chin up. God is in control.
I have had four prolia and went through rough time but began to feel ok because I'm learning to live with pain, I've been to dentist again following crowns n root canal, nothing wrong with teeth but my jaw!! I've numbness dude of face pain in ear neck back nd been diagnosed with TMJ DYSFUNCTION .. Anyone else? Gx
C Louise, yes I can see your post. Are you saying the side effects will continue and they will get worse? Because that is what is happening with me. The side effect I got and the reason I stopped after one shot are getting worse. I was given the shot by an oncologist and when they ask for my side effect and why I was stopping the shot, I was told tingling and numbness in the legs and arms was not one of them. The blew me off. I did not have any of this prior to receiving the shot and now 8 months later it is unbearable. Is what your saying is that this will not go away in time?
Victoria. So glad you wrote. Please read my previous posts on this site. I believe I started posting in October 2014. They are lengthy but it's because i am just sick about my dad's condition and I hope to have other people be informed of what happened to him after this awful inj. Please call the FDA and ask to talk to a pharmacist. That's who I finally talked to, after talking to several ER doctors, hospital doctors, etc and this pharmacist is the ONLY person who told me that the medication will be out of the body after 6 months but people might still have side effects long after the 6 months. I don't think anyone really knows for sure how long the side effects will last but I see several people on this site who continue to be so so sick much longer than 6 months. It's an awful drug. My dad is now home on Hospice. He started losing weight just 2 weeks after the inj. and has lost over 30 lbs. total. He hasn't walked on his own since 4 days after the inj. and the list of ill effects goes on as you can read about in my previous posts. And like you, NO doctors will admit that Prolia caused any of his problems. I know it did. He had none of these problems before being given the drug. I sure wish we could get this drug off the market to save more victims and even more, I wish the ignorant doctors would stop telling people things that are not true about this drug. Please let me know if I can help you with a phone # for the FDA if you should decide to contact them. I'm really hoping many people will contact them either by phone or file a report thru the FDA website on their Medwatch link. I am going to keep after them until I get some satisfaction. My dad is at the end of life now and before this drug he was still walking and mowing his own lawn and doing normal activities. I will be thinking about you as I know what you're experiencing.
This drug also made your dad loose weight? I was a tiny person to begin with but I have lost an additional 5 lbs. I was 104 and am now 99lbs. that is a lot for someone so small. I tried going to the web site but could not find what you were talking about. can you post that site again, not just or me but for others also. thank you for all your information and prayers and {{HUGS}} to you and your Dad
After a bone density scan in April 2013 that showed osteopenia, I had a single injection of PROLIA that ruined my life. I am still suffering from side effects of this poison as it badly compromised my immune system but had no positive impact on results of my bone density test in April 2015. I am so sorry for all people that had a misfortune of getting PROLIA injection...
As your doctors to write "Medically Necessary" on the script. Than ask your insurance if they will cover the DEXA scan if it is noted "Medically Necessary." Best of luck
I have knee replacements and have been on Prolia for a year. I have experienced chronic fatigue, cataracts, a fibrillation and now both my knee replacements are wearing out...Poly wear or wearing down of the plastic piece. I found an online site that states that something in Prolia breaks down the plastic!!!!!!! UK has put a warning on it for low blood calcium, too.
I took one shot and would never take another one. After having steroid shots in my spine for pain I now have osteroporasis, it was improving with calcium and vit t d but after reading up on it I won't be taking b g prolia or steroid of any kind. Steroids wear out your joints and I wouldn't take any pharmaceutical drugs before reading everything on it.
Merle: What was your doctors response to side effects? Did you call Amgen or FDA?
